After reading the threads on here it seems MLB is the most frustrating and least rewarding sport for DFS, and I would agree

I am up a bit for the season, but in the time I have spent researching and entering tourneys I literally could have walked around a Wal Mart parking lot and found more money

I think I’ll pass next season. How about you guys? Enjoying the MLB grind or has it gotten old?

I’ve noticed that it’s actually a lot better with turbo slates when there are 5-7 games. Helps tone down the variance a tad and stacking isn’t absolutely necessarily for gpps

Stacking to some degree is always necessary, at least in GPPs, whether it’s 2-player mini stacks or full 1-6, but it becomes even more necessary on smaller slates where one game producing more runs than all the rest can really skew the results. Intuitively, variance should be greater on smaller slates, as there would be a more clustered distribution of outcomes. It spreads out on larger slates.

Yep, you’re a small winning player. You should definitely quit next year.

    Scored 160 points in a 42 man 27$ contest…
Top 8 cashed… I was 11th… Ya id say mlb is tough lol!

  • mski9

Can’t say I’m not going to do it, may just do it casually a couple times a week instead of a full grind like NBA and NHL

  • dpadilla

I think I’ll play until around this time again next year. I was just starting to get it together, now the cash line is just way too high for me. On to the next sport!

I think you are referring more to lineup construction. After lock though everything goes out the window in MLB. Don’t get me wrong I still love MLB and even DFS MLB it’s just fucking ridiculous is all. I’ve noticed that it’s actually a lot better with turbo slates when there are 5-7 games. I would rank my personal preference DFS sports: CFB>NBA>CBB>NFL>PGA>MLB>NHL>MMA>Soccer

Don’t get me started on soccer..and nascar doesn’t count. Really think sports like wnba, arena football, tennis, even horse racing would be pretty cool.

I have yet to play them all but I like MMA because it’s basically picking winners under a salary cap. If you get 3/5 with good scores you can min cash, 4/5 you definitely cash, and 5/5 you get a good amount of money. Pretty simple.

That’s why I call MLB bingo and the other sports chess.

The other sports take more skill in my opinion because each player has different playing time and usage rates.

    Or:

    MLB DFS = art
    NBA DFS = science

Feel like mlb was way more fun last year since I would have a real good sweat at least every other week.

Lately it has been: Dong. “Don’t have that guy. Dong. “Don’t have that guy either”. Dong “sigh, don’t have that guy”. Dong. “Alright wtf, seriously?!”

Hour after lock see a team already at 45 FDP in the Grand Slam with the perfect team so far, look at my team score of 1.25 and go “well that was fun”.

Feel like the other sports you don’t have to be PERFECT and still feel like you have a fighting chance unless you have a last minute scratch or something.

wow odds u said it perfectly. at least I know I’m not the only 1

The perfect possible lineup seems to usually be 20+ points higher than the winning lineups for GPPs on fd

I’m glad this thread was made as I am considering not bothering with MLB next year as well. It’s just too frustrating to figure out and the numbers don’t lie when the bankroll tracker shows it’s my least profitable sport. Too much luck involved in this sport. I can figure out NBA and NFL much more easier. My goal is to get my bankroll high again and just don’t play MLB next season.

I find baseball to be the hardest by far. Pretty much lost all of my NBA profits on MLB this year.

Did very well all season up until a month ago. Was finally ready to increase my volume but I’ve been getting crushed since early July. Overall it has not been worth the time and effort for me.

That’s been my experience as well. I was building my confidence quite well and regularly getting scores in the 60s and then July hit and I haven’t had a good night since. Tonight is another slap in the face where I can’t even win a 50/50 thanks to 80% of the Pirates being 100% awful. There is no safety, no match proof players with MLB. It’s slow, boring, and the only sport where your score can go backwards.

  • TeamTwerk

This is my first year playing mlb and have enjoyed it for the most. It’s been challenging trying to learn such an enormous pool of players with full slates almost every day. I feel like the second year will be a lot easier so I’m sure I’ll play so long as I don’t get clobbered too hard.

  • Mbrodhead

Well now here is the question.. where is all the money going? Newbies who are getting lucky and beating the population who are building better lineups but are somewhat unlucky, or is it the sharks taking it all?

According to most people, the rake is the reason they are not profitable. My opinion is that the “sharks” eat up all the newb money. Then they take that money and dump it into qualifiers trying to “build their brand.” They spend like $70,000 to win a $50,000 ticket to the WFBC or FBWC and then someone wins $1M and we talk about how great that person is. The person who wins the $1M walks away a huge winner for the year while everyone else is a slight loser.

    “build their brand.”

LOL. was just talking about this silly saying the other day. Most cringeworthy/nauseating phrase ever.

But, it’s good for the industry.

  • BroncosNation5716

My personal favorite situation in MLB is when you have the lineup, it’s doing really well, you even have the hitter that is low % owned, AND he has the chance to jump your entry into a top position of the GPP you are in because in the top of the 9th he will be batting 3rd!…

…and the Manager pinch hits someone else…that’s just the best!

  • FrancisBooth

I always say I won’t play MLB again and then I end up right back in the mix. So this time I am going to simply say I will only play three or four days a week next year. Definitely no more Sundays. Getting up before 10 am sucks.
