Beautiful weather for the US Open in Pebble Beach, CA… let’s take a look at it day by beautiful day.
THURS – Perfection
AM – Could actually start with a bit of fog, but that should burn off without much of a problem, and it’s great the rest of the day. AM winds will start calm, picking up to 5mph by late morning.
PM – Winds will continue to steadily increase, topping out around 10mph sustained in the afternoon.
FRI – Perfection + 1/2 mph
AM – Again some fog and calm winds early. By late AM winds will be in the 5-10mph range.
PM – Similar to Thursday, winds will pick up a touch in the afternoon. Should still be looking at winds between 10-15mph sustained as a max (and I’d lean closer to 10).
SAT & SUN – Quiet weather with similar winds to close out the tournament.
OVERALL – My general rule is to try to avoid max winds, but… that assumes that max winds are going to be troublesome, and in this case I don’t really think they will be. If you land on a toss-up between two guys, feel free to use this as a tie-breaker (very slight advantage towards Thurs PM / Fri AM slot), but I don’t think you need to make weather a focal point of your build this time around.
