  • Hey folks, today we at Yahoo Sports are proud to be raising our Fantasy game to the next level and giving you the chance to crown a champion every single day — presenting Yahoo Sports Daily Fantasy: one-day and one-week fantasy contests for cash prizes.

Daily Fantasy is designed for you to play with your friends on any device and win real cash prizes, whether you’re a seasoned Yahoo Fantasy player or new to the game. A simplified salary cap, along with real-time sports news and scores from Yahoo’s Fantasy experts, makes setting up your line-up and joining in daily fantasy contests fast and easy.

I wanted to personally invite you all to try out some of our MLB contests beginning today. Entry fees range from free to $500, with options all throughout including $1, $2, $5, $10, $25, $50, $100, and $250.

We’re offering four primary types of contests at launch to give you a variety of ways to compete for prizes:

    • Head-to-Head: One opponent, winner take all.
    • Group: Play against small or large groups of opponents.
    • 50/50: Top half of entrants win.
    • Guaranteed to Run: Will run even if unfilled, often with large prize pools (tomorrow we’re running an MLB contest with $50,000 in prizes!)

We plan to offer all the 4 major US sports including baseball, football, basketball and hockey as their seasons begin and we’ll explore others based on demand.

Daily Fantasy is easy to play within the Yahoo Fantasy app on iPhone or on any device through your browser.

If you already have a Yahoo account you are ready to play Yahoo Daily Fantasy! If you are interested in participating in paid entry contests you can deposit money to your Yahoo Fantasy Wallet using Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, or PayPal. The Fantasy Wallet is shared across all of our Fantasy Sports offerings including pro leagues for added convenience.

So head over to sports.yahoo.com/dailyfantasy to get started! We’re running a totally free to enter MLB contest tomorrow that will pay the winner $1,000.

Please feel free to comment here with any questions, feature suggestions, or other feedback. Additionally, you can check out our Daily Fantasy Help section.

Thanks again for your continued support of Yahoo Sports!

Money sitting til GPPs get higher. I’m ok with then fixing the bugs now so hopefully there is a new place for football. Glad to see new players in the game. I will give them some time to get issues ironed out. Not done with Yahoo after one experience.

-2 for runs do not show up until the end of an inning. He gave up a homer to Adam Jones in the bottom of the 9th, was lifted from how game for Storen, and then got the win. Thus, his 8 point win total was reduced to 6 after the run was subtracted.

    Ah! You’re right. Thanks.

There are now a couple of $10K Gpps for Friday. Also some of the 50/50s now have 100 players. Sweet!

  • sutogame

When are the next free rolls going to be available?

  • Just wanted to drop in again and thank all of you for your play and feedback. As representatives of the more experienced part of the daily fantasy spectrum, your opinions are definitely valued.

The Yahoo Sports team and I are monitoring this thread and elsewhere for things we can adjust, and for those of you on the fence now hopefully we can earn your trust and play in the future.

    Thanks!

  • IALWAYSLOSE

Need to add a “reserve team” feature and also the ability to mass swap lineups.

  • bjk121

Pricing on the pitching (for Friday) is much different than it was in the first week.

As long as you don’t allow scripting and open up to Canada, you’ve chosen the right time to enter the field. DK’s unwillingness to explain themselves on allowing logarithms play fantasy games is killing my interest in them.

I can’t speak for everybody, but as soon as you offer a deposit bonus or player rewards, I’ll give it a try. Till then, you have plenty of competitors that will pay me to play.

  • ObiWanBonogi

Glad to hear Yahoo is listening to the feedback in this thread. I see they added larger field gpps for this Friday, that is nice to see and I will probably redeposit to participate! Hopefully the other concerns raised in this thread are addressed in the future as well.

From what I’ve read this is a “beta test” for Yahoo, that why there was no big revealing of them entering the DFS industry on their release date. Probably just getting players input to improve their product for the NFL season which starts in 2 months. I think that is when they could realistically be criticized for their product if it does not improve.

The feature I’d most like to see would be some way to simultaneously edit all/multiple lineups. Everything else is just a book cover to me. Best of luck to your team.

    a logarithm is a number.

All I can say is they have a lot of room for improvement. Most of the things are pretty minor annoyances but key things a DFS site needs to run well. Import/Export functions that actually work, being able to choose a nickname for christ sakes, and not being forced to use YAHOO’s software or apps to use the DFS platform at Yahoo. Sorry but I am not spamming up my PC or Laptop with Yahoo Messenger so I can be the ghostgardener on YAHOO. It all feels super chintzy right now to me for Yahoo DFS at this point “soft” open or not. It feels like a very incomplete product.

  • noddy

The bigger GPP’s has made me want to play friday. Still many things to improve on but its a start

  • pep4464

Why didn’t they use the great season long stat tracker in the DFS product….I thought that was going to be the best part about the site. I was really looking forward to actually being able to follow along on Yahoo’s stat tracker.

I would hope players who have already deposited money would not be penalized by being excluded from the deposit bonus once that is announced if they choose to re-up…

  • briguy13

If they penalize early adopters by not letting them in on some “new player” bonus, I’m out

  • Anyone figure out how to create the username you want on their DFS site? It looks like it just pulls your first name for a username.

  • bucherpsu08

The prize structure is still bad. You have to finish in the top 1% just to win more than $1.

  • HardCore

some kind of snake draft would be great. I mean its yahoo, thats all i’ve done on yahoo for 10 years why change now.

    +1

Im a sucker for big gpp’s, and I think they are top heavy in general, but can you please flatten the payouts for us.

I’d love to give yahoo dfs a try. I just can’t deposit when ur putting 2k up top and nothing below ($1 for a min cash..)

  • deejones49

Going to have to leave 40 or 50 on the table to get the top lineup.

  • bigticket

cmon what is the deal with the cheap pricing on pitchers now…You had a fun product with pricing that made you look for punts. Now its so ridiculous I can build 10 different All Star lineups within a couple minutes. I was looking for a reason to ditch DK/FD and jump ship to Yahoo. I love the capped entrys but the payout structure is awful and now the player pricing is so soft. Who runs this place?

  • bowens1984

    • 2014 StarStreet MLB Playboy Mansion Finalist

    • RG Season Champion: NBA

Fridays pricing is awful, the drastic drop in pitching prices allows you to roster pretty much the top priced player at every position.
