Any chance we get contests on DK for the WBC? Seems like a slim chance since they have never done spring training games but we did get Olympic golf and basketball contests as well as the fact that they run preseason NBA and NFL contests. Can’t wait for baseball to be back!

PR lineup is out and is the exact same as one would expect.

Just waiting on US lineup now

    LuckyLuc congrats!!

Thanks!! Definitely wasn’t the lineup that I had thought would win it all, but I’ll take it!

Too bad that Stroman struggled tonight, or else your lineup would have been right up there in the top 5 as well. That first inning just really sucked…

    Congrats.

Although my 4th and 11th beat your 5th and 32nd in the $27, lol.

Seriously you and I should sit down and figure out who has crushed the WBC more, if just for the bragging rights. You’ve been killing it for sure.

I also find it funny that you and I made the same “goof” with Nakata at 1B. We both went to sleep banking on him playing because he had played every game up until that point. Whoops.

Do you think PR or VEN will coach today’s game any differently since it is utterly meaningless for both teams?

My gut says that PR will pitch De Leon as many pitches as they can since he’s not one of the main 2 starters (who they’ll want to save for the semis and finals obviously), and they’d rather not use up any bullpen arms, but at the same time, they have an off-day tomorrow so unless any reliever breaks 50, every bullpen arm would be able to pitch in their semi-final game against the Dutch.

So I could easily see De Leon pitching 3 innings, and then 6 relievers each going an inning to keep their workloads down.

And for Venezuela, I’m guessing they’re yanking the starter very early – at this point, you don’t want to get any pitcher hurt in what’s essentially a meaningless game. Anyone who hasn’t pitched for the team so far will get in the game too.

I’m legitiamtely not sure though. The game is 100% meaningless for both teams. At least if someone gets hurt during a meaningful game, you can understand that – but if Jose Altuve gets hurt in a game that literally means nothing for either country’s chances (PR has already clinched the #1 seed and VEN has already clinched 4th place out of 4 in the bracket), the Astros will be PISSED. If I’m the Astros, I’m calling him up and telling him to come back – the tournament’s over already.

For sure we should, the WBC has been amazing for both of us!

And yes, funny that we both had the same no-start Nakata in our lineup that night. I suspect that we have a similar way of going through and creating our lineups, which is how we both ended up on Nakata.

This is what I’m trying to figure out right now.

I believe De Leon is the 2nd best pitcher on the slate behind Duffy. My issue is I think the regardless of PR’s plans, the public will end up on Duffy and Santana as their main two pitchers.

I don’t think that PR would want to pitch De Leon past 50. Even if he is a starter, he’d be useful to have out of the bullpen in the finals if they wanted to. To pitch him past 50 in a meaningless game doesn’t seem that useful, unless they are low on reliever arms.

Venezuela I have absolutely no clue. Martin Perez is not good, but I think he’ll pitch some moderate pitch count like 50 or so, assuming he doesn’t get lit up. He’ll have very low ownership so may be worth a flier or two in a couple lineups..

The betting lines have PR as less of a favourite than I thought they would be, so I’m trying to interpret what (if anything) that means for pitching. My instinct is that that means that PR will just go 1 inning pitching with a bunch of guys and rest some starters, and Venezuela will play more normal.

Venezuela has enough injuries in their lineup that I’m not sure how much flexibility they even have to bench guys like Altuve.

I think I’ll be underweight on De Leon just in case he gets pulled early, but he could easily be a top 2 starter on the slate if he gets 3 innings 3 K and 1 HA or something like that along with the W.

I think that there is lots of value in bats from that game though… once we can figure out who is actually playing. Guys like Solarte etc. should finally get a start I think

And hopefully lead to more dead lineups than normal.

Yeh you guys have been killing it. Last night was my first good night. Everything you guys have been taking about in this upcoming slate is spot on. I think I’m just gonna load up on the game tomorrow and hope for the best. I can’t see today’s game being more than a normal spring training game. Nobody will probably play a full game. So I’m taking that into account. But I will look at lineups when they come out and see if something interests me. Good luck guys

So what’s the situation like for the USA/DR game? Winner moves on?

  • Jaws1002

Yeh I meant today my bad. Yes winner moves on loser goes home.

  • Thomas21

I think the righties on Venezuela will go super low owned today but they’re in great spots considering De Leon doesn’t have an out pitch against righties which shows in his splits from his very very short time in the MLB last year. He gave up 4 HRs in 7 IP to righties last year.

Only righty on this Venezuelan side worth rostering is Prado in all honesty, and even he’s hurt..

  • jgadharf

That VEN lineup cannot be right – Prado is supposed be getting an MRI in Miami today.

Lineups are out and they are pretty much playing it like a spring training game.

Altuve is in, not Prado. The lineup dude messed it up!

  • Thomas21

My point was Escobar, Perez, Chirinos, and Prado all have good chances to put up points against De Leon. My favorite is Chirinos. He has the power to take advantage of De Leon fly ball tendencies and weakness to righties.

  • mood77

can you post the PR lineup too? I can’t find it anywhere….thanks guys

  • Thomas21

    PR Lineup:
    1. LF Pagan

    4. DH Vargas
    5. 2B T.J. Rivera
    6. RF Aviles
    7. 1B Rene Rivera
    8. C Perez
    9. CF Fuentes

    Where are these lineups?

  • Draftdreamsbig

Duffy and Perez locks to pitch tonight? I don’t know how to find who pitches for the WBC.
