That is amazing. You managed to fit GOAT in there as well!

I ended up pretty well (~10x) in Euro last week even with a 5/6, and somehow managed to 2x in PGA thanks to Uncle Phil. Fortune favors the cookie.

This week I went with a fairly old guy lineup plus Dechambeau. I have Stenson and Casey at the top. Still not sure what I’m going to do with one and done – I am up to 15th/~1000 or so in one pool so need to make a considered choice. Right now I am thinking CH3 and will probably go that way.

    Good luck fellow degenerates.

  • GaryScott59

Not messing with my lineups. Have Rose in one, Casey in another, CH3, Hadwin and Hadley and Stricker mixed in with a couple others. Chalk be damned if they finish high.

Last two podcasts I listened to have mentioned completely fading the Thursday afternoon players. The morning wave players are gonna have massive ownership levels if the forecast holds up. I hate weeks with weather decisions like this. Not gonna worry too much though because I only play the quarter arcade most weeks anyways.

Are we sure the weather Thursday is even a factor?

Does it look like there will be any advantages due to the wind?

Right now I think that is bad advice as the wind the past few days has been almost the same speed all day long – the wind has not picked up in the afternoon; it was 12-14mph in the morning and 13-15mph in the afternoon. So where is the disadvantage ? Or advantage ? This seems to be consistent with gulf winds that I’ve experienced before as well.

Maybe someone local can comment on this who are going to the tourney but sounds like the podcast guys are assuming that winds will be worse in the afternoon which has not been the case the last two days. Over 24 hours away, it it very tough to predict wind speeds and I’ve only seen 15mph forecasts for Thursday which is not significantly more difficult to play in than a 10mph win as there looks to be wind all day.

Edit – just checked 2 sites that predict hourly wind speeds and both have Thursday morning WORSE that Thursday afternoon. Both have 7am winds of 13-14mph and both have Noon-4pm winds of 10mph. Gusts appear to be only 3-4mph worse than the steady wind so I’m suggesting that (at this point) wind doesn’t make a difference tomorrow and actually the afternoon draw could have a fractionally better weather day (however I think there is more talent and better course fit players teeing off in morning tomorrow vs afternoon draw).

heading to florida this friday after work for spring break time. Got tickets locked and loaded for Sunday. Hopefully I’ll be cheering on some 6/6’s at that point.

I’ve tried to outsmart the weather before and it hasn’t worked out well. If you’re worried about wind, factor that into your decision making process (I’m not fancy enough to have a “model”) and play the guys you like regardless of tee time.

250 seems a little low, no?

  • Jeddy3

Chez and Cam are my only 2 from the PM wave. Most of my 13 players were already in the AM wave, so I just had to switch Harkins (to Keegan) and Casey (to Rose). Hope the wind is a legit factor.

Gonna second this. I’ve overthought way too often with weather or anything switching shares from someone I originally preferred to someone I’d be ok playing and it doesn’t end well.

How many people switched shares off of Hatton last week after he tweeted about the food and runs? Bet whoever you switched to did not outscore Hatton.

Just saying sometimes we look for too many factors.

Ok, maybe I can break the slump this week in golf. My FWIW Valspar info from a site I use. Good Luck to everyone.

“One oddity that you don’t see in most events is the fact that you don’t have many players that shot four rounds in the 60s. Of the 15 champions, only four have accomplished that, in 2002 with K.J. Choi, in 2004 with Vijay Singh, in 2010 with Jim Furyk and 2011 with Gary Woodland.”

With this one I am assuming the numbers presented is a percentage #…….. “Last year it was the 22nd hardest course to make putts between 4 and 8 feet, with 69.47. In 2016 it was the 9th hardest with a 67.06, In 2015 it was the 2nd hardest course with 64.25. In 2014 it was the 3rd hardest course to make putts from 4 to 8 feet while in 2013 it ranked 6th. In putts inside 10 feet, it ranked 26th last year, 9th hardest in 2015 and 4th on the PGA Tour in 2014.”

“Since 2005 it’s been in the bottom six every year of shortest driving average course.”

“ Winds will peak at 14 mph on Thursday, 7mph on Friday, 11 mph on Saturday and the most active day will be Sunday with winds getting into 20 mph. Sunday is also going to be tough with thunderstorms most of the day.”

So, with only a prize pool of $3,000 and a field of 1,190, you would need 190 people to not hit 250 to at least get your money back? Just doesn’t seem worth the risk for what could be pocket change. Maybe I am looking at this wrong? Might throw one in so I can track what the payout ends up being.

This offering is soooo bad – typical of FD.

You enter a contest to beat a score of 250, when we already know that about 90% of entries already do that. $3 entry 1190 people – $3570 collected, FD keeps $570 and the 1190 people fight for an equal share of $3000. What happens if more than 84% (1000/1199) score 250+ ?
Well if that happens…..and it is very possible – then your $3 entry this week pays $2.95 and that’s if you WIN. They should set these totals to beat at a stretch value where only 10-33% hit those values then for all the people that complain about Min cashing only could now win 2.5-7x by beating the score.
