    WGC – Bridgestone Invitational

I’ll open the thread but cannot update it or post any links as I’m in a golf tournament this week and packing for a move on July 4th so I’ll trust that other posters can add relevant info about the tourney and any past winners or WD’s.

Playing 1 lineup as I cannot stay away – $33 and $3 GPP’s plus all the satellites

When will bowditch not be in these events anymore?

  • billholler

Anyone have the payout structure? Just curious how many players will even bother playing Saturday if they have no chance of increasing their payday.

  • billholler

I hope Furyk gets a bonus for a birdie free round.

Last year it took T15 to win over 100k, so most of the field is stuck between the 50k minimum and 100k.

If I’m not mistaken, Spieth with the first birdie streak of the tourney.

Jim Herman suddenly not looking too bad.

No kidding. After that terrible start he’s now lower than: Knox, Reed, Furyk, Smylie, An, Leishman, Lowry, Lee, etc…..

Can anyone justify these god awful scores on what should be a reasonable golf course in great weather?

Playing at 7,139 yards, the South Course has a course rating of 75.1. For the tournament, the course plays over 7400 yards, they’ve got the greens running fast, and the rough is up. Who knows what the course rating is under those conditions. This isnt just some average PGA tour course. This is one of the best, and toughest, golf courses in the country.

So you had a notion that somebody would withdraw and screw your teams over? That’s some bad ass intuition.

No I didnt, I had the notion that in large GPPs the mass entry guys could cover most of thr combinations of players with it being such a small field and that I wouldn’t be able to compete against those kinds of odds

In the Birdie, SaahilSud faded Koepka and still losing money at the moment. It’s only day 1. Anyone that avoided heavy exposure to Koepka or Berger has a chance. Only other somewhat high exposure guy to totally shit the bed was Smylie.

Exactly this. Played this course 20 times over the years and it is a bear. The North and the West are great tracks also.

I’d never play another tourney like this again, it appears to be WD city…These scores are worse than US Open scores, I’m getting smashed right now which is ok, can’t win every week…. but the leaderboard looks like a joke, I’m a firm FIRM believer that if you come out and shoot garbage on the first day, you’re head and heart aren’t in it therefore I expect garbage in all rounds after that

This isn’t a crap shoot. Dfs is all skill.

Once again, Akron is supposed to get heavy rain either late tonight or early morning and rain for a while. Should make this course a lot easier for those that can stay out of the thick rough.

Only player that truly hurt me today was Leishman. My only ray of hope is looking at his 2014 tourney with all 4 rounds under 70. Maybe he can finish like that.

Lol at trying to predict the open better than this tourney with a historical who’s who of champions such as

    Ben Curtis
    Todd Hamilton
    Stewart cink
Louis oost before anyone knew who he was
    Old man Darren Clarke

And this is just in like the last 12 years.
