Forecast for 5/24, updates 5:30 eastern

A few close calls today, but I think they work out OK…

CIN @ CLE – Forecast here remains on track, first batch of rain has cleared as expected, with the second batch poised to move in a bit later tonight. Models show the rain arriving late-game or just after. I’m optimistic that most (if not all) of the game will play, though they may have to battle some rain late. Down to YELLOW / ORANGE for the chance they can’t finish a full 9. Winds ESE at 10-15mph, blowing mostly right to left, a bit out to left.

COL @ PHI – Rain holds off. GREEN . Winds east at 10mph, blowing in from right-center.

SEA @ WASH – Rain holds off. GREEN . Winds ESE at 10-15mph, blowing right to left.

PIT @ ATL – Forecast looks good here too, storms have cleared east as expected, with the second batch not arriving until well after the game. GREEN . Winds W at 10mph, blowing mostly across the park, right to left.

SF @ CHC – We will see some rain tonight in Chicago, though I expect it will remain fairly light. Rain is currently less than 20 miles from the stadium, and slowly moving that direction, but the entire system will shift a bit south later tonight, leaving them decent enough weather to play ball. I think a late start is possible here, but game should otherwise play. I’m a little nervous overall because it’s Chicago, and they seem to make some “interesting” weather choices, but based on weather alone, this is YELLOW / ORANGE for late start potential. Winds north at 15mph, blowing in from left-center.

So fading the Cleveland game early would be a wise move, stupid 5:10 start time on the early slate makes it very difficult to manage especially with threat of rain.

Why does Cleveland start their home night games an hour earlier than normal, it´s odd.

They do it that way during the school year so kids can attend the games and not get home too late

Pretty sure it’s more cause of Cavs games and not knowing the schedule when they go to make it. You can literally throw a ball from left field entrance and hit the Q. So traffic is already a joke down there, but add a playoff game going next door causes issues. I mean I don’t bother trying to drive to games during cavs playoffs because no where to park and the amount of construction on highways surrounding Cleveland is pretty high. They will go back to 7pm starts usually late June and stay there till year end.

It isn’t because the Cavs. They have been doing this for a few years. I used to work for Progressive and have first hand knowledge this is why they do it.

They also want to start them early so more people are just getting off work and going straight to the game.

probably, but not sure this is the reason why.

I have a 7 year old son, and I would love to be able to go to games that start an hour earlier instead of 30 minutes before his bedtime.

Not sure if you have kids, but dealing with an exhausted kid the next day is a miserable experience.

That makes sense, but it makes DFS planning a pain in the butt. :)
