the takeaway from that fight is pretty obvious… Jon Jones is a shell of his former self and can no longer be expected to run through opponents….. but at the same time he’s just so darn big with that reach and his wrestling is so elite that he can still grind out wins one way or the other

so i think he’s a great fade going forward but not a guy you necessarily want to bet against until someone better comes along… pretty embarrasing effort by gustaffson he really had nothing at all this fight

gustaffson is a little one dimensional… he’s first and foremost a wrestler… so if you can get him on his back he really has nothing going for him

Wait – what? I do not want to fight or anything but wtf? Bones won that fight pretty conclusively. He is not a shell of his former self lol his former self went to decision with Gus. His new – most likely Turinabol fueled – self finished him. I am not understanding your reasoning here – Jones is absolutely juiced to the gills and will be going forward since the UFC / USADA seem completely disinterested in sanctioning him so I’m not sure how you would go against him going forward. I feel bad for Gus cos he had no legit shot here but it is what it is. Least he made some money – he knew what was up. One day, JJ will get KTFO – just wasn’t today.

Gus is a boxer. He is in no way shape or form first and foremost a wrestler. Ridiculous…. Nothing worse than people without any mma knowledge talk mma. And cyborg didn’t lost to Nunes because no roids, she lost because Nunes is the goat.

I will be marking mtdurham as a moron to

lol easy killer…. Ill be honest i didnt know gus started boxing at such a young age…but he was also a shootfighter, so perhaps you didnt know that my friend.

all of his fights ive watched ive come away with the impression the guy was a wrestler because thats what he’s best at… his grappling, wrestling, and takedown defense are all fairly elite.. and if you look through his fighting history he’s been able to takedown some of the best like Cormier and Jon Jones, defend takedowns against phil davis and jon jones, and take down guys like shogun repeatedly…

His boxing is more of a function of his reach not being some sort of prodigy . He got KO’ed on the feet by Anthony Johnson and the list of guys he’s banged with is not nearly as impressive as the list of names he’s successfully grappled with.

when i said first and foremost perhaps that wasnt an accurate word description. give me a break i had almost finished a case of beer during the fight card.

What i meant was his wrestling is far superior to his jiu jitsu… he didnt have anything once that fight went to the ground he wasnt getting up and he couldnt even find guard… thats why i said if you get him on his back he’s in trouble…which is typical of wrestlers….granted most people dont have much of anything for Jones once they’re on their back, but that was thoroughly unimpressive.

A lot of you guys weren’t watching the same fight I was… Jones was being stalked the whole time, he lacked his typical explosiveness, his body looked horrible relative to where he was when he was fully juiced. I’m not sure how you could watch that fight then watch his old fights and see the same guy… he basically did nothing for three rounds other than land one takedown and then use his elite wrestling skills to hold him in place until he could grind out the win….
