This is my first year at DFS and have been playing Fanduel only since Week 1, but now am noticing that their highest price has slowly been dropping for first place (like I have a chance anyway..lol). This week it is 500K (for a $25 entry) where Draftkings is still giving $1M to first place. Is this normal or a result of the recent ‘insider trading’ and some states pulling out?

Sites are adjusting based on the number of entrants. FD and DK dont want to cover tournaments that arent filled.

DK is paying $1 million to first place because that’s the name of their tournament (Millionaire Maker). It is structured differently than their other tournaments and is very top-heavy with the prizes.

Also, with legislation banning dfs in some states, the number of entries are going down. It’s hard to give the same prizes with 70-75% of the entries as earlier in the year.

Because of overlay, in the previous week, FD sent out an email saying if you enter your get a refund, which is basically losing money on their part

where exactly did you get the facts and figures that DFS sites are down 25-30% of entries based on b4 the STORM of crap hit?

  • brahma21

The contests are posted at the beginning of the week and if mid-week something happens like Florida or another large state or multiple states suddenly banned DFS like Nevada did, there could be massive overlay. They’re limiting their risk on their larger GPPs which is a smart move. Also as Yoshi mentioned, last week they were basically giving away free entries to fill it.

I think he is referencing the particular contests are down 25-30% of the entries…heck Yahoo is down from $1M for their big GPP to $600k for this upcoming weekend.

Payout structure at 500K is WAY better than if it was at $1M. I’m happy about the change.

  • BigDYo

Thanks for all replies – unlike y’all I can only play a few games each week and trying to see where to best spend my limited $- between the sites and the # of contests, it’s hard to see what will give me the best odds. I can tell you I am much smarter then 6 weeks ago when I first started – I may actually make a few dollars this week for the first time.

The ‘Sunday Million’ name of the tournament also refers to the prize pool; not the first prize. This began in Week 1 of last season with the inaugural Sunday Million (with a 1 Million dollar prize pool) and it has grown since then. Previous seasons, it was just called the ‘Sunday Bomb’.

Agreed. The 1M payout is way too top heavy

Can someone link to the FD Milly Maker? That link wasn’t in the Sunday link thread. Thanks

I miss the Sunday Bomb and the min cash being $75(3x entry.) Those were the days
