    Wednesday Weather Update

What an annoying forecast, National Weather Service Mets have a chance at storms tonight in every single city except LA, which means I knock out a full forecast for each one… Good news: Most of them look absolutely fine.

HOU @ PHI – Iso storms in forecast, not in real life. GREEN

MIA @ PIT – Iso storms in forecast, not in real life. GREEN

CLE @ CIN – Iso storms in forecast, not in real life. GREEN

    There’s 3 down :)

DET @ NYY – 1 cluster of storms in the area, looks like that will miss NY to the east. GREEN

NYM @ WASH – Most of the rain passes south, but 2 or 3 showers would be on track to pass near the stadium if they can hold together. Not a big threat here, just light rain even IF the little showers happen to perfectly go over the stadium. GREEN / YELLOW

CHC @ COL – A few pop-up storms around, those are forecast to fade. We should be fine. YELLOW / GREEN

BOS @ STL – A few rounds of storms in the forecast, the most worrisome of them would come in the late evening hours. 1 concern here is that the local radar is either down, or just acting up, so it’s tough to get a really good read on this. Future Model data has one weaker line of storms early game, potentially causing a delay if they track over the stadium, then another round later (currently forecast to be after game-end, though the system could accelerate and change that). I’ve got this as a ORANGE / YELLOW right now. Will likely pop on to update when new models come out and radar gets it’s shit together.

    Color scale reminder:

    Tweet me your thoughts, @KevinRothWx.

As always, it’s just a forecast, things can (and will) change. Best of luck!

    - Kevin

    thank you!

Thanks for the info. If you are ever on the east coast (WPB) let me know so I can buy you a beer.

Kevin, you clearly put a lot of effort into these forecasts and as others say (and I’ve said before myself) it is very much appreciated…I quit looking at all other forecasts as soon as your post appears.

Now if you could just tell me who the double-donger will be tonight…LOL

    Thanks again!

Damn so are you guys staying away from the BOS/STL game? I like Wong and Taveras as punt options but Orange/Yellow is a little concerning.

Fat adams is in for me in dbls and 50/50

I bailed, took out Wong/Taveras for Aybar/Reimold…..I like the switch

Sucks, because I had quite a few Cardinals in my lineups. But I trust Kevin, too much of a risk for cash games, so out they come!

  • erikpoch

I agree, not worth it with so many options out there, I kept Brock Holt in one game but everyone else is out…at least I feel better now :)

I don’t see anyway that the cardinals and red Sox don’t get some kind of official game in. These two teams don’t play again (obviously) and I doubt they’d feel comfortable scheduling a double header tomorrow with all the rain in the forecast for tomorrow. So while I wouldn’t take either pitcher I think you’re pretty safe with the hitters.

Radar is up in StL, and future model data still brings in those storms after the game. I’m still slightly concerned, and still somewhere between a yellow and orange. It’s not terrible, but there’s at least some risk involved. Tommy, West Palm Beach? Worth it for a beer!

Should I fade Cardinals Red Sox?

I think worst case would likely be the game getting called early if those storms make it before the last out.

  • infy72

I decided to stick it out. Hope it’s worth it.

Same. Early storms could cause a delay, then clearing, then late storms could possibly have it called early.
