This contest at Fanduel had over 50% rake. Clearly a mistake I will assume. It filled.

Edit – It has been corrected. Previously 1st and 2nd were getting $300 each and 3rd and 4th getting $200 each.

I would encourage everyone to download and run the rake Chromo extensions that have been generously coded for the industry. It is how I caught this.

This thread walks you through it.

I’m embarrassed if I’m overlooking something but what am I missing?

    22 entrants at $100 each

    $2000 paid out

    How is it 50% rake?

I’d really like to see a Fanduel rep comment on this.

It was an error. We had a similar problem about a week ago and didn’t catch it till after the contest ran. In that instance, we simply paid all entrants back part of their entry fee, so that they ended up paying the correct amount for the size of the prize pool that had been awarded.

How does this happen in an age of technical controls, unless things are manually being created?

Wrong. Errors can happen, but not the same ones all the time.

And it’s curious how the errors never seem go the other way and take LESS rake. I’m not making an accusation, but it certainly shows where priorities lie

Is this the kind of error you guys are catching on your end, or is it only when it’s pointed out?

I don’t understand how these values aren’t validated when the contest is created? The more I hear the more I think Fanduel does everything manually.

Found another similar problem. Seems like the rake in the Grand Slam is consistently 13%. Please look into this Zoobird.

There was a 50/50 GPP on FD last football season that incorrectly paid out 400$ for a 100$ entry fee instead of 200$. So it does happen both ways. Since they are continually changing the size of tournaments there is probably some human interaction along the way on the controls for the system.

I worked for a sports betting website and this type of stuff isn’t necessarily common but it does happen.

It happens. Ultimately, with all the new money coming in websites have to uphold the highest quality handling all that money. Human error is a real possibility but I think DFS sites can look back on poker sites and learn from it. I feel like our money is in good hands
