I guess it’s been longer than I thought since I’ve been here. There used to be a bunch of info for free you could check out. I just looked at the starting lineups page and it doesn’t have “projections” listed anymore. I also saw grind, etc you have to pay for too.
What/when happened. What, if anything, is still free. Some of us aren’t professionals and just do this for a little fun. Paying hundreds for that just doesn’t make sense for us. If nothing is left then I know to delete the app, so I don’t forget there is nothing to look at and look again sometime 😄
Just wondering…Thanks for the help 😊

They are getting paid for some of their services. Just like in every business in America. Including probably the one you work for.

  • Deltfish

It’s like $40 a month for all info for all sports. It’s an amazing deal, basically $1 a day

  • mtdurham

If the information you receive saves you from playing ONE player per month that is nicked up, doesn’t match up well against an opponent. etc that ultimately busts it pays for itself.

If it helps you win one GPP every couple of years that you wouldn’t have been able to win without a tip for a particular player then it pays for itself.

The industry is in a bit of trouble as it matures. There comes a time where VC money starts to dry up and companies are expected to produce a profit. These companies like DK and FanDuel cant afford to continue paying exorbitant costs to acquire new players while they remain wildly unprofitable. The market is fairly saturated i mean honestly how many gamblers/sports fans out there at this point aren’t familiar with Draftkings? Rotogrinders generates a substantial sum of money from being an “affiliate” of these sites and producing referrals and such. But this spigot is obviously going to begin to dry up as it becomes harder and harder to identify new players.

The scandals and mismanagement over the years has turned a lot of people off from DFS. These companies only truly exist because they have access to millions of customers info who are gambling degenerates and they hope to convert this into a profitable business as online gambling becomes legal across the nation.

It’s safe to assume that DK, Fanduel, etc are no longer paying anywhere close to the masssive kickbacks they were paying to companies like Rotogrinders a few years ago. Which puts pressure on them to find a buyer who sees value in acquiring all of their customers data. This in turn puts pressure on the company to generate other revenue streams like paid subscriptions until online gambling becomes legalized and this business model becomes long-term viable.

There is still a wealth of free information, podcasts, youtube videos, etc out there.

Personally, i was a member here for a little over a year or so and I thought there was a ton of value to be had as i gained familiarity with the tools, the player pools, and the strategy. After i returned to work full-time i made the decision that i was pretty much done with MME and since I was no longer playing enough volume to justify the subscription i cancelled mine after NBA season ended. I planned to return once NBA came back as i think the tools and insight is well worth the price. However, my new job is just a bit too time consuming to play NBA and coupled with the fact i live in CST instead of EST now there is just no way i can manage MME NBA given that i get home about 20-30 min (at best) prior to lock each night.

I think people should support the site thats given them a lot of free information and enjoyment over the years and wish them well. Rather than criticize a website that does a really good job at what they do for attempting to profit for their efforts.

The freeloading mindset in this country is something else to me. Price is what you pay, value is what you get. If you don’t see the value, don’t pay for it. That’s well within your rights. But complaining about it is just silly.

Honestly, one of the reasons I cancelled was that it always bothered me that so much of the information i used off the site was free and that others were able to access the exact same stuff I was paying for. I wish there wasn’t as much free information widely available as there is now.

The problem really is that the rake in DFS is truly exorbitant. That’s the real problem. The $40/month is a drop in the hat compared to the $15,000/year I was paying in rake.

The rake should be about 5% and frankly it’s absolutely destroying the game. Newcomes lose too fast and even relatively experienced/skilled players can’t even play near break even. That’s a big long-term problem.

When you see guys like Awesemo moving from a full-time player to more of a content provider. That tells you that even he recognizes his long-term success is in jeopardy as a player.

Lol you complain about the supposed “free loading” mind set in the United States then turn right around and complain rake is too high. That was funny. But i guess if YOU deem something unreasonably priced, it’s ok though, right?

I’m not following you. The rake is egregious and it totally crushes everyone playing. Its ultimately bad for the game and its triple the rake in other popular forms of gambling like sports betting and poker.

I’ve been a premium member for years, and as others have said it’s great value. It has certainly helped me become a better player. My only complaint is the CFB pacakege should be part of the premium membership. I have yet to hear a reason as to why it isn’t. That’s my only complaint. Outside of that it’s great.

He certainly is having a time with discerning fact from opinion.

Agreed, rake is killing the game, along with too many contests with top heavy payouts. Seems to me the DFS sites like DK and FD don’t really understand where the bread and butter is and how to keep them interested.

  • Volkster6

Agreed. Have been as well. The NFL NBA and MLB coverage is fantastic. Other sports lacking a bit and some (like soccer) should be included without having to pay another fee but I get why they do it.

  • wolfjb1

Great value. Love the product. Makes no sense that the don’t include CFB

I actually disagree and think it makes way more sense to keep the CFB separate instead of raising the price of premium by $100 per year in order to include it. The main reason being that CFB is only available in select states so it is better off as an add on at this point for the ones who want it. Maybe they should offer a discount for those that are already paying the full premium price as a good compromise.

Ive been here for like 6 years now and I have learned a lot. However RG now has less and less free content. Why would I want to pay $40 a month when Im paying entry fees to Draft Kings plus a 16% rake on something I have a 15% chance of making any money at all?? I do still use RG for some things and they do still have SOME free content, But why not just use the number one player on RGs site free content , 7 days a week??

Paying for a sub on any site I guess there are a couple of factors.
    1. Does it make economic sense? If you’re playing one $1 contest a week and have no interest in moving up in stakes (see #2), it wouldnt make sense to pay $40 a month.
    2. Say you’re playing one $1 contest a week, but want to move up in stakes over time. Well, a $40 investment might make sense as it might pay off in the long term.
    3. You want to make 150 lineups a day. Obviously some type of sub is necessary if you cant program and/or you cant do your own projections.

Personally, I find with NBA the info I need is free so a sub is unnecessary until or if I decide to ever start max entering contests (highly unlikely). For 2020 PGA I am highly considering get a sub somewhere just bc the stats have become so overwhelming and I think the small investment will help my bottom line over the long term.

Its been a few weeks since I played on your site, but when I last did there were too many of the same lineups in cash games. I don’t know the exact number, but it was close to 20 in the 100 man contests. That’s annoying. I know, I know, just make a better lineup than them, but I don’t have to play against that high of a percentage on other sites which I like better. I do like your site and low fee that you charge and I hope you guys do well.

Hmm. I have not seen that. I have seen on Twitter threads of people complaining about a lot of this on the other sites for NFL, however.

  • fightingjohn

DFS has come down to everyone using the optimal lineup thorough optimizers. If you want to be successful, then you have to get on board. All the same lineups are a result of this. You need to find pivots to put yourself over the top. Sucks DFS has gone from using your brain, to an automated tool making a lineup for, but it has.
