  • Hey folks, today we at Yahoo Sports are proud to be raising our Fantasy game to the next level and giving you the chance to crown a champion every single day — presenting Yahoo Sports Daily Fantasy: one-day and one-week fantasy contests for cash prizes.

Daily Fantasy is designed for you to play with your friends on any device and win real cash prizes, whether you’re a seasoned Yahoo Fantasy player or new to the game. A simplified salary cap, along with real-time sports news and scores from Yahoo’s Fantasy experts, makes setting up your line-up and joining in daily fantasy contests fast and easy.

I wanted to personally invite you all to try out some of our MLB contests beginning today. Entry fees range from free to $500, with options all throughout including $1, $2, $5, $10, $25, $50, $100, and $250.

We’re offering four primary types of contests at launch to give you a variety of ways to compete for prizes:

    • Head-to-Head: One opponent, winner take all.
    • Group: Play against small or large groups of opponents.
    • 50/50: Top half of entrants win.
    • Guaranteed to Run: Will run even if unfilled, often with large prize pools (tomorrow we’re running an MLB contest with $50,000 in prizes!)

We plan to offer all the 4 major US sports including baseball, football, basketball and hockey as their seasons begin and we’ll explore others based on demand.

Daily Fantasy is easy to play within the Yahoo Fantasy app on iPhone or on any device through your browser.

If you already have a Yahoo account you are ready to play Yahoo Daily Fantasy! If you are interested in participating in paid entry contests you can deposit money to your Yahoo Fantasy Wallet using Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, or PayPal. The Fantasy Wallet is shared across all of our Fantasy Sports offerings including pro leagues for added convenience.

So head over to sports.yahoo.com/dailyfantasy to get started! We’re running a totally free to enter MLB contest tomorrow that will pay the winner $1,000.

is there a way to change your display name? i cant figure it out.

also, with accoutns being email accounts, and a lot of people having multiple email accounts. is there multi accounting measures in place? i see theres a 5 entry limit on the tourneys today, but is there something in place that stops people from using multiple accounts they already have with yahoo?

Great freeroll that pays out everyone running tomorrow. I’d get in now as it caps at 5000 entrants. Scoring seems decent, looks like its based somewhat off of how Draftkings does it. It also looks like the payouts are top heavy, but the contests themselves payout nearly 25% as opposed to 18-20% on DK & 15-18% on FD.

I do agree with Brit, Give us custom usernames for daily so we can find people.

Am I the only one disappointed with this product they’re rolling out? Especially when they’ve had all this time to get it right and copy the blueprint of what works and what doesn’t work.

    -Scoring
8 points for a win? So the most luck based stat is also the most important for a pitcher. Come on guys.
Then you allow for 6 man stacks, with a juiced up RBI and Run scoring? How do you think your season long players are gonna feel when they get smacked around by full team stacks at a even higher Clip then on dk? Do you see how people complain about them now on these forums?

-First time deposit bonus? No where to be found. So what incentive would anyone have to play yahoo over dk. Name recognition is all. Certainly helps but even if they start on yahoo, once they find rg and other sites why wouldn’t they leave for dk or fd?

-No recruit system? Again another standard thing left out.

-first names in the lobby? Seriously?

-No Canadians? Well ok, you got that one right…lol but seriously why? I’m sure some misguided legal reason, but again doing something that will obviously limit the player pool isn’t good for anyone.

Sure weak competition and overlay will draw a ton of us over there for the first few weeks, but once that dries up you aren’t giving me much incentive to play. Not saying this will be a failure, but the only reason it won’t is on the user base they already have. Was hoping for ALOT more from a company as big as yahoo.

Very interesting. Just went thru the $2 GPP24 paid out, 12 rake.

    Initial thoughts:

I don’t see an RG sign up and I have no idea if Yahoo even ‘needs’ affiliates. Assuming they don’t, it’s very disappointing to see that rake wasn’t significantly reduced from the standard set by the big two. Many of us here were clamoring for Yahoo to get in the game because we were hoping it would be a combination of FD’s user base and rake/rewards found on smaller sites. It’s early and I hope there’s more than what I’ve seen, but it seems as though Yahoo expects us to play at Yahoo simply because it’s Yahoo. Very disappointing.

Exactly. Mirror copy product. Shitty prizes. No reason to play there.

The scoring is exactly proportional to FD except pitcher’s outs are a tiny bit less and no negatives for hitters. RBI/Runs worth exactly the same as FD, wins the same proportion to Ks for pitchers.

Ladies and Gentlemen… the game has officially crossed the line between “our” thing and just a thing.

I hope the mainstream doesn’t kill DFS.

If it is done wrong, the damage control needed will be huge,,

No deposit bonus, no refer-a-friend, same or higher rake. I don’t see a reason to play here.

DraftKings and FanDuel have NOTHING on yahoo dfs free entry rooms with a payout of $1000 for the first place prize 😳

  • ataggart

Anyone else not able to deposit right now? I just get an error message.

The scoring is the same as FD which is disappointing to me. The main reason I play DK over FD is to avoid having the fluke pitcher win stat determine my fate. Pitcher wins having a high weight (plus hits and bb’s not counting negative) means you can match or come close to a stud pitching performance with a very mediocre pitching performance if that guy gets the win and the stud does not.
