oh. I read yesterday they were going to take his private jet and either keep going to wisconsin or turn around if he couldn’t make it.

Well he could have done that, but that would mean Diaz couldn’t get into the field. I guess Phil was nice enough knowing the chances are very slim to give Diaz a chance at the US Open. A cut would be big for someone like that.

If your goal is just to get 1st, yea I agree that it may not be a good decision. However, if you think that lineup is your highest EV, putting in a train like that maximizes your EV.

no ,it’s just plain stupid in a top-heavy payout structure to do that

    Tim
Phil is still ok for the PIG as he just WD right ??

Anyone have the number for the USGA so we can call in rules violations?

Never thought I would see the day that Oosty is the highest owned player in a major. For those that played him you need to ask yourself, four weeks would have I played Oosty at 25% ownership at the US Open….:)

A lot of the projectionists had him at 5% too, LOL

Anybody have PGATour live? I spent the $5 for the monthly thinking you could watch live golf, it’s just a leaderboard, huge waste of $5

Not sure how your PIG contest works, but technically he withdrew before the tournament began (since an alternate is in his place).

Also, I see “Thursday and sometimes Friday” Charley Hoffman birdied his first hole.

I’ve had it in the past, it is much better for the regular tournaments that don’t get coverage until like 3/4 pm usually where with PGATour Live you can usually start watching around 10. The majors usually either have free online streaming early or coverage on tv starts earlier.

Nope he withdrew. Roberto Diaz took his place already.

when did this happen, and how did you know the next alternate is already listed? I thought I saw a mictits tee time?

  • MurphysLawl

    Well good luck to everyone.

Rolling with Spieth, Scott, Kuchar, and Oosty. I consider them as my locks (fingers crossed).

The next two, sheesh, that was a toss up. It was either Molinari, An, Glover, Charl, Pieters, Kisner, and/or Casey. Literally a toss-up.

Also, if someone can find a way to zoom into the greens on the US Open page, that would be great. Otherwise, this ST is kind of useless. Thanks.

Seriously, do you let your wife make your dentist appointments? What were you thinking when you made that appointment six months ago, lol!

Oh US Open website. You can see Roberto Diaz has a 2:20 PM tee time (with Stricker and Cink). That was originally Mickelson’s tee time. Also, Diaz was known to be the next alternate up (posted this like maybe on one of the early pages in this thread), so given he is listed on the leaderboard, it means he replaced Phil.

the one on the app at least shows the distances as text without having to click on dots on teh screen. Someone needs to pay the company that did the masters to handle all events.

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/mickelson-withdraws-us-open-121207674—spt.html

ERIN, Wis. (AP) — Phil Mickelson has withdrawn from the U.S. Open, realizing there was no chance to get from his daughter’s high school graduation in California to make his tee time in Wisconsin.

This is the first time Mickelson has missed the U.S. Open since he failed to qualify in 1993.

Mickelson had been holding out hope that with the potential of storms over Wisconsin, there might be a four-hour delay that would allow him to watch his daughter graduate and zoom across the country in his private jet.

Instead, the U.S. Open began Thursday under sunshine with little threat of bad weather all day.

Roberto Diaz of Mexico, the next alternate, officially took Mickelson’s afternoon tee time.
