Any chance we get contests on DK for the WBC? Seems like a slim chance since they have never done spring training games but we did get Olympic golf and basketball contests as well as the fact that they run preseason NBA and NFL contests. Can’t wait for baseball to be back!

Despite how great a job Seth did here, any game where Sam Fuld is the most expensive OFer and you have to give serious consideration to rostering Ike Davis might be one I should have second thoughts about playing.

Anyone have any insight on outfielders? Have Profar, Aoki and Fuld. I’d like to figure out two under the radar guys to go with Profar though.

Where do you guys think the biggest edge will come from? I’m just about ready to abandon NBA for this haha

Using the starting pitchers that Seth posted, the most expensive lineup goes $200 over the salary cap. So, basically salary is irrelevant. I think everyone will gravitate towards the most expensive options (NED stack should be the chalk), which means there will be an edge in uncovering some lower priced gems, especially among the non-MLB players. I just started researching, but my favorite play so far is Yoshitomo Tsutsugo (OF for Japan) – 44 HRs and a 1.11 OPS in 133 games in the Japanese league last season and priced at just $3900.

Also, it seems DK just listed every batter they didn’t know as right-handed, so it may be useful to verify the actual handedness of the batter.

Pitchers are not allowed to throw more than 65 pitches in 1st round games. This greatly reduces the likelihood of a starting pitcher obtaining the win. I would try to attack strikeouts over wins for pitchers.

Care to share where you found that lineup?

I saw at least one box score from the last WBC where a starter got the win even though he went less than 5. I’m guessing that the rules are relaxed for getting the W, a la the All Star Game.

Here’s some recent numbers for tonight’s probable starters. I’m no expert on how the different leagues compare, but it seems like Ishikawa is the best of the bunch, while van den Hurk has the most SO upside.
