Interesting picks. I only considred An, Hahn, and Stricker out of those. Hoffman extremely low owned with high upside

Spieth/Perez/Na core. hoping Prez can keep it up and Na finds his tee to green game.

Played Reavie, O’hair, Stanley, Hughes, Molder, Castro, and Streb as some lower salaried guys

  • traviswhite

Picking between streb, oos, and berger. Any thought?

  • miamimunich

Tough call. I am personally a fan of Streb but a lot of other people are big on oosty and berger.
Oosty has let me down many times so I usually stay away from him.
I would choose between Streb and Berger, I think Streb will be lower owned.
Other than that its hard to distinguish a big difference

how many hours into this golf tourny and you’re already having a sweat about winning a gpp? did only one other person enter a lineup?

You must be new here… Plenty of people write off their chances or think they have a winning LU before the 1st Tee time…

  • twinkie86

I agree with Sir Nick Faldo that Tiger has no clue where the ball is going. It could be he is physically hurt again or losy his mojo,

  • Jmilko5

I’m new to DFS golf. What website/Twitter page can I use to get the best late breaking news? I started a guy that withdrew last week and missed cash because of it.

  • SelfCharmer

Finally trimmed the field down to about 25 guys, now need to make some tough decisions to get those down even more. Looking like the 4 guys I love the most are Speith Rahm Knox and An.

What did I say about chalk?

  • QSchoolDropOut

    Jmilko,

What I do is check the leaderboard at PGAtour.com 20 minutes or so before play begins. If a player WD’s, the player’s name will be on the bottom of the leaderboard saying he withdrew. I am sure there are also twitter accounts that update it too. Having said that, there is always a chance you will get screwed. because any player can pull out of the event right before his tee time. Still, this hasn’t happened to me in a long time, What happened to you las tweek is sort of wierd, and many weeks I don’t even check because I am too busy. But I know that it will bite me in the ass one of these weeks.

I have some of your guys in Perez, Na, Molder Streb and Stanley but I think all of those will be higher owned than the lower owned guys I shared so didn’t mention them

I hear people talking a lot about An. I have exactly zero shares. Is my weekend over?

    Some I look at are:
    RobBolton
    PGATour
    PGATourMedia

Also make sure you check this forum as people are good about telling you if someone WD.

I slap check DK as well by trying to create a new lineup and scrolling thru the player list looking for a red O.

And yes you can still get screwed as a player can WD after lock before his tee time or after playing only a few holes ofr even after his crappy 1st round (like Si Woo Kim did last week to me).

  • Ndepompei

What do you guys expect when you roster tiger?

How about your Fades ? Some of my expensive or chalky fades were:
Spieth, JT, Knox, Woodland, Oosty, Reed, Finau, Bradley

Those are some bold fades, at least compared to my ownership exposures…

lol obviously a prisoner of the moment but when you have your other 5 guys almost done with the first round and all within the top 5 then you have tiger…it is frustrating lol

Gotta take some bold stands in places

Also some of those guys will likely be 20%+ so for me to take them I’d have to own them at 33%+ and I didn’t like them enough

I either over own the chalk or basically fade it – I don’t see how owning it at a similar level to the field benefits you long term.

  • SelfCharmer

Completely fading Bubba this week, and I do not like it one bit.

Recent Form is a massive factor for me when considering golfers, as confidence plays a huge part. With so many other options at that range, it should be a fun ride

  • QSchoolDropOut

I have changed my approach this week and gone with some chalky lineups. For example, all of my lineups have Kuchar.

I have been doing too much of the contrarian, I believe. I have been playing too many golfers who are lowly owned. My thinking had been that golf is so random that any of the players can have a great week, and if I want to hit it big I have to take these risks. Then after the first round and some of my guys are T115 I ask myself what in the hell I was thinking.

Here’s my question. Do you think my chalky lineups will be duplicated by a lot of players? This week it seems like there are so many obvious plays. But there are still 150 players. If you think about hitting the powerball. You get six picks out of 80 numbers. Here you have 150 different “numbers” that you can choose from. So my chalky lineups, still might be unique given the sheer volume of players to choose from. What do you think??

  • astauty

I wont lie, I played a Euro golf one just for fun cause I wanted to play tiger one last time. I have a -7 -4 -1 -1 +2 (stupid Donaldson @ 1% ownership… could have won me a gpp :P) and tiger.. needless to say the shine is gone and I wont be rostering him anymore till he proves he’s not a scrub.

I’m part Korean so I always play a little bit of him.

  • Jamcclea

My hold fades of the week are Tony finau and bubba. Have zero.

I completely agree with you, the only reason i commented as you listed most of the guys I have at over 30% exp lol

GL (although if you do well I will be crushed)

If Finau, An and Knox all make the cut (along with Speith) then I should be in for a good week.

Maxed the QA with 25 players in the 50 LUs

23 Entries in the Birdie/ChipShot/ShortGame with 20 players but much higher Exp to the guys I really like and the lower ones just sprinkled in.

Locked and loaded ready to lose it all over the weekend!

Its normally good to differentiate a LU in some way, but it doesn’t have to be the complete LU.

Some good examples of differentiating (transferable to all sports) are:

Leave Salary on the Table: IN other words, players rarely leave too much on the table, you can get 6 chalky guys who are all highly owned but if you have left like $2k on the table (really easy this week) then it is unlikely someone will duplicate it, as they are tempted to look up who they can swap out for a higher salary guy.

1 Differential: This is usually a route I take, you can have 5 chalky players, but if your 6th guy (usually my low salary guy) is under 3/4% owned, your LU has a great chance of being unique. IMO there isn’t much point in going with the crowd on the low salary guys, you are punting but have little chance of it being a differential, so what is the point in the punt?

LU Texture: What I mean by this is, on a week where salaries lead towards a stars and scrubs LU (this week we have lots of good options who are under-priced, meaning you can be more comfortable with stars and scrubs as you can fit in more stars). That means players in the 8-9k range will be under-owned relative to other weeks. Therefore playing a LU which has no stars or scrubs, and all avg salary players, you should run into less duplicates. The reverse is true as well, when the scrubs are really poor, making a stars and scrubs LU will not be what the rest of the crowd do.

Hope this helps anyone who bothers to read it/ actually puts any stock into things I say lol

You are making a mistake fading Finau. He may end up being ~18% owned but he’s finishing in the top 5. Differentiate elsewhere.

I have a lot of shares. I think he has as good a shot as any to return value at that price. I assume more flock to the likes of Berger and Kuchar, who I have mostly faded. Have a little berger.

Building my reserved lus this morning, I feel more chalky than I should but I often fall on the side of more chalk than not because I would rather play say, Rahm and Woodland than Fowler, who I don’t trust yet surely could do damage this week. Then try and let my last guy or 2 be a little contrarian to be different

wound up with Bubba than I had planned. He just plays so well here. Figure more might go to Phil or even Steele, though Bubba will surely be high, too.
