We all know that when the Boston/Carolina game got pushed back a day, various sites handled it differently.

Yahoo kept it on the slate and pushed the slate back into a second day. There was no announcement over the issue, no popups on the site, nothing was said about it. Yahoo regularly does multi day slates and this didn’t seem to be any different.

The next day comes along, the game starts and the players accrue their points as they normally would.

Then several hours after the game had been recorded and stats accrued for the teams, they decided to wipe them all to zero and labeled them as postponed. Shortly afterwards they closed them out and paid the winners.

I think this is beyond messed up. If you’re going to keep it up and accrue stats where your h2h and gpp scores and payouts are changed, you can’t then after the fact decide you actually don’t want to do that and take it away. Furthermore, had the players been given the PPD label the prior day, people who rostered players in that game could have then

For comparison, see how DK handled it

    vs Yahoo’s non statement…

You can’t let it play and then take it back afterwards for no reason at all. Can we get this fixed?

That’s absolutely horrendous. Better get fixed for the sake of the industry’s integrity. Luckily DK would never allow that to happen.

bumping this, really surprised people don’t seem to mind that Yahoo arbitrarily removed a game from the slate after leaving it up there for two days and letting it play and accumulate points

I’ve been reaching out to Yahoo but have gotten no response

Try messaging Daniel Haight on Twitter. That’s really messed up from Yahoo. Personally I’ve moved most of my action away from Yahoo ever since they got rid of their exclusive 10 entri max and them ignoring blatant collusion from users. Plus, being stuck behind a 50 man train from Bric75 and moklovin is never fun. Hope your issue gets resolved.

I have reached out to him, he’s normally very responsive but these messages have gone unanswered. Whenever I reach out to Yahoo customer support they just assume I’m talking about a fantasy league or something and have no idea what’s going on.

Pretty sketchy move on their part for sure. I don’t play much NHL but I think DK refunded the difference for people that night so that everyone broke even at worst. At the absolute minimum, Yahoo should explain what went down.

As a previous poster mentioned, I have also been playing less and less at Yahoo due to the max entries being raised and the numerous trains as a result. You’re going against the bric75 train even in the quarter. In the past, I was always a proponent of Yahoo and felt they deserved more love than they got. That has slowly changed though and this screw up isn’t a good look either.

Here are images to show how insane it is what happened. I combined 4 screenshots into one file

not sure if that shares but here is the link

1 the email notification of the late slate getting canceled/refunded

2 however, the earlier slates continued and they even showed the Boston was moved to day 2 (multi day slates are super common at yahoo, especially during times of fewer games so this was not out of the ordinary)

    3. game plays on, as you can see the screenshot is taken mid game as players are accumulating points and the standings in the contests have changed as well

    4. several hours after the game they just wiped it to zero despite that they kept the slate open an additional 24 hours just to get that game in

I simply don’t see how this is acceptable, how can they possibly keep the games on the slate, extend the slate to let them play, let them play and accumulate points, and then wipe it hours after the game. I understand scoring errors and such issues are the nature of the beast and a tradeoff for expedited payouts, but there’s absolutely no reason to do this. I think they should play it out with Boston/Carolina stats included or simply refund. One of the main reasons to play at Yahoo is “verizon won’t go busto and will always pay you out”

I’ve recommended Yahoo to countless people and gotten many to sign up to the site, I have a long record of advocating to play there, I just am in shock they’d allow this to transpire and then ignore when people contact customer support.

That is a truly bizarre way to approach the situation; keeping the slate going till morning and then cancelling the game AFTER it plays is ridiculous and makes little sense.
