Any chance we get contests on DK for the WBC? Seems like a slim chance since they have never done spring training games but we did get Olympic golf and basketball contests as well as the fact that they run preseason NBA and NFL contests. Can’t wait for baseball to be back!

This is what I’m trying to figure out right now.

I believe De Leon is the 2nd best pitcher on the slate behind Duffy. My issue is I think the regardless of PR’s plans, the public will end up on Duffy and Santana as their main two pitchers.

I don’t think that PR would want to pitch De Leon past 50. Even if he is a starter, he’d be useful to have out of the bullpen in the finals if they wanted to. To pitch him past 50 in a meaningless game doesn’t seem that useful, unless they are low on reliever arms.

Venezuela I have absolutely no clue. Martin Perez is not good, but I think he’ll pitch some moderate pitch count like 50 or so, assuming he doesn’t get lit up. He’ll have very low ownership so may be worth a flier or two in a couple lineups..

The betting lines have PR as less of a favourite than I thought they would be, so I’m trying to interpret what (if anything) that means for pitching. My instinct is that that means that PR will just go 1 inning pitching with a bunch of guys and rest some starters, and Venezuela will play more normal.

Venezuela has enough injuries in their lineup that I’m not sure how much flexibility they even have to bench guys like Altuve.

I think I’ll be underweight on De Leon just in case he gets pulled early, but he could easily be a top 2 starter on the slate if he gets 3 innings 3 K and 1 HA or something like that along with the W.

I think that there is lots of value in bats from that game though… once we can figure out who is actually playing. Guys like Solarte etc. should finally get a start I think

Yeah. I basically made the same conclusion. De Leon is still solid, but there’s enough chance they yank him by the 3rd and go relievers for 1 inning a piece. But if he can get the 4th inning or so, should be fine.

There are some nice values in the lineups. Should be a fun slate.

So what’s the situation like for the USA/DR game? Winner moves on?

Correct. Winner is the 2 seed from the bracket, will play Japan.

PR is locked into playing Netherlands on Monday.

And there’s the quick hook on Martin Perez

  • cinthree

I hope that 2.2 IP, 5K is enough for the win.

  • cinthree

Just checked the rules. He’s in line for the win if PR holds onto the lead.

WBC is just like the all star game. A pitcher could start and go 1/3 inning and still get the win.

Wow LuckyLuc at the top again. Gotta keep in touch with you during baseball season lol. Nice job man.

Took us until the 9th, but Vargas comes through!

I’m coming for him. He needs both pitchers to do well. I’ve got a few bats left.

    Coming for ya!!!

Yeah – I knew he didn’t need 5IP. What I didn’t know was whether it just goes to the guy who leaves with the lead that is never lost, or whether it’s just a pure scorer’s discretion thing.

Turns out it’s kind of both – it’s to the pitcher who left when the team got the lead, unless he gets shelled while not quite giving up the lead. Then you can give it to the next guy.

So basically if a team goes up 8-0, and a WBC pitcher implodes in the 3rd, leaving when it’s 8-5, and then the next guy in keeps it at 8-5 for the next 3 innings, it’ll go to the next guy.

I’ve got 1 pitcher and 4 batters left at 83.6. Should be a good night.

It will be an exciting last game — I actually think my lineup in 2nd right now isn’t the one with the best chance to win. I’m holding out more hope for my lineups in 12th and 14th, however passing you will be the challenge with those ones. That mini-train has the potential to do a lot of damage tonight

No matter what, I think a low scoring game is to my benefit tonight

  • VRod305

Yeah, so I was working the first night of the 2 night slate and forgot to change my line up. Then the second night I again forgot to change it. The weird times kind of got to me down the stretch, so I’m pretty much done. I’m excited for the season. Good luck to everyone on the WBC slates though tonight.

  • LuckyLuc3434

Guy in first place started Posey – wow

  • cinthree

Both my 5 PR / 3 DR lineups and 5 PR / 3 USA lineups (with corresponding pitchers) are well live. Two 5 PR / 3 USA lineups are tied for 2nd right now in the 3, and another one is cashing in the $27, and then a 5 PR / 3 DR lineup is in 2nd in the $27.

Not even sure which side I want more. Just want the specific guys I have – outfielders (Yelich, Jones, Cutch, Cruz, Marte) and Catchers (Lucroy and Wellington). I have a touch of Arenado/Machado as well, but not that much.

Just need to avoid all 1Bs (every stack had Vargas), 2Bs (all stacks had Cano) and SS (all stacks had Correa).

  • cinthree

Only had one of my 12 with Stanton. Also, good lord was that ball hit hard!

  • VRod305

Standing 60 feet 6 from Stanton with a bat in his hand has to be one of the scariest things.

Yeah, I imagine as a pitcher you’re extremely happy that he’s pretty dead-pull (at least when he MASHES). He’s not hitting that many bullets back up the box at you.

If I’m the 3rd baseman I’m wearing two cups if I’m playing the Marlins. He hits the ball so unbelivably hard.

  • LuckyLuc3434

Quite the sweat there in the last inning. Needed Machado to get out there to jump into 2nd in the $27 tourney.

Congrats cinthree on the 4th place in the $4! Had a lot of lineups cash in the $4, but just couldn’t put one together to break into the top 10.

Hoping that we get one more WBC slate for the semi-finals…

Yeah, knew the Duffy win would make it inevitable since you were within 4. Annoying that the best $27 I had was one of my good PR/DR stacks as opposed to one of my good PR/USA stacks (so Duffy win wouldn’t have hurt). I had a PR/USA stack in the $27 but it never threatened to get into the top 5. Dropped me (and the other dude with the same lineup as me) down to tied for 4th.

Had I went with Polanco not Marte (which was another lineup of mine, just was in the $3), would have jumped a few more.

I’m surprised you didn’t have your $27 in the $3 – I assume you’ve been doing similar entry numbers to me – something like 10 in the $3 and 1 or 2 in the $27 – I use the $27 as one of the entries into the $3. But hey, either way clearly works based on how well you’ve done this WBC.

And yes, one more WBC slate would be great. We need this every year – our two ROIs these last two weeks – if this kept up for a year or something, we’d be bigger than Condia and Saahil combined.
