He’s always one of the most underowned in his price range – I’d guess he comes in at 5-6%

Just looking at his stats and he seems like a good fit here. Seems like a calm guy in a pressure tournament. I like his experience as well.

PGA Tour radio just reported that the USGA is going to cut down the rough this afternoon to 4”.

No source cited, looking for confirmation.

Crazy that with the US Open now overlapping with NFL that we are less than 17 hours away from the first tee time at the US freakin open and we are only on page 9. Feel like normal years it would have been 20 – 25 or so

I have a little bit of Louie. I agree with you.

Ifn1992, do you view recent Andalucia Masters as a good comparable for this week. Valderrama played extremely difficult that week and we saw Kaymer, Harding, Syme, and Westwood all in the top 10 there. I think there’s great value on Syme and Harding this week.

Just an FYI to all, I’m friends with the superintendent at Winged Foot (he used to work at my club on Long Island) and he’s horny for a bloodbath. I know there’s so much talk about the rough, but there will legitimately be balls lost 5 yards off the fairway with the new 3 minute search. We had some members go play last week and forecaddies were losing balls left and right. I’ve played the course a few times before and while the greens are fast and are poa they don’t show markings like west coast poa and they role so true to line it’s unbelievable. It won’t be the best putter that wins but the best reader of the greens (not that that’s a super bold statement to make).

Louis thrives in U.S. Opens. He was the first guy I plugged in.

That’s great to hear actually. I have never played him as I see the W/D here and there with the occasional back issues or missing golf clubs ha ha. I agree 100% that this seems like a perfect spot for him to thrive.

I’m not surprised. I’m sure there will be tiers.

There’s also no benefit of trampled down rough by spectators. They can’t have it be impossible.

    Winner: Rahm
Fade: DJ (but keep 1 in MME), Webb Simpson, Bison
Sleepers: Brian Harmon (will sportsbook but failed to make my LU’s I didnt use anyone below 7K) Lee Westwood @7000 was like a carmel corn jelly belly I picked from the bowl every time I looked.
hunchs: Tiger will be around all week, Joker plays well.

Never much talk on Tiers but I love it. I like to change up my classic LU’s just a bit to give my LU’s a broader player pool. This is a hard week to play Tiers. Kudos to DK people on an excellent slate. Now I want some opinions. I like all 6 golfers in Tier 5. anyone got a favorite or a guess of highest and lowest ownership (in tiers I will pick who I think has lowest ownership, not always but….)
    Tier 5
    Tommy Fleetwood
    Tyrrell Hatton
    Justin Rose
    Viktor Hovland
    Paul Casey
    Gary Woodland

  • sfguy21

    WInner: JT
Fade: Bryson (hit it as far as you want big boy)
    Sleeper: Conners

Built about 30 Lus in the minimal to get a feel this week, but I’m planning on picking one single one to play across the big boy contests. Lets see how this new strategy plays out.

Deep Sleeper: Palmer last best chance

one of my last players kicked out of the player pool. interesting that we were thinking along the same lines. At the end I said no thanks…lol last best chance at a major….in with the new out with the old…….a heavy mantra I keep repeating as I grow long in the tooth.

    1. I do and looking at the Andalucia Masters was one of the factors I looked at when making my player pool. I too have Harding and Syme in my pool.

    2. What you’re saying about the forecaddies is really interesting – I didn’t think of that directly as a factor, though “hitting the fairway percentage” was a huge factor for me this week.

    Tier 5
    Tommy Fleetwood
    Tyrrell Hatton
    Justin Rose
    Viktor Hovland
    Paul Casey
    Gary Woodland

I’m seeing all of these guys around 9-12% except Ty Hat @ 20+%
Rose & Woodland lowest owned of the group

boots on the ground…..Love it thanks for posting.

I have rolled around in my head a quote Tiger made at the 2006 US Open. paraphrased….

golfers are conditioned to majors and fast greens. its expected, so this course is not high on the stimp meter, people are not making adjustments making too much adjustment and its hard gaging how hard it is to strike it.

any comment to the quickness of the greens??

  • RudyPujols

None of the Par 3’s have water, right? Asking for a friend who is considering having a good chunk of Paul Casey.

  • BrianVT

I’m showing Shrek Oosty at 14% in my source.

“Best Reader of the Greens” to me = fade most of the younger guys FWIW

I have Syme also so glad to hear he’s in your pool. Had him at Valderrama and he was my highest scorer so I thought why not. Love these kind of plays even though they seldom work out for me lol. GL

I got cold feet with DJ and made a second more balanced lineup.. then a third with DJ too. Interestingly Hatton is the only one in all three lineups – I am not typically a big fan but his price fit and he seems well suited to a grindfest.

My heart wants to play Stenson as he is probably my favorite golfer, so I did throw him into one lineup. My low-end guy is Harman although I did also throw in a flyer on Kanaya at 6100. 6/6 seems less important this week since there will be some negative FP rounds 3/4 .

  • shadowchap1978

Haven’t seen him mentioned much…but I’m playing Fatrick Reed this week. Guy is a grinder, also did well at Shinnecock which was a tough one like wing foot. Also throwing Paul Casey in at 7900… seems a bit cheap for him. GL all! This and Masters Week my two favorite weeks of the golf year!
