Tough card. One sided favorites, little knowns versus unknowns and a decent main event. On paper, there are only 3-fights that I have any real interest in watching (as apposed to playing):

    Main Event

    Derrick Lewis Fight

    Roy Nelson Fight

  • gerddog

I feel bad for Roy Nelson, I feel like UFC is just trying to get the most out of him during his “revenge tour” trying to defeat fighters that won against him, he is now just adding to the revenge list by dropping the last 3 going 1-5 since Jun 2013. his cardio seems to be slipping but man does he still have power in those fists!! almost got to KO against Overeem with his palm holding his head while the other fist was dropping bombs to Overeems face against the cage….yet as much as I love “big country” he reminds me of Tank Abbott’s decline where yes he still had power and you wanted the big guy to win, yet you cringe when he takes punches to the chin, knowing that he use to have a chin of steel, has become a hard plastic that may dent with the right angle of force….anyway….I still love Roy, just hope he can end the fight early or it may turn out to be a wobbly loss to a decision

Pricing out. Unlike the last event, this seems like a good week to stack the main event in cash, right? Hendricks is -250 fav but is +240 to finish the fight inside the distance. Also, thinking I’ll have to have exposure to the Nelson/Rosholt & Lewis/Grabowski fights in every GPP lineup.

That’s where I found them. May be a little early still.

Roy’s chin is still granite, not hard plastic. Mark Hunt just has freak power. With that in mind, this could be Roy’s last fight in the UFC which is unfortunate since he’s one of my favorite fighters. But there is absolutely zero chance that Rosholt knocks him out. He’s just going to try and take Roy down and hold him there for 3 rounds.

Would have to agree with this. Since the KO by Hunt, he’s gone the distance w/ Overeem & Barnett who both have solid power. Odds for Nelson to get finished are +510.

What do you guys think about Artem Lobov 9800 vs Alex White 9600 ?
I will be having some exposure to Lobov @ 9800 could be a quick KO

  • wufabufa

Lebov is an 11-11 fighter. He’s tough and seems to have good defense and reasonable power but he’s pretty inconsistent. If he doesn’t get the early TKO he’ll be on the wrong side of a decision. Might have high ownership since he looked okay vs. the other bums on TUF, is an active shit talker on social media, and is part of Conor’s entourage.

  • Jrange

Lobov lost his fight to even get in the house to mehdi baghdad, he got thouroughly outclassed in his debut. I doubt he has anything for most of the ufc’s bottom rung even.

OSP is a solid play after getting dominated by a much better fighter last time out. Tons of power also

Agreed. Especially facing Feijao who has been KOed in half of his last 6 fights. Hoping OSP’s price keeps him lowish owned.

I think i’m favoring White over Lobov. I’ve only seen Lobov in his loss to Hall, but White seems like the higher volume striker by far and has taken some shots and hung in there in his fights before so hopefully he’ll at least be a volume play with upside before.

What are peoples’ thoughts on Pyle? I think he presents a lot of value. Spencer hasn’t won inside the distance in the UFC, so Pyle should be able to go the distance, and he is a threat to win by sub or potentially KO. Will he be high-owned?

  • Stangs13

I love OSP here. He is a beast and like Bosox said his last fight was against a much better fighter. I think he has huge value even with his price.

Lobov was exciting on TUF but in my opinion Dana gave him most of the easier matchups throughout the show. I think his record is more of what we should expect. I dont know much about White but I will be playing him as more of a fade on Lobov.

I also like Pyle. He is a very gritty fighter and should be able to stick with Spencer and hopefully get a win.

I like Pyle to round out a DK line up. Great value. Worst case it goes to a decision, as I don’t see him getting KO’d or submitted. I also agree on OSP and that I would NOT want a lot of exposure to Lobov.

One fight that i am really on the fence about is Lewis/Grabowski. A guy on Twitter who has done a good deal of research believes that the close line is insane, Grabowski should be a 3-1 favorite and he will submit Lewis. i will have some exposure to both fighters, though perhaps a little more to Lewis

I agree on this. Will have it in some way on all GPPs. Why more exposure to Lewis if the guy on Twitter likes Grabowski? I like Lewis as well, and was wondering how Lewis compares to the competition that Grabowski has faced in the past.

Have you ever tried to punch a dent in a PVC pipe? Still going to hurt your hand and only a select few can do it. That’s the kind of plastic I am talking about. And yes I agree that he won’t get knocked out (never said he would) there is always a chance any given fighter gets KO’d. Regardless I will take my chances and be off this fight due to Rosholt wanting to grapple and grind one out and is smart enough (I think) not to trade blows with Roy

Roy is going to put Rosholt to sleep! Go back and look at Roys losses, almost all are top tier guys, Rosholt better bring a blankey.

Does anyone try to project ownership for MMA the way Adam Levitan does during NFL? Seems tough to do.

  • UmmAndYea

I think its pretty difficult to get ownership projects super dialed in because mma does not have week to week stats like other sports. That and they fight opponents that are so different, for the most part you can get a pretty good idea though.

  • TheRealJoker

Not a lot of value on this card. Pricing is pretty tight. I find myself having to choose between the bottom 3 fighters to fit in Misha and none are very appealing. I don’t really like the options in the midtier either as far as guys that will produce a finish or are sure to beat their opponent.

In the bottom tier we have Mike “The Truth” Jackson, Fun Size Mackovsky and Feijao:

Mike Jackson is a local personality in TX. I am familiar with him more than most because i’m from Houston and have had a couple fights for the Legacy amateur MMA promotion which he filmed. He has had some pro boxing/kickboxing fights but sports a losing amateur mma record. His standup is ok at a local level but his ground game left a bit to be desired. I haven’t seen Jackson fight in mma in awhile but I doubt he has made significant enough strides in his grappling to fend off a brown belt from Jim/Dan Miller.

Mackovsky is the safest bet to go the distance but he is not a good bet to rack up points even if he wins and definitely not a good bet to finish Joe B.

That leaves Feijao…. who may be the most likely to get finished BUT is the best bet of the 3 to rack up some points and do the finishing. You have to hope that even in a loss he can somehow score enough points to beat out the bottom 3. I’m really interested in this fight as a fan because it’s been awhile since OSP and Feijao had someone willing to stand with them. Both should oblige and we will see some fireworks for as long as it lasts.

I have the same dilemma, though see Feijao going down in the 1st. At the weigh in OSP seemingly towered over him and absent his great equalizer = PED’s, I don’t see that he has a chance. I thought about “Fun Size”, though in a 3-round fight don’t think he will be active enough to generate points. That leaves me with Jackson and a punchers chance. I really do appreciate the color on his boxing, if anything, it is reinforcing my thought process.

  • TheRealJoker

Honestly Jackson has had some stoppage wins in his kickboxing fights but his ammy mma record (last mma fight March 2012) is 3-6. He won 2 fights by decision and 1 by sub. He lost 4 decisions, 1 sub and 1 tko.

The sub loss was actually in that Dustin Poirier documentary Fightville. He got choked by the less dedicated training partner of Dustin’s.

If he wins it’s because he was able to outpoint Gall for the decision keeping the fight on the feet. But I just don’t see him having the wrestling to keep the fight on the feet against a dedicated ground specialist that fancies himself a full time fighter.
