I havent cashed since the start of the NBA. I have broke even 5 times but I dont consider that cashing. Last season I did ok but honestly, I forgot my methods of play and this year seems to be way different. I look at vegas, fg% matchups, injuries. The guys I pick have great stats but everytime i pick them, they dont do shit. Im sure Gordon wasnt a good play tonight but he has produced well in his last ten. I pick him and he is sitting at 3. Im sick of researching and researching to only hit maybe 250. My best ever was 355 but even that only broke even lol and I honestly just blindly chose guys and not sure what i did. I know everyone has their sauce and wants to keep that a secret, trust me i get it. Im obviously doing this wrong. Im really not that big on the money, its more of understanding and doing well. It pisses me off that i cant figure it out enough to do well. RG has tons of info but it seems like I am not grasping it correctly. I employ it but fail. Any ways, sorry for the rant but its very frustrating. Any help would be great.

Found the secret. Pick 2 games 4 teams obviously, or 5 teams, 2 slates and a half, and pick your guys. 340 tonight. Lol wow. 7 starters who perform, dvp minutes and such, and one bench if you cant fit all staters in. Bam. Works. First place is exactly what i said. I did a rewind over a weeks worth of games, just about everyone was over 310. Im broke so i didnt get to play for money but it works. Still have to research and select the right guys but only putting time in 4 to 5 teams vs a whole slate, much better.

PS, i wasnt picking high over under games or high pace, just picked 2 slates on who i liked.

I’ve noticed that youdacao, rexgrossman, pianoclub, and my least favorite…..MOKLOVIN are all professional DFS players. MOKLOVIN’s lineups have been in question before by other players and have been investigated by admin.

who should you play in utility position for DK? G? PF? C?

Honestly it seems so simple but a huge part of success is to watch the actual games to garner your own opinions about each teams strengths and weaknesses. I live in Houston but find myself watching a lot of Timberwolves, Bucks and Sixers games for some reason. Game logs, stats and projections can only take you so far. Watching these guys actually play lets you get a good grasp of how the rotations work, which guys are on the court in crunch time, who is playing a bunch of big but empty minutes.

This really helps with choosing your punt plays and more importantly compiling your Do Not Roster list.

I’ve investigated all these players thoroughly, and they all have one thing in common—they’re all incredibly skilled and profitable DFS players. Either that, or some of the consistently luckiest people on planet earth who should immediately go buy lotto tickets because their predisposition to luck is simply undeniable.

What could they be doing—texting Eduardo Rodriguez to make sure he’s gonna deliver on those 8 Ks? These guys just bust their butts doing research and have developed really advanced projection systems that make their research really effective. And they’re really good at spotting low-owned, contrarian leverage plays and going all-in on them.

They’re absolutely guilty of all these things. But your 1-3 lineups in a large-field GPP are still just as viable as their 150, despite all the popular narratives saying otherwise.

Also consider that we only see them crush when they’re at the top of the leaderboard—when their 150 lineups all tank, nobody notices and nobody complains. Does anyone ever check the bottom of the leaderboards? Of course not—on FD you’d have to click to page 5,000 and on DK you actually have to download the contest .csv.

I’ve heard so many of the biggest, most profitable players accused of some kind of ridiculousness, and in reality they’re just smart guys who take DFS really seriously. Shame on them for competing and winning.

^Pretty much. DFS has been figured out to the point that unless you are a pro taking this seriously with your time and bankroll, you can’t reasonably expect to compete with those who do. Depending on the slate, unless you are playing multi-entry, and I’m talking big multi-entry, like 20+ a night, you can’t really sit around and analyze why every night your one LU didn’t do well. It usually boils down to one thing: luck.

From game to game, individual stats are so volatile that you can’t expect to get every play right. How often does a guy in a great position fail to deliver or vice versa? Happens all the time. One night a player could get a bunch of blocks or stats that make him a GPP winning play while the next he falls back to Earth. Tonight was a great example of the dice roll that happens every night when you play DFS. Hayward is announced as having food poisoning after lock, leaves the game early, and everyone who rostered Ingles/Johnson is suddenly in a position to potentially win a GPP.

Having late swap around used to help hedge against stuff like this, but now with it gone so is the last additional edge you had as a player to make additional decisions (i.e. show your skill). DFS was always way more luck than skill, but now its like 90% luck, 10% skill. Now all you can do is make as many LUs as you can afford, pick players in good positions you like, identify the proper value plays and potentially a core you like, and then the last real skill element comes into play: how you diversify your LUs. So if you aren’t playing a bunch of LUs I wouldn’t worry about a particular process or anything. If you are playing a single bullet or a few LUs a night, its basically 99% luck, 1% skill. The pros have gotten so good that the margin for error for everyone else is that much smaller. That combined with the increase in the rake has led to a lot more losing players.

I used to get so frustrated every night trying to figure out what to do better playing small money every night. Why I’d crush it for some nights and others literally manage to make every possible wrong either/or decision. Spending hours to craft one perfect LU and watch it all fall into flames with a late scratch. Now, I still get frustrated, but I also laugh at all the ridiculousness that happens in any given DFS night. You just gotta remember that you are a very, very small fish, in a very, very large shark-infested pond.
