I used to wait until Sunday when it was all over to hit the “Contests” page when I was on my comp… Then the Masters came and I realized I was winning multiple GPP’s after Saturday night and all day Sunday until that damn Kuchar Ace.. I’ll never look at the Contests page again on a big tourney Sunday LOL.

I’ve come to terms that the golf forum every week is the most passionate group, more than the Sunday NFL forum during the regular season. This group is more likely to throw their TV out the window I think.

When is too early to start looking at next week? Thanks to the Early(Mlb) Slate won 2nd ticket to the Milli Maker next week.

    It’s never too early.

Heck, right now I am making graphs, pie charts, algorithms, and Xcel pivot table reports on next year’s Masters.

This type of viewpoint is just going to cost you tons of stress in the long run. There’s zero, and I mean zero, merit to checking your “winnings” in golf on a Thursday. I would argue that there’s still zero merit on Friday.

Am I the only one that really doesn’t even look at current winnings in golf until after the cut has occurred? I follow my golfers plenty but just don’t check contest leaderboards.

Maybe I’m weird, but it really helps the stress level.

I am off every Thursday but work every other weekend and most Fridays so Thursday is my day to watch my scores go up and down. I hardly have the time at work to check the scores/winnings so Thursday is my time for that.

It’s not stressful at all either. My job is highly stressful and dfs is 95% fun for me. I occasionally get riled up towards the end of a NASCAR race because the fluctuations due to crashes, etc are severe to your bottom line. Other than that, I don’t get too emotionally invested. Maybe if I had more money on the like some do but at my levels, it’s not the end of the world if guys I have a lot of like McGirt and Lowry crap the bed early on.

Your right, I never looked at the dates till you said it. I got tickets stocked piled for it and also Albatross tickets to the remaining majors.

Edit: After I won it, I was went to PGA and it was coming up as usable so thought it was for next week. Shocked to see they are getting that out over a month away already, and it has over 1200 entrants already.

    Thoughts on cut line?

Looking like E right now but depends on if the round is delayed or not I suppose.

Sitting decent with just McGirt to sweat

Not even guessing right now as the weather is going to full on Havoc tomorrow, but here you go guess E to +2 if they get out and play tomorrow it will be bad for all on the course.

AccuWeather, which IMO is one of the better ones, shows t-storms in the morning 7-9, then cloudy and like 50% chance of rain until around 2pm. Then sun comes out w/ 15 mph winds and 20 gusts.

Something I’d like to see after Round 1 (if there’s someone with the stat time to do it) is

    • a Top 5 or Top 10 list of highest ownership guys under the current T70 line
    • a Top 5 or Top 10 list of highest ownership guys above the T70 cut line

Maybe use the $4 contest as the ownership average.

10 Highest owned guys within the cut line:
    Rahm (33.4%)
    DJ (29.3%)
    Laird (25.5%)
    Scott (25.5%)
    Berger (21.5%)
    Casey (18.3%)
    Holmes (16.6%)
    Noren (15.7%)
    Molinari (15.6%)
    Poston (14.7%)

10 Highest owned guys below the cut line:
    Kisner (35.0%)
    McGirt (26.7%)
    Bryan (16.4%)
    Lowry (14.4%)
    HV3 (13.7%)
    Simpson (13.5%)
    Cink (13.4%)
    K. Na (4.2%)
    C. Pettersson (4.0%)
    Kjeldsen (3.7%)

Cards I think people enjoy it in many different ways, and to varying degrees.
Another version of what you are saying is that its pointless to enjoy or get frustrated in the first quarter mile in a horse race or the first quarter in a Basketball game. I understand what you are saying and your point was to help alleviate stress and that works for you, but its all very individualistic.
I am sure most understand that their winnings are constantly changing with many variances and outcomes yet to transpire.
What I do not want to happen is for anyone on these forums to feel like they need to conform on how they enjoy and express their experiences, (within reason). There is far too much already of those types of pressures that have taken a foothold on this forum.

Learning this real quick, if I was back in my 20s or even 30s, I would be bouncing off the wall, giving up, trying something different, etc.. I think many here will drive themselves out with time… Like the other post wrote, dont look, it is worthless really.. Never the same, changes quickly and nothing you can do. Come Sat. afternoon, check it out, decide if you are going to double down or not…
Lovin it so far.. Think losing it, stress creates bad thinking, hate this player, Not playing him because of last week, etc.. Every week has to be fresh, clean and without emotion…

  • WidumBoise

I picked the wrong Petterson by accident and will win a GPP because of it.
