Not directly DFS-related, but I felt like I should warn anyone who lives in a state where online sportsbooks / casinos are legal. DraftKings Sportsbook and FanDuel Sportsbook / BetFair Casino are both outstanding offerings with support staffs that nearly always try to do the right thing for the customer (e.g. when they have a bug or a site outage that impacts customers).

Yahoo’s partner (BetMGM), on the other hand, is a train wreck by comparison. On numerous occasions over the past few months they have had outages/bugs that caused a promo to not pay out as stated and also are notorious for sneaky hidden terms & conditions buried in fine print aimed at tricking customers. The latest example is a 50% deposit match in which the promo clearly states “This bonus holds a 25x wagering requirement” without any mention of the deposited funds being restricted as well, but it turns out that they are. And the other night I won a poker tournament ticket that was supposed to expire in 24 hours. It mysteriously disappeared long before the deadline and their support staff just apologized and refused to issue a new ticket.

Without exception, whenever you reach out to BetMGM support they always apologize and tell you that there’s nothing that they can do (if you’re lucky enough to actually get a response at all). When I see other people posting grievances like this against a DFS / Sportsbook site I am often skeptical and assume that the individual mis-read some terms etc. But I have experienced this type of situation with BetMGM so many times (and have heard the same story from other users) that it’s pretty clear they fall somewhere between a dysfunctional organization and a full-on scam, in my opinion.

Be warned before you open an account and deposit any money!

Thank you. I see their promos often. I will stay away.

I would certainly recommend it. It’s a shame, too, because they actually have a nice app with good promos but their support staff is so terrible that it’s just not worth the hassle. They simply don’t honor the stated terms of their promos, etc. You will end up just getting stressed out and losing money.

Adding to the above, their DFS product has really been crappy ever since they started catering to the sharks and getting rid of their “fair play”. (no more 10 entri max and blind eyes to blatant collusion with numerous users). I used to mostly play on Yahoo but I’ve rarely played in months and moved most of my action to DK.

Yahoo still has entry limits, at least for low stakes contest. I don’t see the point of collusion at Yahoo, since they don’t offer large contests outside of football. You can’t try to win 500 dollars on a dollar entry fee there.

Yahoo is the most professional ran site. They’re a tad slower to officially rule out an scratched player. But aside from that, I have little complaint. DK is optimization land and their pricing algorithm is just nonsense. Their player pool is cluttered with inactive players, even in snake draft contests. And min cash for their non coin games is only 1.5X.

Perhaps BetMGM is not a trustworthy partner for Yahoo, but as far as DFS is concerned, Yahoo is solid IMO. It’s the best site for hockey because they use two goalies and they properly price back up goalies.

I agree, I find Yahoo’s DFS offering rather sterile & boring compared to FD and DK, but I have no gripes with it. I am also a big fan of Yahoo’s season-long fantasy leagues. But it boggles my mind that they would partner with a dumpster fire like BetMGM.

I work in the online sports betting industry and can confirm everything in this thread is not only true, it’s maliciously intentional. The people making decisions at BetMGM are, to say it bluntly, not good human beings.

I have been with them since they launched in Tennessee and think they are great ! Always very responsive and I just got the same 50 percent promo but it was a 1x play through. I would highly recommend them

It sounds like their Tennessee team and product offering are very different from NJ. BetMGM NJ is the poster child of dysfunction and lack of integrity. Since they have a separate support email address for each state, it’s totally believable that each state would offer a different experience.

Completely agree. I’m not sure how it works for them nationally, but when I looked into working there, their CS team was shared with Borgata’s online gambling platform.

Good to know, thanks…guess we should steer clear of Borgata as well!

What happens if you had a issue and you just take it to the gaming board of xyz state? Would that solve the issue?

My experience with BetMGM was awful. I’m in Tennessee.

They lured me in with a promo. But the promo was nowhere to be found on the platform or in any way I tried to build a bet slip.

It took me DAYS to figure out why. Literally multiple emails to them, a thread here in RG, a thread on Reddit, a thread on my local news website, and a post on their FB page simply asking how to reach customer support.

After all of this, I did reach a live rep. Turns out the promo didn’t show up anywhere because it was a “trust us” promo. Place the bet and it will be paid out with the bonus, though it would not state that anywhere on my bet slip.

So I withdrew my initial deposit without ever having made a bet with them. I’ll spare you the details on how long that took.

Oh, and to this day, none of those emails have ever been responded to. And my FB post on their page, though it drew some chatter from other bettors frustrated with their business model, has not been addressed. This was probably 6 months ago, give or take a few days.
