Traditional MLB DFS formats aren’t the only way to profit from daily fantasy baseball. MLB PrizePicks is a great fantasy pick’em site where we can take today’s projections versus theirs and combine two or more baseball predictions for sizeable payouts.

In this space, we’ll explore a few PrizePicks plays for the upcoming MLB slate. This article isn’t the be-all, end-all of great plays or a recommendation for a full ticket; it’s simply a starting place for you to explore thinking about the game within the game. Maybe you want to scatter these plays across entries. Maybe there are only two or three you think are worth playing. Daily fantasy pick’em gives us the flexibility to make only the plays in which we think there is value rather than being forced to create a full lineup while competing against the best DFS players in the industry.

PrizePicks is daily fantasy baseball made simple.

All stats cited are since the start of the 2023 season unless otherwise noted.

MLB PrizePicks Predictions for Monday, April 15

Aaron Nola MORE Than 7.5 Strikeouts (DEMON)

Nola has really struggled to strike guys out, but the Rockies are just not good. Their projected lineup has a 27.5% K rate and only a 7.2% BB rate against RHP, while Nola has an 11.6% swinging-strike rate. We know that Nola is better than he’s been. His control has been spotty to start the season, but he only has a 2.28 BB/9 since the start of the 2023 season, so this is an amazing spot for regression toward the mean. His pitch count could be his worst enemy, but this is a great situation for him to be economical, go deep, and compile strikeouts. We have him projected for 7.6 strikeouts, so the juice is free money.

Juan Soto MORE Than 2.5 Total Bases (DEMON)

Chris Bassitt is one of the worst pitchers on the slate against lefties, and Soto is one of the best-hitting lefties in baseball. Bassitt’s allowed a 12.9% barrel rate to lefties, and Soto has a 13.3% rate against RHP. Soto walks a lot, but Bassitt has decent control, and Soto has some of the best lineup protection in baseball. His 63.7% hard-hit rate against RHP should get a lot of action in a decent ballpark. We have him projected for exactly 2.5 total bases, so the DEMON boost is free value.

Ronald Acuna MORE Than 2.5 Total Bases (DEMON)

Acuna faces Spencer Arrighetti, who is clearly not ready for MLB action. Like Soto, Acuna’s 14.8% barrel rate against RHP is projected for exactly 2.5 total bases. What makes Soto the slightly better play is that the Jays bullpen is worse than that of the Astros. Still, Acuna can smash this PrizePicks projection in one swing. With a 9.5 total in this game, 6 plate appearances for the Braves leadoff man on the road isn’t out of the picture.

Bobby Witt MORE Than 2.5 Total Bases (DEMON)

Another coin flip with some DEMON juices here. Witt faces a total nobody today who will be followed by the White Sox bullpen, which is probably the worst in baseball, and this is a great hitting park. On the road, with an implied run total at 4.51 runs — that I think is too low — Witt could get 5 plate appearances against terrible pitchers. We have him projected for 2.4 total bases.

Cal Quantrill and Martin Perez LESS Than 4.0 Strikeouts

These are two terrible strikeout pitchers. Quantrill is so bad that he’s worse than Perez at generating strikeouts. He’s had only 5.34 K/9 and should get shelled early and often by a good Phillies lineup. Quantrill will be dependent on BABIP just to get through 5 innings. And even then, 4 strikeouts will be a chore. We shouldn’t have him going 5 innings, so we have him at just 3.3 strikeouts.

Perez comes in having had only 6.05 K/9, and the Mets just don’t strike out as it is. The Mets projected lineup only has an 18.8% K rate against LHP. We also have Perez projected for only 3.3 strikeouts.

All projections referenced are accurate at the time of writing but subject to change.

Pitching is rough today, so the hitting projections are the juiciest targets. There are about a dozen that I absolutely love. As for pitching, the three strikeout projections I supplied above are really the only ones that jump off of the page. The Braves, Astros, and Dodgers are already great hitting teams, and they’re in nut spots. Scour for those hitters and we should have a great night.
