    RG Chief Meteorologist

UPDATE TO CHI GAMES – Light rain is falling over and around Chi, but we should be able to play through it. The bigger concern is the ugly rain mass southwest of CHI that could arrive late, this would bring heavier rain. Models have it tracking very close to or just south of Chicago. I still think the majority (if not all) of this game plays OK, but that 2nd rain shield could cause enough problems for me to keep this as YELLOW (with a hint of ORANGE).

Thanks for all the kind words on the AM post, now let’s get into another tricky forecast tonight:

OAK @ NYY – Rain around now, but it will slowly clear and dry up. YELLOW for late start potential.

SD @ PIT- Light rain on the way, but juuuust as it arrives, it should be eroding. 2 different forecast models have this system drying out just as it reaches PIT. GREEN/ YELLOW.

HOU @ CLE – Same situation as Pit game, radar looks impressive now, and showers are on the way, but they should also start to fade just as they arrive. GREEN/ YELLOW.

MIA @ BOS – Rain and storms stay just south. GREEN (tiny hint of yellow).

ARI @ TEX – Line of storms we’ve seen all day in North Texas is mostly dry and gone, the lingering showers will continue to fade through tonight. GREEN (tiny hint of yellow).

STL @ CHC – Light rain is falling over and around Chi, but we should be able to play through it. The bigger concern is the ugly rain mass southwest of CHI that could arrive late, this would bring heavier rain. Models have it tracking very close to or just south of Chicago. I still think the majority (if not all) of this game plays OK, but that 2nd rain shield could cause enough problems for me to keep this as YELLOW (with a hint of ORANGE.

TB @ KC – Light showers are cleared. GREEN.

TOR @ CWS – Same as CHC game. YELLOW/ ORANGE.

LAA @ COL – It’s a LOT like last night. It’s moderate rainfall all across Colorado, currently including Denver. That rain will slowly fade, but models do hold on to it for a decent amount of time. Last night the rain faded a solid 2+ hours before models predicted, and we could very well see that again. For now I think it likely will play, but I have to keep at least some low PPD risk in, in case one of these heavy showers sits over the stadium through the night. YELLOW (with a hint of ORANGE). Do with this info as you will, don’t tweet me about it the next morning :)

That’s all for now, stick with me on Twitter (@KevinRothWx) for updates and radar images.

I know 99.9% of you are really truly appreciative of myself and RG for the weather work, so a sincere thank you goes out to all of you.

Happy Grinding, I’ll hop back on as updates are needed,

Roth – The amount of time you put into providing a free service amazes me. Considering how successful you have been, I am surprised you have yet to go tout. And quite honestly I would not blame you!

  • carrotts91

Can I blame you for Scherzer? Since everyone else is blaming you for decisions they made.

  • Ricer

Kevin, you are the absolute best. I can’t believe how ridiculous people are. Thank you for everything you do, the work you go to, and the high degree of accuracy you achieve with your forecasts night after night after night. Fade the losers, and I hope you get a sense of the appreciation you have from, I believe, the vast majority of people who turn to you for daily insights. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO!!!

That’s ridiculous for him to get tweets like that. Even if he was off (which he wasn’t) we’re getting detailed information for free that takes a long time to obtain without him. He didn’t even say don’t pick players from the Coors game!!!

If the game hadn’t played someone would have hated for not going red. Keep doing you roth, if nothing else take solace in the fact that we lose to variance way more than you might haha!

    Keep on keeping on, Kevin!

Where I live, we don’t even get much weather and the forecasters are so often off base.

    You do an excellent job…thanks!!!

Kevin – Your forecasts are the SINGLE BIGGEST AID on this site – and I’ve been a member here for Many Years… Just please keep doing what you do – it is WAY WAY better than any other place I found for accurate forecasts.

