What is the obvious strategy to win this tournament? Stars & Stars right?

  • kdsdawg

your tournament heading states Justin Thomas won but the google doc has it as DJ and JT not even in the field..
as I look it over closer I assume the google doc isn’t finished as it is showing less than 20 in the field last year…and the same for the other years

This is kind of a mixed bag as the WGC tournament changed locations and the old event here at this course doesn’t exist anymore.

This course is now being used for a WGC event replacing the WGC-Bridgestone which JT won last year.

There used to be a Fed Ex St Jude Classic here at this course which DJ won last year – the Google Sheet is showing the Course History with DJ winning while the header is showing JT winning the WGC event last year at -15.

The Google sheet gives you the applicable info you’ll want for Course History and Recent Form but if you want past WGC history at this time of year, you’ll have to go and google the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational

Lots of buzz here in Memphis re this event, Commercial Appeal calling it the biggest sporting event in Memphis history, several feature articles each day, including Sunday headline article. Weather will cooperate, cooling off into the 80’s, should be a fun time in Bluff City. Now all I have to do is sort thru it all for my single bullet.

    Avoid the WD.

Really interested to see how the sites price Wolff

Narrow fairways and difficult greens to hit. Many of this guys don’t really have much course history as it hasn’t drawn many big names in the past (used to be the week right before the US Open). Daniel Berger is the course horse (won in 2016 and 2017), but isn’t in the field. Snedeker has some pretty good history here…

Is this no cut this year as well?

Actually strike the “history” part with Snedeker. I somehow was looking at the same year twice. He had a good tournament last year.

what to do with Phil..course history is great, scrolled through the last few years and his recent form coming in wasn’t that good yet he played well at this course. BUT, his recent form was never this bad

Wolff should be middle of the pack (or just under) so he’ll be in mid-7K’s

I saw that last year was no cut in heading. That’s why I asked if this year was same. I’m pretty new to pga and was curious if anyone knows if no cut applies to this year as well. Thanks

    Yes No Cut

All WGC events are a smaller 60-75 person field and are No Cut

Thanks Bif. I look forward to NFL. You are a major contributor and appreciate your insight

For those who were curious (maybe it was just me) – the 6/6 achievement on DK will NOT count this week as the WGC events are no-cut events.
Top 5, etc. achievements will still count this week. A bit of a bummer, but mostly expected.

Damn I was counting on that this week since I can’t seem to do it other weeks though my luck I would probably get a WD and still fail this week:)

Considering my numbers in this achievement are embarrassingly low considering I play every single week… this disappoints me

Guaranteed 4 rounds from Phil….what’s that 20+ bogeys with how he’s playing?? Count me in.

    How far along are you?
It depends how many LU’s/entries you’re playing each week too.
As an example, let’s say I play 20 Dime Time entries and you play a single $44 or a few $15 entries… you’re playing much more money than I am, but if I go 6/6 in those 20 LU’s, it counts towards it just as much.

    I have 70 – 70! – on the entire season. 130 away from achievement 7.

Part of the reason for this is I do a heavy risk/reward. In the last 3 weeks, 2 weeks I went 100% of one guy and they MC, so that’s 0 6/6. The third was last week’s Carnage Week where I went 100% Rahm but punts like Oliver Wilson didn’t pan out and I ended up with 1/40 6/6. 1 6/6 in 3 weeks. Not great.

What’s funny is that for the alternate event last week I threw a lineup in there as an afterthought just to keep fresh. Whadaya know… a 6/6… LOL
