DK is running a promo for risk free contests all week. Wednesday is a $3 PGA entry. If you don’t cash, the entry fee is refunded.

I guess they are taking a page out of Talor Gooch’s book on that.

I think the $3 entry fee back contest is full. someone in it tell me how many people it was for?
I guess you will need to be quick to get in them.

    9908/9908 (Full)

Link: I’d share it, but DK doesn’t let me do that with a full contest. Just my own contest entry url, which won’t work for anyone else. I guess I can do it after the contest starts.

I see from LFN’s Euro contest we’re staying in the Canary Islands at Costa Adeje. Kind of wish I was there right now.

So, I guess this will be the Henley/Grillo week. Probably just had the timing off by 1

Good thing they played so poorly last week, so we can jam them in this week for profits. That’s how it works right?

I thought the same thing 2 weeks ago. then I looked at the weather and the water temp. To me I was expecting Aruba weather and what I saw was Jersey shore weather in May.

Grillo I can deal with but Henley has the yips on the greens. It’s obvious. No para mi senor.

Happy Meal Cup standings after Valspar.
    https://1drv.ms/x/s!AiKGps2bl5SRomYQczWYoHCf64hZ

1971hof retakes the lead with a Valspar win.

a new contestant finished 7th, Penaldhno. well done. I dont know but it seems to me guys who play the first time in our contest do well. I dont think our contest is tougher than a single entry gpp. probably easier since its only 100 people. I think its Gods way to bring them in and hook em. Who else had a good first week and wonder where the mojo went?

Add Im to this list. Mega chalk last week and let us all down.

This just seems like a week where I’ll zig where the majority zags. I like Sungjae and a few others in the high price range, but I’ll avoid Homa, maybe Ancer (my 2 favorite golfers) and Zalatoris who I think will be the chalk play.

Reed just hasn’t been himself lately. His lack of a good tee to green game is catching up with him. I’ll pass.

This tournament has seen it’s fair share of weirdos compete and win. In 2016 James Hahn defeated Roberto Castro in a playoff. You can’t make this stuff up.

Not sure, but I remember playing Max Homa quite a bit when he wasn’t so well known. Maybe I had him when he won here in 2019? A reason I wanted to try and find that Happy Meal url.

Is it just marriage that’s a problem, or engagement as well?

I remember that. Hahn won after NINE straight MCs. I also rostered Castro that week if I remember correctly, and he holed out eagle the 18th on day 2 I believe.

Anybody want to predict Ricky boy ownership. Sub 5 maybe.

  • BrianVT

I might have to play Keenan Huskey (qualified today) just so that I can say that name again.

    Dang, Villegas out

Hmmm, maybe time to go heavy Rickie.

Poulter trying to steal from Cink’s playbook this week and has his son Luke caddying for him. Poulter’s regular caddie wants the week off so his 16yr old son Luke is stepping in.

Luke Poulter is around 6’3” and a scratch player; he is also ranked in Top 100-150 in the AJGA rankings. .

Only Australians and Europeans, in case there’s any in here who are not in the private league already. $5 single entry, 80 entries, $530 guaranteed, 15 paid with 1st place $100 and a Bryson hat. For the PGA Championship there’s a tourney where top 2 win a Bryson hat.

Who else had a good first week and wonder where the mojo went?

Been wondering this for a long time! I’ve had a few “good” showings in important events where points are doubled so that has inflated my scores a bit.

PGA has been a bit “weird” for me the past 2 seasons. I’ve almost kind of thrown stats out the door and use CH and RF the most. I think it’s because I “know” who the T2G, SG:App, scrambling, and “ball strikers” are to go after. It’s also seemed the fields have been fairly strong this year, so the “deep diving” isn’t as necessary.

I will admit some of the old CH stuff gets me as I’ll play an old guy with a bunch of “respectable” finishes and then they just go out and MC. I do think field has a bit to do with that but these past 2 seasons have been “different”. I think you guys feel the same?

Yes, field strength comparison when looking at course history is tough to handle, combined with the change to T65 for cutline. There was a guy in here who used to post a google sheet where he would compare how each golfer in the field this week has fared against the other golfers in the field this week in the past, and I think that was an interesting measure to throw into the mix. I forget his name, but I used to look at that and thought it was helpful. I think he used some type of field strength calculation on his own. There are quite a few things I still have on my “nice to have” list for my own data that I slowly chop away at, but not enough time to tackle all of them.

I also think lineup construction and aggregate ownership is becoming more and more important as so many DFS players build experience, use lots of tools, and in general just keep getting better. In the end, we’re not just trying to pick the best golfers like you would do if you were betting, but we’re trying to beat other DFS players. I think I need to get better at the science of predicting what will be chalk, what chalk will fail or be underwhelming, and what chalk you actually need to go 2-3x the field on. You need lineups that beat other lineups (sounds easy/stupid, but easily forgotten also).
