Rotogrinders has decided to provide Yahoo content and Brit Devine provides the expert picks I have never seen Brit in cash games or GPPs over there. Yahoo is a unique site with a different scoring, salary structure if you don’t play on the site you really cannot be an expert at the site. Additionally, there are at least 10-20 RG contributors and talent that play over there regularly and do well, why are they not writing the article?

I know you like to take shots at RG any chance you can, so I’ll make this brief.

Maybe you are mad I’ve gotten the best of you when you take my H2H’s everyday on FD? I still don’t understand why you do this but it’s very welcome on my end. Don’t think as a professional player I don’t notice these things.

While I do play on Yahoo some, I certainly don’t play there every night, I do enjoy the big Friday GPP they tend to run that overlays. however I do spend plenty of time on my Yahoo article when it’s my turn to write it on Tuesdays and Fridays.

If you don’t think I tailor all my articles to the very unique scoring systems or roster constructions on Yahoo you would be severely mistaken. I’ve had multiple people throughout the season both in RG chat during a show or in private say “Hey Brit, nice job on the Yahoo article today”.

if you ever want to chat Seth, feel free to send me a message here. No hard feelings here on my end and would love to actually have a conversation with you to better understand the trolling you tend to show towards myself and others here at RG.

I bet you won’t take his H2H’s everyday on Yahoo!

If you spend so much time researching, why not click register a few times and print some money? Do you just not have the bankroll to spread it around to one more site? Are you only profitable there if there’s overlay?

Seth admitted to trolling me in this very thread. I understand that trolling is what comes with the gig as a dfs “tout”, and that everyone has their own opinions on what content is worth money or not. I take pride in my articles/research/play and when you get attacked on your work of course I’m going to respond to it. Should I have left out the H2H part on Seth, Yes I can agree to and should have left that out and taken the high road there.

I posted above for Seth to reach out to me personally at anytime if he wants to discuss any personal issues or thoughts. That offer still stands.

I don’t have any problem with Seth bringing up the issue, he’s probably right if I am writing for the day on Yahoo, I should probably invest some money on Yahoo for the day which I will do for the most part moving forward and did yesterday.

I can assure I spend more than adequate time researching before any article is submitted and have a long list of positive feedback in the coaching profile spanning well over a year if anyone would like some personal references from others on my work and research habits.

If Seth or anyone else wants to talk, please feel free to DM me on here.

This is a much better response IMO, and has much better optics. I really could care less if the person writing an article plays on the day as long as the research supports the article.

I don’t doubt you do the required work and spend time playing on Yahoo, just not as much as other sites. I also don’t doubt your credibility and testimonials. My only complaint was the response.

Thanks for offering a positive reply this time.

For anyone who truly has a problem with Brit or even agrees with him, he has offered to discuss it with you via private message. Unless you are grandstanding on a forum (is that even a thing?), hit him up privately and you’ll be able to resolve it.

Tbh I’m legit surprised that RG is okay with its employees publicly putting down paying subs and making fun of them for beating them in H2H, no matter the context. if this is the new norm here, then this site has fallen a long way from being the nice community where I learned DFS.

Agree. And Jakz runs in with some glib one-liner, then bolts from the conversation. Sometimes opportunities for real discussion get lost here, and that’s sad. I guess we can’t expect leadership from all the RG analysts. Guess what, I have no idea about the history between Brit and this guy… and I don’t care. The guy made a fair, debatable point and Brit drove the discussion into the gutter. Now Brit gives a grudging half-apology, and still looks bad. RG guys should be held to a higher standard on this site.

FWIW I have no issues with Brit and he didn’t need to apologize. Honestly I thought Crains troll comment is the one that bothered me. A little trash talk from Brit is fine, and if Brit plays there more that would be good

As someone who has brought up complaints in this forum in the past, I am compelled to defend Brit so I will say this:

The ideal way to give advice, imo, is to NOT have skin in the game so there is no appearance of conflict of interest. It would be one thing if Brit wasn’t playing Yahoo because of constant failures and losing $$ so is simply sitting out.

However, it seems that he has his process, like many of us do, and prefers to personally play on other sites. Since the reason isn’t because of lack of skill but more preference, this actually creates a greater incentive to use his products versus other RG experts who are competing against you in same slates.

The fact this type of thinking above was somehow applied seems to be a far too negative approach to what you as a consumer would want. The best thing to do is see if Brit’s analysis has any decent track record and determine if it’s useful for overall Yahoo gameplay.

But to me, I actually would prefer if more RG experts gave advice on slates that they have zero material exposure to. It allows them to freely give their favorite plays without sacrificing personal gain.

As for the “little trash talk from Brit”….I am pretty sure you have to first confirm that he is viewing it the same way you are (as good ol’ fashion smack talk). I got the impression he felt attacked and would prefer not to be called out on a public forum based on a completely subjective manner.

Why not keep it public? It is a good way to see the actual character of people employed here. We’ve already learned that Brit can’t take a hit. Crain just likes to pile on and the hall monitor doesn’t know what an opinion is

^THIS!!! It is not OK in any industry to talk down to a paying customer who asks a completely legitimate question. RG should be embarrassed by the post Brit put up.

A far better and respectable response would be “You’re correct, I don’t have a ton of action on Yahoo. However, I do play enough and put in the research in order to write a quality article each morning. Thank you for reading and should you have any questions regarding the article, feel free to contact me directly.”

Instead Brit bashes the guy and just says he’s a pro. Who really cares if you consider yourself a pro, that doesn’t validate the response. In fact, the response completely validates the concern

I second this. There’s a reason many RG guys are thought of in a negative light in the broader DFS Community. This stuff happens constantly and is backed up by the “good ol’ boys” network.

And there’s a lot of opinions on Brit out there (some warranted, I guess, some not) in regards to how an “expert” or “pro” can play such a limited volume and consider himself in such a regard. Not saying I agree or disagree with this sentiment (or the one above), but it exists in a popular fashion, and the response to the OP does nothing to help the optics.

  • jstevens2k11

All of this is just opinion. If the OP or Brit could provide any evidence if his articles are providing, or not providing, valuable content than this conversation will just go in circles until is buried by other new threads.

I dont sub to any Yahoo content so I have no idea the format….but if someone said “in the last week Brit provided X picks, and barely any of them hit value”…than yeah, its probably worth noting the OP’s original statement. If someone said “in the last week he provided the correct lineup structure for cash games X number of days”, than yeah, its doesnt matter. Or whichever angle you want to take..

No substance, all opinion, welcome to an internet forum everyone!