Haters are gamblers and gamblers are always looking for an excuse…. but Grinders appreciate you – especially those of us who don’t tweet…

So Please stay the course – ignore the ignorant and THANKS! for your simple and clear aid with that crazy weather,..

  • derekio

I base all my weather decisions off of Kevin Roth, If you dont feel right about a game, stay away from it. Simple as that. Dont blame the weather guy, as you prob would have rostered the wrong guys in that stack anyway.

    2 FACTS:

    1) Roth is the best weather reported for DFS and I watch/listen to several of them. Its not close. Some conjure up possibilities of weather when there isn’t any to “earn their check”

    2) If 2014/2015 has taught us anything, its that cowards relish social media, trying to bring others down to their miserable level of inferiority. #DFS twitter adds a multiplier effect.

Bonus Fact- Roth is the GOAT, proven out by this….

Kevin, thanks for the great job that you do! Now you know how someone like Trout feels when the ungrateful imperfects spew their idiocy at the best in the game.

With our having heard, “Get ‘em a body bag”, long before you did last night, take our advice. Have Confidence in yourself and your ability.

Kevin you are the most reliable, friendly, accessible, and smartest MAS (Master of Atmospheric Science) I know. Keep up the great and hard work and know that it is appreciated.

  • BIGB

I’ve been coming on this site for several years and your weather posts are the first thing I look at on here. You are absolutely hands down one of the best assets RG has. Keep up the amazing work, sir! Rotogrinders, Kevin needs a raise!

i don’t really participate in online forums, i don’t like speaking much.

but i am a huge, huge weather geek and an even bigger sports nerd. so i understand how insanely variable everything is. i have been under tornado warnings with a storm a couple miles to my west and, before it hit me, split into 2 cells and we never even got rain. anyone who doesn’t understand the fundamentally unpredictable nature of weather is either an idiot (which you should ignore) or an asshole (which you should ignore)

so, basically, thank you for taking time out of what you do to do this as well. it’s incredibly helpful, even for people who love meteorology and took several college classes in it for fun.

don’t even respond to the idiots and assholes. you know you do a great job, you know you care, and you know you don’t half-ass it. as long as you are good with yourself, and in yourself, you can just ignore everyone who doesn’t care enough to appreciate/understand that.

thank you, again. you do great work.

  • FantasyFansFolo

This will probably be the Forum with the most replies because so many of us appreciate what you do Roth. You have a better approval rate than any presidential candidate. Keep it up!

  • arobben

You are the man. Period. Anyone who takes the time to hate-tweet you is a P.O.S.

  • MattTruss223

People suck so bad. Screw ‘em Kevin, you’re the best. Your forecasts and updates are crucial to my DFS planning. So much better than floundering on my own. I tell everyone I know that plays DFS to follow you, it’s such a big advantage to have a pro in your corner. It’s always a risk/reward thing with weather, people should get that. Man, what a bummer that people suck this bad. Hopefully you’re showered with praise and thanks today and it makes up for the twitter boobs of last night. Don’t let ‘em get ya down and keep up the awesome work.

  • yeahthisiscuddy

Your forecast got me off Liriano/on Cueto and stopped me from switching Kluber for Walker, so thanks for all that.

  • rdj89

Ignore the morons on twitter. I’m not sure how I could play most of these slates without your updates. Your work provides tremendous value to the site.

Even before the games started last night, I was kind of disgusted by the questions you were getting from people who seemed like they just wanted you to make a decision for them. I can only imagine what you got after. Thanks for the time you put into this.

    Roth is the man!!!

  • FSInsiders

Roth, you’re the best in the business hands-down. Keep up the incredible work you do. Just know that no matter what, you won’t ever completely escape the haters and “shitty-tweeters”. You just gotta let it go and block them if you so choose. In fact, as more people find about your awesome work, the level of haterade and garbage tweets will probably increase. There’s no escaping it. It’s a sign that your overall popularity is increasing. More success always brings more haters. The DFS community a whole loves what you do!
