Does anyone know if they’re doing the Pro Leagues for NBA this year? When do they usually launch?

Yahoo must not like $. Couple days till nhl season and no pro leagues. 3 weeks until nba season and the same. Daniel told me last week they were working on it. Pretty weak response

They’ll open this week. There was a lot of regulatory work we had to get done prior to opening. Good news it’s mostly one-time work that will greatly improve the process moving forward across all sports.

I also was/am bummed out about missing out on NHL PRO leagues, but I will probably at least try to get in a low stakes NHL league after the season starts if they make them available for NHL. I realize it may be hard to find guys for it.

But, sounds like we’ll have them for NBA and that’s good news. NBA is much higher volume than NHL, so it’ll be a mad rush to get the drafts in, but Yahoo always has a great product (and hands down the lowest fees) for the PRO leagues. It’s just one of those “it is what it is” things. Would love to get in a PRO league with a handful of RG guys sometime. That would be a lot of fun I suspect.

id put together a yahoo/espn fantasy bball league for forum members if we get enough interest. i commish 4-5 leagues a year for mlb nba and nfl. id rather not let yahoo take a cut from the prize pool. id run it using leaguesafe of course

interesting tidbit i found on reddit for nba pro leagues on yahoo: So, we have decided to make continuous waivers with FAAB the default setting for player acquisition for free public leagues and pro leagues. edit Private leagues will not have their settings changed.

    Will launch later this week.

Yay!!! I dunno what the plans are for NHL (I know the season is starting in 9 minutes), but if there are PRO leagues for NHL, I will get in.

You make it Yahoo, I’ll throw money at you. :)

FWIW. I would play at least 10k worth of these Yahoo NBA pro leagues if the scoring was simply set to the same Scoring system that Yahoo uses for NBA DFS rather than the tired categories stuff.

It would also create a perfect fusion opportunity for those people who play DFS to play more year long through the Yahoo Pro Leagues and of course the historically more difficult conversion of year long traditional fantasy players to DFS.

Dont really a see a down side to offering this scoring system to the year long and seems like it would be a great opportunity for Yahoo fantasy to carve out a nice.

PRO leagues for NHL and NBA are now up. Not a lot of them, but I got in a hockey and two NBA ones for the amount on want on the days I want so I’m definitely happy about this.

    Just saw your post….

What you could do is create a LEAGUE off the DFS page for NBA and set it for season long (currently there is no NBA DFS contests yet, so you can’t do it until an NBA contest is created). You can decide how many scores you wish to drop. This would essentially create a season long league with DFS scoring. Downside, you’d pretty much be locked into making a DFS NBA lineup every night.

You can set the number of teams you wish to join and the entry fee for it. FWIW, I would happily join your league for pretty much any amount. But, if you do go for it, I would suggest no higher than $109 and probably no more than 10 people so it actually has a chance to fill. I could also probably get a few other guys to get into it as well. If you’re interested.

The PRO leagues are back up. NHL and NBA. Obviously, we’re drafting late for NHL, but not really a lot of choices in the matter and we’re all on even footing so it’s all good in my world. Not many leagues, so I would say get in there quick if you want an NHL PRO draft this year.

What are the payouts/rake? Just says “Join a $100 league and win up to $600!” Well great, it is 1st-$600 2nd $100 and thats it or what?

    For a $100 NBA league (12 teams):

    1st place: $600 (50%)
    2nd place: $360 (30%)
    3rd place: $140 (11 2/3%)

    Total payout: $1100

Yahoo’s cut: $100 (or 8 1/3% rake). Payout structure is identical in all leagues regardless of buy in amount.

i could be mistaken but if it’s a private league then there is no rake, the rake is only for the groups of strangers – which makes perfect sense because they probably realized most leagues were already settling out off site to begin with so no point in fighting city hall

Terms of service say No Florida in Proleagues…yahoo rep??

    Hey guys –

I ended up making an entire long NBA DFS league at Yahoo. That’s right….all 161 main slates. I set it up for 10 people only and sent out invites to a handful of people that I thought might be interested in such an epic contest.

Pretty much the stuff you care about….$20 to enter and top 3 get paid at the end of the year. You get to drop your 20 lowest scores as it’s almost certain everyone will end up missing a slate off and on. It’s a first come first serve operation here. So, if you are a hardcore Yahoo NBA DFS guy, this is your league. Here’s the link and look forward to seeing who has the iron stomach!

Still need 2 more players in the $10, $20, and $50 five team league I set up. They are 6 rounds starting Wednesday October 23rd and run for 6 days straight. Lowest score is dropped.

Don’t see your leagues. The default option when you create a league is private. You have to manually set it to public or no one will ever find them. You’ll need to recreate (or share the link).

They are definitely public. I’ll share link this weekend when I am home on my computer. Thanks.

    You bet, buddy. :)

And the super iron all season, 161 slate monster of a DFS league has 4 seats taken, so 6 more spots left for those who are pondering. Read all about a few posts up from this one and for the link and all that. It’s going to happen!!!
