I’ve enjoyed subscribing to rotogrinders for some time, and also subscribe to XM because commercial radio is a wasteland.

As a fantasy player, it’s nice to listen to a fantasy channel at work or sometimes while driving, and I really enjoyed the DFS stuff they put on. Right at roster lock time, an hour a day; for a while there were 2 hours. But now it’s just football. I get it, I love fantasy football, I play in a number of season long leagues. But wall to wall, hour to hour, and it stinks. “Jim from Atlanta what’s up?” “Um, OK, I’ve got either Julio or Dez in the back of round 1, 12 team PPR, what do you guys think?” AHHH! Enough already. The season isn’t starting for a month, and seriously this network can’t even give us an hour, a freaking hour a day mixed in between the other 15 or so hours of fantasy football?! And then there’s late December, when we completely ignore NBA and go right into season long baseball when it’s 2 degrees outside. This stinks. It’s like they didn’t get the memo there are a lot of DFS players out there who care about tonight, who don’t care about someone else’s fantasy team, but are curious about pitchers, hitters, weather and baseball, because this is baseball season, and DFS football as that time nears.

So what gives? I want my RotoGrinders back. I subscribe but that’s not much help when you are driving. I just about lost it when I tuned in for RotoGrinders only to get – this will shock you – ANOTHER fantasy football show that was only season long. Pathetic XM! I wrote them but got no reply.

We’d love to continue that show through the end of baseball Paul. I understand where they are coming from, though – NFL is king, and they believe the majority of their traffic wants to hear NFL talk during drive time. We’re slowly making progress as the market grows, though.

We are streaming GrindersLive during that time – You could listen to GrindersLive through headphones on your phone and get commercial free DFS MLB shows during those same hours.

Its just kind of overkill. There should be consistency with a DFS show daily not just as a filler show for when the NFL is in off season. More and more are going to daily and theres a market for it. Thanks for letting me know about the show and Ill try it on the phone, but I still think its lame they cant devote an hour out of their schedule to DFS. They need to see the landscape is changing and yeah NFL is king but a big chunk of it is daily players.

I’m with the Padre here. I listen to XM because I have drives of anywhere from 2-4 hours one way to each of my stores. From 6AM Eastern on, it’s little more than talk about the top 15 or so players in NFL year long mixed in with a bunch of dart throws and sleeper picks is too much. In early to mid August, it’s absolute overkill and damn near unable to be listened to. As much time as they spend catering to year long seasonal players, it would be great to mix in 1/12 of MLB, PGA, or something…anything really, that isn’t in the throes of starting preseason.

  • TeamTwerk

Couldn’t agree more. The rotogrinders show 3-4 PST should be year round and dedicated to baseball and basketball imo. Very annoying that they would remove the most interesting and useful fantasy show from a fantasy sports radio station.

i agree! how many different spins to we have to hear about fantasy football drafts. We all get that Antonio Brown should be the 1st player off the board, it gets really old. I used to love to listen to the RG MLB show right up until lineup lock, it was great.

I agree that I want more DFS but many hosts across different shows have stated that NFL is king and it drives ratings which pays bills. Much of their audience right now is preparing for their season long drafts so unfortunately, dfs suffers.

Can’t they have the other 23 hours of the day for football and leave that hour of the day before lock 3-4 PST for baseball/basketball?

The best way for the programming to change would be for every DFS player that listens to Sirius XM to voice their thoughts to the channel. The more feedback that is out there, the better.

We do appreciate your support of the show and certainly enjoy doing the show as well. We will be back!

But that drive time is one of the most highly listened hours of the day.

I will say that Rapaport show is awful. Love the guru, John Hansen but that show has to go. Ruining Tuesday nights now.

Jeff Mans touches upon DFS everyday on his show. In fact, before July he did a show with Tommy G at 5PM EST.

Once July hits, they go straight into football prep. It’s unfortunate but it seems to be what they think we want to hear. As STL said, best way to change that is to let our voices be heard.

  • CUTiger81

Totally agree with this post. I would imagine XM’s listener base is comprised of more daily players than they probably realize and it’s nothing but season long football talk all day.

  • lolGTO

God I cringe at their season-long fantasy football content, so I’ve stopped listening.

