    RG Chief Meteorologist

Pretty big night for weather in baseball, strong winds and plenty of rain…

UPDATE TO WASH – based on radar trends, now at *YELLOW / ORANGE * – still some risk, especially late.

ARI @ WASH – This is what you call playing with fire. Flash Flood Watch starts at 6PM. 90% t-storm chance from NWS. Increasing rain the later the game goes. The good news here is that the first batch of heavy rain is going to pass just east of DC, and there’s decent clearing upstream, which should actually buy us some time. The bad news is that forecast models fill in that “decent clear upstream air” with increasing storms every hour. I think this game will play in some capacity, I’m just not sure if it’s going to finish. I’m slightly more optimistic now than I was this morning (because that heavy batch is missing east), but there’s still plenty of concern, with more storms ready to fire anywhere at anytime. YELLOW / ORANGE

BOS @ NYY – Some drizzle, but nothing too heavy or scary. GREEN / YELLOW . Winds NE 15-20mph, that’s blowing in from left (note: an earlier version of this forecast had the winds from a different direction).

CHC @ PIT – Steady rain is swirling just west of PIT, and will likely stay just west. GREEN / YELLOW . Winds east at 10mph, blowing in from right center.

CLE @ DET – Might catch a decent window of clearing in DET, with a somewhat dry section of the low swirling in. Passing showers are definitely possible, maybe even likely, so they will have to decide to play through some rain, but it doesn’t currently look like anything too heavy is on the way. YELLOW .

TB @ CWS – Pretty potent batch of storms crossing Lake Michigan and heading towards Chicago now. Passing showers and t-storms through the night could easily cause a delay. PPD would only happen if a narrow band of moisture sits on top of Chicago, which isn’t very likely, but I can’t fully rule it out. YELLOW / ORANGE . Winds north at 20-25mph, with gusts around 30mph, that’s a really healthy wind blowing out to right.

CIN @ STL – Winds north at 10mph, blowing in from left.

COL @ SF – Typical WSW wind blowing at 15-20mph out to left-center, just keep in mind that the stadium minimizes the impacts of wind from that direction.

Be sure to follow on Twitter, @KevinRothWx, radar updates coming,

    Happy Grinding,
    Kevin
