    TPC Louisiana
Course Par Value: 72 • Course Yardage: 7,341

    2015 Winner – Justin Rose -22
2015 Cut – players needed to be -5 to make it thru to the weekend

Top players this week include: Day, Rose and Fowler

Master architect Pete Dye designed the course, working in conjunction with PGA TOUR players Steve Elkington and Kelly Gibson – a New Orleans native. The breathtaking scenery at TPC Louisiana’s golf course, stretches over 250 acres of wetlands along the Mississippi River delta.

The golf course layout incorporates stately stands of cypress and oak trees – with Dye adding plenty of water hazards and bunkers to make for a highly interesting game. The golf course features over 100 bunkers as well as five ponds, which come into play.

TPC Louisiana boasts a series of short but compelling par-4 holes to balance the longer ones and delivers a great blend of challenge and playability. The signature hole on the golf course is the par-5, 18th hole. Water is in play for the entire right side of the hole.

I am having second thoughts about Morgan Hoffmann for cash. I’m just leaving this here so I can come back and lambaste myself later for playing him. My intention is to reduce action this week but every single week I end up entering a bunch of things at the last minute. It’s a good thing I have a job.

Haven’t seen anyone mention the weather yet. Not that I ever trust the forecast especially after piling up early round players last week just to watch the storm move in about 5 hours early.
Any way, weather looks yucky all day tomorrow with a chance to start clearing up early afternoon. Wouldn’t be surprised to see tomorrow be a total wash.

Wind is the worst friday PM, but like you said with all the storms thursday, who knows who will be playing friday afternoon.

Anyone else just get those weird updates form the PGA Tour app? I got one that said “Zurach Classic of New Orleans Round 1 has been suspended due to inclement weather” and then immediately after that it said “Zurich Classic of New Orleans has resumed play”

hoffman has been cut more times than hes made cuts this year. So i can see why youre hesitant

    So Willcox is playing correct?

  • JimKronlund

Ok I am done with my LU’s. By far the most vanilla spread picks I have done. No real surprises. Like Nick Taylor, faded Hoffman to a degree and really faded Rickety Rickie. I think Hoffman will be emotionally spent and not have the focus and drive needed to go real low for 4 rounds. I liked the more consistent and opportunistic players like CHIII and Goosen types. The player that I feel will falter is Rickie. Remember when you were that age, and after a great holiday you feel you immediately need a holiday to recover. That said I still took Smylie and most of the others that no one will be surprised by. I have my outliers positioned throughout. Just a strategy to hopefully go real low if the whole team nails it.
EDIT: I like the Kim’s but not the Lee’s

No one else with me on Ben taylor? Total throwaway cause I wanted to put day, Berger, Kaufman in a lineup.

You taking CH3 over Tringale then?

Nope – looked at him because of the LSU/local connection but even if he made cut, I didn’t see an scenario where he didn’t finish between 60th and last/MDF. If I’m going to punt at 6K or less, I’d like a little more upside (Top 30-40).

I ended up fading all the LSU/Louisiana guys (except 1 lineup with Toms) as I think Smylie and Loupe will be higher owned.

    Yup $7100

I have CHIII 3 to 1 Tringale. 100 teams CHIII and 33 teams have Tringale. Some on both and some not.
Remember I enter 200 LU’s in Birdie so cash games may think differently. Hell other GPP“S will think differently.
CHIII this year has more birdies, eagles, less bogies earned more points than Tringale. I am pretty sure Tringale will have lower ownership, but as I always say I would rather pick the player with more point probabilities with higher cut made %‘s. So my pick was CHIII obviously.
That is the toughest part in this is that there are no straight answers but good luck.

Anyone has some insight in Fowler that I might have missed? I have a hard time saying he’s in bad form due to 1 MC and 64th 2 weeks before that, and he seems to be fit most of the stats I liked for this week. I get he missed the cut here 2 years in a row but any reason why? Before his 2 MC here he played the 3 years prior and did pretty well, not to mention the caliber golfer was then vs. now. I can’t seem to get it figured out.

  • MrSnuffleupagus

You really cant go wrong with Fowler, rose or Day.

The 64th is misleading as it was the Match Play and only 16/64 advanced to weekend (those winning their group/bracket)

Statistically he is solid – putter had been a little cool since Honda and his sand game has been so-so but GIR and Driving have been among best

Right, I knew that.. let that one slip! Ok so i’m not going crazy thinking fowler is a solid pick.

I guess everyone posting about how they are fading rickie this week is really getting to my head. I’m clearly an emotional better.

My reasoning on fading Fowler was based on having to make a choice. So I added my reasons why. He also made making the teams I wanted almost impossible. I agree with MrSnuffleupagus as well. (if he is real)

Rickie will be lower owned than Day and Rose but still near 20% as they are clearly the top 3 players this week in overall ability. My guess is Day and Rose ownership will be in the high 20’s . I’m guessing 75 percent of lineups will include 1 of those 3 golfers so ownership of 30-26 on Day-Rose and Fowler in 18-20 range wouldn’t surprise me (as a couple percent will stack 2 of them and punt the rest).

  • ninerzfan8

Missed cut by Rickie last year is kind of misleading too. He played well, he tripled 17, a par 3 with water, in 1st round and missed on the number. He shot a bogey free 68 round 2. If he pars that hole he’s -7 going into the weekend, rose was -9 and won.

Also if I remember right last year’s tourney was littered with delays, not sure what that has to do with anything though unless you want to try to glean who plays best in delayed and chopped up rounds.

    Thank you!

That’s the exact type of insight I was hoping for. That alone gave me a lot more confidence in a team that I put together with a f*** it mentality that I really wanted to like.
