Looks like a lot of live dogs on this card. Have a lineup I really like with 700 on the table. Anybody else leaving some salary on the table to be contrarian? I feel like this is a great card to take a shot or two like that.

I can easily see 2 of the bottom 5 salaries winning. Really all 5.

I’m taking a few shots with Johns and Narimani.

Agree – which dogs do you like?

I’m a big Fig fan and will be rooting for him – not sure if I’m taking him for DK yet – but Joe B is live if he can avoid that big Figgy power & extend it to the later rounds.

I was liking Carolina, but then I read she’s coming back from some kind of spinal fracture or something – I need to look more into that. Idk, I just don’t think Lipski is very good, but I played her against a girl coming in on like 1 day notice and she scored for shit so that is prob making me biased.

Davi Ramos is live af. Fiziev has a shot. I don’t like Askarov against Pantoja, but I’m wrong a lot.

Am I considering Khadis Ibragimov even though he is f’ng terrible? YOU KNOW I AM. I don’t know a ton about Dolidze except this is his first fight after getting popped. Agree w/vogaman that Khadis sucks, but if nothing else he’s shown a solid chin which has resulted in a solid DK floor…so far. And he always comes to bang in that first round.

Narimani – he might have the tdd to cap Dawson’s potential. Nad stuffed 2/3 of Grundy’s tds, but weirdly that fight was mostly on the feet.

I’m back to my single bullet ways, so Spivac/Felipe is a nightmare. I like Duffy to win, but don’t want to pay up for him. Debating Jackson – Johns has come through for me before, and he’s a tough guy, but think he’s outgunned here. I am really struggling with Joker Jack/Gastelum.

Sorry for the stream of consciousness post lol and these are just initial thoughts. I haven’t really researched this card and prob won’t do much more lol. Beer + clicking = my lineup.

The other guy sucks too. He basically just throws one big power shot at a time. He can probably finish on the ground if Ibragimov gasses in the first minute again though. Probably need exposure to that fight.

I’m sure Khadis will let me down again, but if he comes through, bang! I can put him on my mantel next to John Phillips lol.

Any thoughts on playing both Benavides and Figuerido in the same line up?

I wouldn’t stack any of the fighters in a GPP.

Agreed on Duffy. He shouldn’t be that big of a favorite and priced too high. I think Dawson and Figgy are better plays at that price. Could even play some Alvarez because he’s going to be super low owned in GPPs

My favorite dog on the card is Joel Alvarez. He’s fucking enormous compared to Duffy. I just think he’ll have the better gas tank and if he gets on top for any extended period… he’ll wear Duffy out and actually get a finish in the 3rd.

Feels like the size will trump skill.

Edit: I think both guys will be easy to double up the field on, too… if you want.

  • NewMike

I’m going to have around 10 LUs and will probably have a few Alvarez and 1 Duffy. Duffy is more skilled and has more experience, but Alvarez actually wants to be there and is much hungrier and looked good at weigh ins. I think he could get a sub versus a guy who’s talking about retirement and just wants the paycheck.

Benavidez is talking like he’s going to have the worst game plan possible for this fight. But,fighters pretty much lie every time they talk about their strategy, so it makes me think he’ll be smarter this time. Maybe he won’t lead with his face versus a guy with power in his hands. I think Joe is smart, he has a better gas tank and could just take over in the later rounds and put up a good score versus a tired Fig. Or he could get finished in the first, I have no real strong read on this fight and will be underweight to the field, 50% or less most likely.

Thoughts on the “headbutt”? It was basically all Joe’s fault and he didn’t look stunned or that hurt by it, to me it seemed like he was more worried about being cut. But he just left his hands down and got KO’d right after so maybe he was stunned but not wobbly.

  • thevogaman

I’ve got equal shares of both (no stacks) of 35% for both. Probably puts me with the field on Joe and under on Fig.

Anybody else getting a Junior Albini vibe from this Felipe dude?

  • NewMike

I know some of you are probably wasting your time with tape study, but here is the real lowdown and the info we really need.

Sergey “The Polar Bear” Spivak vs Carlos “Boi” Felipe – This is a clear win for The Polar Bear, Boi is barely better than no nickname at all

Arman Tsarukyan vs Davi “The Tasmanian Devil” Ramos – The Tasmanian Devil would be hard to beat if Davi had a nickname, so this is a flawless victory

Amir “The Prince” vs Malcolm “X” Gordon – While X seems like a lazy nickname the beauty of it is in it’s simplicity, The Prince is not bad, so I’m going to take X in a close decision

Montel “Quik” Jackson vs Brett “The Pikey” Johns – I really liked the movie Snatch so I am biased here, I feel I should be upfront about that. Quik is a decent nickname but it works so much better when it rhymes with the last name. I’m going with The Pikey

Joel “El Fenomeno” Alvarez vs Joe “Irish Joe” Duffy – Using his own name in his nickname is terrible and I won’t tolerate that kind of nonsense. And El Fenomeno brings a bit of diversity, so I’m going SUB round 1

Nad “Smiler” Narimani vs Grant “KGD” Dawson – I don’t feel like looking up what KGD stands for, so Smiler by decision

Roman Dolidze vs Khadis Ibragimov – Neither has a nickname, but Dolidze is known as the juicer, so I’ll give it to him by split decision

Askar “Bullet” Askarov vs Alexandre “The Cannibal” Pantoja – no discussion needed, The Cannibal will take a bite out this guy and get him out early

Luana “Dread” Carolina vs Ariane “Queen of Violence” Lipski – Queen of Violence might be one of the best nicknames, which means this girl should have a big future ahead of her. Sidenote: I looked at her instagram, so I am once again biased

Rafael “Ataman” Fiziev vs Marc “Bonecrusher” Diakese – I don’t know what Ataman means, is it like attaboy? We all get Bonecrusher, much like how we will all get a win if we pick him

Jack “The Joker” Hermansson vs Kelvin Gastelum – Versus no nickname The Joker should be able to dominate and smother his opponent on his way to a round 2 submission

Joseph Benavidez vs Deiveson “God of War” Figueiredo – The (arguably) best nickname in the game versus no nickname. God of War by MURDER!!!

I should go do something productive now.

I was thinking Tuivasa, but that was more because Spivak actually fought him. I could see a similar result.

Yeah, maybe thats closer. Felipe at least throws with some power compared to diaper boy.

  • futoo

is spivac a striker or grappler? seems a good pick

  • jki7p6

Not my favorite card. Weak opener, poor women’s fight, ok but predictable main, disappointing Diakese, juicer and two sub specialists (like them all), decision co-main, tough Duffy, two fire bouts total?

  • jki7p6

Wake me for Geezerville next card

Honestly, he’s not great at anything and he’s just very big. I think he’ll try to wrestle in this matchup and maybe get a TKO from mount.

These are the cards that end up delivering sometimes though. Think winning will be 99% luck (instead of the usual 98%).

    How about in cash games?

Can you stack the main fight in cash?

I think you can justify stacking Fig and Benvidez in cash. Just stacking them in a full slate gpp will not be optimal. You have to have winners in a gpp

Pretty sure that’s what most people will do.
