I might not be able to watch this, but will still be betting on it.

It looks like there will be a lot of finishes in this one. Not sure if DJ gets the finish, he might not go for it since he’s making his record breaking run, so he might not pay out that price.

Thoughts on Duquenoy vs Stammam? Is there a chance Werdum/Lewis doesn’t end in a finish?

Oh I had messaged them a few times earlier. I hadn’t checked anything since I was watching the fights. I’ll look now

I’m curious as to what they said to you…

I hope they come up with a solution to this problem. Now that it cost them some money, they might try and figure it out.

Any of these would be better: – if the fight is canceled, you get the highest paid fighter available that fits in your salary cap (as long as he hasn’t already fought) – you take the canceled fighters salary, divide it by 200, and that’s how many points you get (e.g. $8,900 fighter gets 44.5 points) – keep Live Scoring percentages blind until after the fight starts and changes are allowed (this has flaws – you can figure out who other players have, especially in h2h; might have to have a one hour cutoff). – If a fight is canceled, and only if you have a fighter in that fight, you can manually make a change

Any of these are better than the current system, and not very complicated. These are just off the top of my head. I’m sure there are better ideas that are also simple.

While we are at it… a unanimous victory should be worth more than a split decision.

So anyone have a deal whats going on? This whole damn card just became a disaster. Had 2 fighters cancel, 2 draws. Just a disaster

  • cubsflan

They arent going to cancel the tournaments. But it be nice if they just give us tickets for the amount of what contest we played in.

I think they should get a little something for stuffing a takedown attempt.

Idk, maybe that isn’t feasible but It would have at least made that Woodley / Maia fight tolerable to watch (if you had Woodley).

I have no idea why anyone would be bitching about how they are handling it. Nobody loses.

  • golful

never ever expected DK to offer this kind of compensation. i’ve regained some otherwise dwindling respect for them with this move. in hindsight i wish i played my life roll in tonight’s contests

Amazingly well handled by them. They made a reasonable ruling on how how the contests are handled and then refund those that lost. It cannot be handled in a better a way. Getting sick of people that bitch about everything. WTF else can they possibly do? Some people need to get a clue.

DK decided to refund everyone that lost? I havent seen anything about that yet.

    Thanks

  • thetitanlb

    Yeah same I haven’t seen anything either…

  • crimsonp

Or just cancel the entire MMA slate altogether. To me nothing you mentioned is a feasible option. How can a slate go on when after lock 2 fighters have been completely removed without notice and a completely new fight has be scheduled? Oh I know why…because DK’s is so greedy they wouldn’t want to miss out on all the rake that has been collected.

  • WESTIN88

First of all we can bitch for sure. We constructed our lineups based on salaries where as I spent 9200 on the guy as a huge favorite, now he’s fighting someone different and his salary is higher where as he’s the underdog. My email at 10:30 didn’t state I was getting a refund, like others so I’m still pissed. This has happened multiple times in the UFC their is obviously a problem and it needs to be fixed. A few weeks ago the same thing I think the opening match got PPD and they still locked at 6 or 7, 30 minutes prior to full card therefore people were unable to get out of that fight. I in no shape or form would of cashed tonight, but If I knew werdum was fighting him my whole lineup would of been different just saying.

  • crimsonp

Ya nobody loses, but many never had a chance to even compete or win. If you were one of the lucky few who completely faded all four players then you more than likely won a good sum. If not sorry you never had a chance in hell. In my opinion the ONLY option that should of been on the table(since they knew these details before the fights started, but after lock) is canceling ALL MMA contest. I sound like a broken record, but how can you run a slate that 2 fighters are dropped after lock (not both were because of injury), and a completely new fight was created. Many lineups would have looked different had this fight been scheduled in the first place.

Go to the previous page of this thread, someone got a response from DK that said they’d refund any money that was lost to cover entries

You probably don’t realize that just about all of the complaints came well before they came up with the “nobody loses” response.

  • eric42

Furthermore, if they put their minds to it, they could come up with a gameplay policy that would eliminate any losses for them and any frustration from their customers when these all-too-often late cancellations occur.

It would take less than a day to come up with a plan, and then however long to change the programming and notify their customers. Just this tiny bit of effort would prevent them from saying, “I guess we have to give everyone their money back.”

Most companies would fire people for not seeing this coming and costing a company this much money. Such an easy fix. I guess MMA is too insignificant in the scheme of DK revenue for them to care.

    Any refunds yet?

I haven’t seen any mass email addressing the issue, nor have I received a credit.

In a sportsbook, betting on a fight closes when the first fighter begins walking about of the tunnel/locker room area. In baseball on DK, if I have a player starting at 4PM, he locks, but all my batters starting at 7PM are fully editable.

The most effective solution to this problem is to implement rolling locks, just like in baseball and other sports. A fight locks and the salary is taken at the same point that sports books stop taking bets.

  • eric42

The email did say to allow 48 hours for refunds to hit.

I seen that but was curious. I have not contacted them and i’m not going to so I can see if they notice everyone in a fair manner. I could not understand the wording in the email. It really didn’t say anything about those who didn’t receive a prize but I do not know anything anymore.

For those saying that this is a fair resolution, please look at it from the side of those that correctly swapped off one of the better fighters at lock time. The information available at lock was that his fight was cancelled.

  • eric42

It was more than just a cancellation 9 minutes before lock.

    - First fight moved from 3:30 to 4:00 – Another fight was canceled BECAUSE of Lewis backing out – This is a consistent flaw in UFC and Draft Kings ‘locked players’ procedure

It’s aggravating to all customers who have zero chance with these weird cancellations, that happen almost every single fight. If there wasn’t a solution, what can you do? That is far from the case, though. There are several options to adjust the format that would make these mishaps a minor issue, or maybe even non-issue. This one cost DK some money, and they should look to change things (so easy to do) so it doesn’t happen to them again.

  • rannas23

Not sure if it happened to anyone else but my lineups locked early before contests started and wasn’t able to adjust with any cancelations or any news. Really lost some money last night…not sure if I will play MMA again.

In an environment where the MMA prize pools are getting smaller and smaller, they need to get control of this before the bottom falls out.