There’s plenty of NBA and MLB DFS Live content leading up to lock every day so it doesn’t bother me

  • ElSlappo

Agree 100% with most of the posts, I’ve whined about this subject before on these forums.

Is it super expensive to create a sat radio channel? Why not have a ‘NFL Fantasy’ channel AND a ‘Whatever DFS Sport is active’ channel so I can decide if I want to listen to obvious question/answer phone calls about 10 team NFL leagues or worthwhile content about that night’s MLB or NBA slate.

I’m going to send this suggestion in to S/XM, I’m sure they’ve heard it before.

  • bengalhockey

Glad I’m not the only one feeling this way. I don’t need to hear another top 5 list from Jeff Mans. If they took that time out of each show to talk DFS it would be a solid 10-15 each day.

  • sgumike

Good thread…Also already tired of the same old season long draft questions show after show, and it’s only just begun.

I would disagree on this. I feel like the DFS community thinks they are bigger than they really are. Season long fantasy sports is still the overwhelming majority of fantasy sprorts players. And most that listen to SiriusXM are only concerned with winning their home league.

It was about this time last year that the Daily Fantasy sports show appeared on SiriusXM…it’s now gone. Obviously providing season long dynasty trade questions in a 2 QB league with round value questions is more important.

  • depalma13

Starting today everyone needs to call the shows. Say you have a football keeper question and when you get on ask about DFS.

Sirius doesn’t listen when you contact them, the only way to do it is to get on the shows while they are on.

  • padrepaul

It’s just like a record stuck in a groove, over and over and over again with the same content all day long, and the same questions all day long. Then we get to talk IDP if we are lucky, oh boy, defensive players I could care less about. I do love football and defense, but there is the NFL channel to.

I think a lot of the casual fantasy sports players aren’t aware or don’t listen to the network. I really think they are missing the boat leaving the dock of the bay here. It’s a changing landscape; more and more are playing DFS because it’s convenient, payouts are right away, it’s one-day, no injury worries, etc. There aren’t the overwhelming ads of last year, but DFS is here to stay, so cover it already. I’m not asking for much – just an hour, and if you cant give me drive time, put it on earlier and I’ll make changes as they happen, though 5 CST is best for roster locks. The coverage is just so much you reach a saturation point where it’s bland, the same old stuff, and pure overkill. How many times do I have to hear don’t draft a QB early in your league, how many times to I have to hear about Coleman and Freeman in a time share, enough already! Tell me about Adam Wainwright tonight vs. Cole Hammels. Tell me is this a good Coors fade night or not. Just one stinking hour, please. XM Fantasy is the VHS recorder, get into 2016 guys. I love fantasy football and play in multiple leagues, but FanDuel and DK are here to stay and it’s a growing market.

Miss the rotogrinders show, wish it was 5-7 year round …could do without Jeff mans screaming at me through my radio

  • cdenny99

Good rant. I remember after the Super Bowl last year, I was looking forward to more NBA DFS talk. And what did we get? Mock drafts for next year’s NFL season long. UGH

  • btsgmdad

A thought, maybe a suggestion. Have you guys approached SiriusXM about a DFS channel of its own? I wouldn’t expect you all to provide all the content but between yourselves and some of the other DFS sites out there, I would think you could fill up a channel like this so those of us who love DFS wouldn’t be out in the cold 4 months out of the year. Maybe I’m talking crazy though lol.

Why exactly is Michael Rapaport on anyway. I tried listening to the show he was on the other day while I was mowing the lawn. He is not funny, never has been funny and is not even a decent color man for The Guru. He knows very little about fantasy football that I can tell and it was a completely pointless show. That hour used to be when I could listen to Dan and the RG team. It takes me 4 hours to cut my yard and I can’t tolerate non-stop ramblings about how great someone did last year in the celebrity league. As well as, show after show doing exactly what padre talked about, “So, first time caller here, I’m not sure which Kicker to take in the first round of my draft, PLEASE HELP ME!”

Yeah, Mans has decent insights but you can only handle so much of the whining before you contemplate putting your vehicle in the ditch.

I would also like to see some sort of DFS Golf show on there. It can be one hour but I think it’s getting popular enough that they would get a decent audience for an hour show.

Cal, any plans for an audio only version of GrindersLive? I would like to stream it on my commute, but video destroys my data usage. Thanks!
