Pretty disappointed in rotogrinders for not having field conditions alert until game was called 2 mins after lock. Looking into after alert they were questioning field conditions 20 minutes or more before lock.

  • fftomster

https://rotogrinders.com/weather/mlb. There was an alert one hour before the lock.

  • Tanner131

it was also all over twitter…

  • jsteele1020

I didn’t see it either and got 0 points for 5 players ugh

  • ElSlappo

Yeah I didn’t see this until a few minutes ago, made the mistake of thinking I was all set at around 5:40 CST. Of my 10 Yahoo teams, 7 have at least one Phillie, maybe those 3 others will strike gold. I don’t think RG is to blame though, I just picked the wrong night to not be vigilant all the way through lock

  • jrslick920

If it was all over twitter. How about a DFS alert. Very few people had any idea. This is unacceptable from the phillies organization. As a group we need to call these teams and have are voice heard. Just called the phils front office 2154636000. I will follow up Tuesdays. This lack of respect needs to end. If they are going to advertise all over the stadium then respect DFS.

  • jrslick920

I read the weather link. No talk of officials considering postponement due to field conditions. There phillies are 25% owned all over fanduel. No one had a clue.

  • Skins79

No not their fault I got busy at work and didn’t check the weather report. I was talking about the push notifications I get from the alerts page I tend to get busy the hour before lock but make sure to check the push alerts and nothing on this until after lock. At least I didn’t have a lot in play tonigh. Still hate dead entries before it even starts

  • jrslick920

I get push alerts too didn’t get one.

As I said in the MLB thread (before this thread was even created as this was predictable):

“For the record, Kevin Roth repeatedly said it wasn’t weather related in Crunch Time for over the last 1/2 hour. Anyone watching that or his twitter would have known there was a chance it would get postponed.”

It was an extreme outlier and something that simply doesn’t happen often. I even have 30 philly stacks along with a ton of Philly exposure in pretty much most of my 150 lineups. The game wasn’t 100% cancelled until after lock and we really didn’t get a great idea it was going to be for sure cancelled until minutes before lock.

Keep in mind, IF RG sends out an alert that a game could possibly get cancelled due to field conditions and then the game plays and the Phillies hit 5 home runs, imagine the outrage then when 100’s of people move off them.

  • Skins79

Even if it wasn’t weather related I pay for information about possible postponements likely or not I may still have kept my lineup the same or maybe not if it was known I think an alert with that information is something that should have been shared to each their own if they choose risk reward. I’m definitely not outraged just disappointed

  • Skins79

Have had similar situations in basketball when there is ice under court and always get an alert about possible postponements

  • bigez952

We all should be pissed at the Phillies and not Rotogrinders. How the hell do they postpone a game after the scheduled start time due to field conditions. They should have some respect for their fans and call the game hours in advance if the field is questionable before everyone pays for parking and gets in the stadium. Sure I lost 100% of my contests tonight due to not getting an alert until after lock but I would be way more pissed if I was at that game as a ticket holder.

An alert saying there was a possibility would’ve been well-received

Assuming it was accurate, even if the game played, there would not have been much outrage

In this case, with the normal final weather update indicating no issues (normally no updates after 5 pm eastern on weather page) an alert would have been appropriate

You guys should really also follow Roth on twitter and keep an eye on all things twitter prior to lock. There were several rumblings on twitter about this issue but the game was not called until after lock. This is totally on the Phillies, not RG. If you play DFS seriously you need to follow all the beat reporters for each MLB team, NFL Team, NBA team etc…

I do follow Roth on Twitter but the push alert that came from Rotogrinders at 4:30pm CST stated “updated forecast has no major concerns” so I had no reason to double check abd follow Roth or any teams Twitter.

I was shocked when the push alert from RG came out at 6:12pm CST after lock saying that game was PPD. I missed something since all indications was there was no major risk so I didn’t have any reason to watch Roth’s Twitter closely. I don’t play the NBA since with my schedule I can’t hawk Twitter every single day for 6 months. So for the MLB I only do it when there is some sort of warning or legit threat of a PPD out there. But this is a rare instance and not the norm at least.

At the end of the day I would have lost anyway with Kluber going below 0 and I still put 100% of the blame on Phillies for not calling the game hours earlier if the field was a safety concern.

  • mavrik2190

Second day in a row I lost the majority of my lineups due to a scratch or a non weather matter after lock. I found out about the possible cancellation 3 minutes before lock. No time to make changes. Its stupid to continue to go through this. Draftkings and Fanduel should either have refunded all money or extended the slate until the double header today. I’m contemplating closing my accounts.

  • wolfjb1

People who lost money are not paying attention. You win in DFS by paying attention and putting in the work. Work includes digging in to Twitter. I follow the Nats beat writer Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post and she pretty clearly telegraphed that the field was bordering on unplayable an hour or more prior to the game. The MASN beat guy for the Nationals was also posting about the poor field conditions in the late afternoon. I left in a Phillies stack in one lineup, gambling that the field problems would be fixed, and that didn’t turn out well, but I knew the risk.

I had some Phillies also. I live in NJ and the rain/drizzle had stopped hours earlier but I guess some areas still had some. It was a very damp couple of days for sure. I checked the official site of the team and at 6:57 they stated that they had the grounds crew out using blowtorches attached to carts or something. No mention of a possible cancel. Fans were there etc. A few mins after lock it was canceled officially.

In the USA as more and more states offer legal sports gambling I hope they come up with a more acceptable solution to calling games like this one. Tens years from now we will likely have federal oversight but until then these types of called games and occurrences will raise suspicions.
