updated 5:30PM EASTERN
STL game got the early PPD as expected… but we still need to watch a couple spots tonight:
TOR @ NYY – NW winds 15mph, blowing out to right.
BAL @ BOS – NW winds at 10-15mph, blowing right to left across the field.
CLE @ DET – Rain overnight. GREEN.
PIT @ CIN – This one is actually ending up a bit dicier than I would have liked, right on the tail end of a large swath of rain, CIN looks like it’s in for multiple rounds of light rain through the night. If this was based just on the weather, I would go yellow, because I don’t expect it to ever be heavy enough to stop play… but because I don’t know what Cincy’s owners want to do about this, I’m going YELLOW / ORANGE. The issue is simple enough, if they WANT to play, they can. If they don’t want to play, they have a decent enough excuse to worm out of it… but since my primary color here is yellow, I obviously think they just deal with it and play. Winds ENE at 10mph, blowing in from left.
NYM @ ATL – Rain overnight. GREEN.
PHI @ CHC – Rain overnight. GREEN. Getting a lot of questions about wind here, and it is gently in from center, but since it’s under 10mph, I wouldn’t factor it in to your decision making.
OAK @ MIN – Still looking at a chance for some late-inning showers, but models in decent agreement that the rain will likely arrive at the end of the game or after it, and be weak enough to not cause any major problems. YELLOW.
CWS @ KC – This forecast (and the STL PPD) are remarkably on track from my 4am forecast. The last of the rain is just now clearing out of KC, and as long as the field is still playable, they are good to go. I assume if the field was swamped we would have heard about it by now, so, play ball. YELLOW / GREEN for the off-chance the field is in trouble.
MIL @ STL – PPD RED
