I saw some people discussing this on Twitter last week, and it made me think. Historically it would be hard to argue against Mcjester but there a lot of great GPP players in NBA. Who would get your vote?

  • Tpcslj47

So this mcjester cat, is there a way to review his lineups after night’s end? A way to look up individual players anywhere?

    McJester, not close.

You’re not so bad yourself @JeffElJefe , seen you bring down a bunch of big live final qualifiers or at least come home multiple times, I guess that is what happens when you make good contrarian picks

McJester just blows my mind, he can go on a cold streak when his contrarian picks don’t work out but then he happens to win on the most important days like that time there was a 100k slam on Fanduel he just owned it

Thanks, but I remove myself from consideration until I win a live final. And even still, there’s so many more talented players that aren’t even named in this thread yet that I have a lot of respect for. Here are some of my nominees for now, but I’m sure I’ve forgotten some and I’ll think of more.

    Already mentioned DraftCheat.
CSURam88 deserves to be the first guy on the Mt. Rushmore of DFS.
    Wiggins should certainly be mentioned.
    Assani and AEJones are great.
The run that CJ went on this season was pretty sick.
MBomb44 could dominate GPP’s in any sport. <— Dark Horse to win the WFBBC
Saahil of course, even in a single entry tourney.
Hafner (RG tourney player of the year).

What mcjester can do in super large field tournaments is undeniable, his edge in those might be the highest of anyone, but I have trouble saying someone is the best when I wouldn’t want to back his action at face value in a small field gpp with top players. Also, have seen this many many times in poker, where a player who plays completely differently goes on a hot streak, wins a few big tournaments, is considered among the best, but really it comes down to variance.

You realize he won the PBC (essentially a small field GPP) this year and finished 1st, 2nd, AND 3rd two years ago in it, right? He finished 2nd or 3rd in the WFBBC last year. Does anyone have a better record in small field NBA GPP’s the last three years? I’d be surprised… I’m not sure we can call three years of dominance a “hot streak” or “variance”.

Piano Club would be my vote. He is always near the top.

I play mostly Fan Duel, but every time I play DK Piano Club is always in top 5, unreal!

Those are 3 single events, that is not exactly long term. Assani played hockey for 3 days over NBA all star break and won the 1k all 3 days, does that mean he is the best NHL gpp player? It’s never easy to rank people in things like this because you can play every day and have the right process and not finish 1/100 or 1/2000 for long stretches, or you can run super hot in a very small sample. But I tend to trust process over results, and if there was a 50 person 5k buyin gpp with 1 or 2 max entries I would bet on someone from my list to win it against mcjester at 1:1 (for each entry).

But there needs to be a distinction because the small field stuff clearly has very different strategy, and for large field stuff I would probably bet on mcjester 1:1 vs anyone for each entry.

edit: pianoclub is mjclub on FD, but yes, he murders the 300/1k on DK like no other.

Those weren’t the only three GPP’s he did well in… just some pretty notable ones.

Also have to say that FD and DK require very different approaches for GPPs. Someone who is the best GPP player on DK could be nowhere near that on FD and vice versa. DK leads to a lot more unique lineups naturally while FD a player like mcjester can probably gain a huge edge from the 2/2/2/2/1 position setup having huge overlap for his opponents. So not really a surprise that mcjester is always all over FD but plays much less on DK.

Yeah for sure. I’m on the FD side of things as well. Two different beasts!

Fanduel seems way more natural to me, i can usually put together a solid lineup core in like 10 minutes, and then tweak it to my optimal after some research.. DK is much tougher to me in this regard.

Go back to the main forum and click on the “Daily Fantasy Tournament Links” where all of the tournaments are listed every day. You can usually find all of the prominent players in the “Baller” and “Monster” and those tournaments are relatively small enough that it’s easy to locate the players you are looking for. It’s a good way to see how some of the top players construct their teams and hopefully learn from them.

Hahahaha so much this. He’s always in the top 10 right after games start. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him in the top 10 at the end of the night. He must consider himself very unlucky to always be out in the lead only to finish out of the money by nights end.

What happened to this cat anyways? Did he realize he’s not as good as he thought

bingo. NBA not my thing….too much losing after some big wins in NBA (and this is coming from someone who had the max amount of entries into the Playboy Mansion tourney just 3 weeks ago), so waiting it out till MLB season starts – I am the McJester of MLB.

NBA has almost no edge, and i’ve learned it the hard way.

I can’t believe I am hearing this from you, Ryazan. You were my inspiration when I used to fall short, and that’s why I persevere in this thing. On Monday, I finally breakout and won the SuperBaller. I was surprised you were not in there.

On Fanduel, MjClub seems to win the most in tournaments I played in. I was thrilled to finally beat him on Monday.

You here a lot of times people claim someone is only good because they mass enter the gpp’s.

So can anyone name well known players that they think are losing players? Guys that we may know from seeing at the top of gpp’s, but just miss so many nights they are not profitable?
