First time playing a no cut event. Any trends for these types of things? Seems like most people aren’t really into playing these DFS wise. This board is relatively dead.

  • MGoHarbaugh

Haven’t played a no cut event since the 2018 tournament of champions, where I was winning the $5 DTG going into Sunday for $50k, and ended up finishing like 500th.

That’s the big thing with no cut events. Ground can be made up or lost very quickly.

I’ll be targeting low-owned, volatile birdie makers this week.

I recall doing well in a no-cut event, so I’m in this week. But like last week, keeping my total entry fees low until I start getting better results. Cash management and such as.

I took down the no cut event in Mexico when Stenson dropped with Montezuma’s revenge and Tommy Fleetwood was 3% owned at 6700. Still not a fan of the format would rather have cut in play.

Still 24 spots left in the $1 Happy Meal
    126/150 spots filled

Curious if anyone here will play the 2.1 million tourney on DK. $7500 entry fee, 300 cap, pays top 55. 3 out of every 4 entries will lose. Too rich for my blood.

Playing the qualifiers but don’t really wanna pony up the $7k

Id more slightly more inclined if it was single entry

It just ain’t as much fun.
I’d say the only trend is there’s gonna be a winner who’s top top of the board or very close, the WGC winners seem to always be the class of the field. Wiesbergers not winning

  • RudyPujols

Anybody willing to dabble with Sergio and those sexy ball striking stats? I want to, but I am leery of Sergio Par-cia just ruining any lineup with his mundane BOB%. You need at least one villain in your lineup and/or player pool, though, right?

Also, to what extent are Hatton and Webb popping off the page in the scoring metrics due to playing an inordinate amount of birdie fests, and to what extent is any of that applicable in Memphis? Are guys who get off the tee better at similar price points preferable?

Phil is $6,600…no cut…I’m all in.

Yep. and this event is all about the money so Phil looks good

That’s what I was thinking. I have lineups with people who have actually won tournaments. Without a history of wins or top 5’s they aren’t touching the lineup.

I think my model this week with be:
    50% App
    50% BoB

Just getting started after a rough week. At first glance I would want a core of the Bermuda/Approach guys….Webb/Berger/Horschel and just build from there.

LOL, he is trying a new practice routine though

Rahm paired with Bryson annnnnnddd Rickie. If my memory is correct, Rahm always struggled while being paired with Rickie. Of course he wasn’t world #1 back then either.

I think with no fans around that narrative disappears as Rickie is very popular and Rahm wasn’t back then (he was better known for his temper than his world class golf game with Rickie’s parent/child filled gallery)

FWIW, my data is showing that SGAPP (for golfers leading up to) was not an important factor at this course in the past. I can understand wanting to use it, though.

  • hautalak

The more I think the more I want Brooks/DJ… why hop off now?!!! lol

Same. Perhaps being an event with 80 less golfers and the class of golfer making it difficult for a Hovland or Morikawa to separate like they could in a full field birdie fest.

Here’s something interesting I’m stealing from an article that might help you guys. Key features of the largest GPP winning lineups in the last 6 WGC events – Agg ownership, # of $6k guys, total salary used:

    WGC Mexico 2020 80%/ 1 $6k guy/ $49,900
    WGC-HSBC 2019 83.9% / 3 $6k guys / $49,800
    WGC-St Jude 2019 78.3% / 0 $6k guys / $50,000
    WGC Mexico 2019 67.9% / 1 $6k guy / $50,000
    WGC HSBC 2018 74.3% / 2 $6k guys / $50,000
    WGC Bridgestone 2018 85.2% / 0 $6k guys / $50,000

Chez Reavie at $6700 seems like a steal. Great CH here and only missed one cut in 5 tournaments since restart. Or a trap.

  • bfwl3434

Feels like a perfect spot for Patty Reed to get his yearly win.

Reed will be one of my higher owned this week.

Just telling you in advance so you can still change your lineups before he implodes lol.

Yeah, I was looking at him, cheap on FD too. I temper the CH on some of the non-superstars though because the WGC field is quite a bit stronger than the fields were at the St. Jude Classic. Although he did finish 27 last year. So maybe I should look at him again.

He has putted very well at this course despite not being a great Bermuda splits guy. I had him at Memorial because he really checked out for me and he was rolling until he caught a tough break towards the end of his third round. He was fairways/greens all day long, very conservative. I’ll have some this week but he feels like a trap to me. I like Bubba more around his price range.

  • BrianVT

Since we don’t have to worry about Scheffler missing the cut, maybe he can put up some good points this week?
