Any chance we get contests on DK for the WBC? Seems like a slim chance since they have never done spring training games but we did get Olympic golf and basketball contests as well as the fact that they run preseason NBA and NFL contests. Can’t wait for baseball to be back!

I think I’m playing Stroman also he has a pretty good history against most of DR lineup

  • harrytruman3

Ugh, sounds like Mexico/PR may get tons of play, since I’m guessing 80% of people playing read this. Tempted to pivot back to US…

  • infinite420

i have 4300 left the perfect lineup and i dont want to switch off anyone else so i have to take adam jones instead of yelich.

  • mjsimpson24

Against Volquez a better lineup, one specifically for offense would look something like this:

    Yelich
    Murphy
    Goldy
    Arenado
    Stanton
    Posey
    Jones/Cutch
    Crawford

That’s just from people here who know what they’re doing. Majority of people will still take DR/USA guys because they’re recognizable.

The reason why I asked about how long it took for you guys to realize about the altitude in Mexico is because I had a feeling that I was ahead of the pack on that.

On the first 3 nights of the tournament, the first thing I looked for was park factors. The parks in Tokyo and Seoul didn’t have any distinct features so I just went with Vegas Odds.

But on Thursday, I saw the venues now included Miami and Jalisco. So, before lock the first thing I did was I went researching the park factors for Estadio Charros de Jalisco. I saw the altitude and was like “holy shit”. The dimensions weren’t even adjusted for the altitude like Coors. So to back up my hypothesis that it was a hitter’s park, I looked at the team that plays there, Charros de Jalisco. They play in the Mexican Pacific League which is a Minor League Winter League and I went to their schedule for the 2016-2017 season to see the scores. As you can guess, the scores were pretty up there, even more than Coors field games.

I realized not many people noticed this, as everyone on Thursday was talking about loading up on DR Bats against Canada in Marlins park. I knew then that I had an edge. I used C-Mart and the Cuban pitcher and loaded up on Mexico/Italy bats.

As I was watching the Mexico-Italy game I kept on hearing Gary Thorne- announcer- and his co-commentator repeatedly mention the ball flying and it put a smile on my face knowing I researched that.

At the same time, I wanted them to shut the hell up so people wouldn’t catch on lol. Lo and behold, on Friday everyone in DFS caught on and stacked Venezuela/Puerto Rico so my edge went poof.

I just wish I actually played in some $$$$ games on Thursday instead of only freerolls.

Not sure where the next edge in this tournament is going to come from………

I follow pretty much all international leagues to some degree (and a few guys always get signed to AAA/MLB every year.) It’s basically known among people who know the minors stats that Mexican league offensive stats need to be adjusted way down, and especially for anyone whose home park is the WBC.

Anybody know who’s pitching for Cuba and Isr tonight?

  • xtarheelsx

so whos expected to pitch in the later games?

  • harrytruman3

Marquis for Israel Entenza is listed for Cuba. I thought it was supposed to be Noelvis though? Did that change?

    Marquis and Entenza

  • harrytruman3

Heh, forgot noelvis’s last name was entenza. I got fixated on the whole No Elvis name. Any of the non US later games have lineups yet?

Thanks. I don’t know anything about those pitchers. Do you think either one are decent plays for GPP?

  • harrytruman3

I have Marquis, even though I think there’s a decent risk Weinstein pulls him early to preserve him (and keep the hitters from seeing him more than twice.) Noelvis is a finesse pitcher with average numbers in cuba, which is between a single A and High A level in competition now IMHO. The K rates are low there, so maybe he’s a bit better than that.

They’re both at least respectable enough to be picked for a non-China WBC Roster and selected by their manager to pitch the first game of the round-robin pool. And both are facing a lineup nowhere NEAR as good as US or DR.

I think people tend to forget that just because someone was a shitty major leaguer, doesn’t mean he’s a shitty baseball player when compared to non-major leaguers.

But if you’re asking if either is remotely as good as Stroman or Volquez, the answer is no.

Also HarryTruman’s right in his approximation of how good the Cuban leagues are.

  • TeamTwerk

Thanks for the info. I think I’m going to fade US pitchers for the most part. I could see US limiting innings for MLB stars given their bullpen depth and also this DR lineup looks amazing

  • pdidier86

That was me, lol. Of course, I wasn’t planning on playing him. I had used him as a placeholder and just to forgot to switch him out.

  • harrytruman3

I assume this will be closer to a spring training start. Even in 4 innings, stroman can make value (as sure as whoever he’s tandemed with,) though his ownership is a bit high IMHO (though with Volquez being similar despite being way worse, I’m ok with it.)

  • Thomas21

18% of people played Johnny Cueto in the $4. 10% played Polanco. 5% played Carlos Martinez. 7.8% played Alex Bregman. They are all not playing.

  • harrytruman3

Venditte got Miggy swinging, then switched to pitch lefty vs Car-go, and before throwing a single pitch picked Prado off first base. This was crazy.

  • KindGuy

I’m the freeroll,Villar is 35% and Archer is 12% lol

  • Jcudderlife

    Any Lineups out for Mex/PR?

  • Tristanhoh

Really confused on why Volquez was that chalky. He was a like a fairly easy fade for me.

probably cause most people dont know any of the other pitchers…including me
