2024 Zurich Classic: PGA Golf Betting Picks This Week
This week, Joe Cistaro breaks down PGA golf betting tips for the 2024 Zurich Classic.
Scottie Scheffler will give the rest of the PGA TOUR an opportunity to claim a victory in the 2024 Zurich Classic. A team format, partners will play best ball and alternate shot over the course of four days to claim a championship. Despite the different format, golfers will win exemptions to tournaments in 2025 and valuable FedEx Cup points to accompany the dollars entering their bank accounts. Give our betting preview a look and then take a look at betting odds before joining me in the construction of my betting card for this week’s tournament.

Nick Taylor / Adam Hadwin +2200 (ESPNBet)
Unable to secure the 40-1 odds when sports betting sites set their initial odds, I decided to bet the Canadian pairing at 22-1 on ESPNBet. This outright bet is all about the vibes from last year and the chemistry these players have with each other.
Taylor and Hadwin have been friends for many years. Last season, the duo surged up the leaderboard during alternate scoring on Sunday with a 63. Both players found fire and fell short of Nick Hardy and Davis Riley by a couple of strokes. This event is all about irons, birdies, and putting. Taylor ranks 14th in approach and 10th in putting. Adam Hadwin is not putting together his best season on the PGA TOUR, but he ranks in the top half of the field opportunities and BOB%.
With this event, I am less concerned about statistics and more concerned with team chemistry. The pairing are very comfortable with each other and have experience in this format. For one-and-done formats that ask you to pick one player from your team, either player feels like a good player to burn for the smaller-prize pool event.
Davis Thompson / Andrew Novak +3500 (DraftKings)
The young pairing looks to build off relatively successful 2024 campaigns in this fun team format. With much of the odds board shortening over the last couple of days, Novak and Thompson offer a sprinkle of upside. While we have far more dynamic offerings atop the board, the costs are prohibitive for a weaker-field event.
Andrew Novak ranks 12th in SG: Approach and would like to dial his irons in to provide opportunities for his team. Davis Thompson is a bit more well-rounded. Thompson and Novak have three consecutive made cuts. Novak, starting at the Phoenix Open, completed a three-week T10 streak that displayed plenty of promise. Both players would benefit greatly by a victory with exemptions into key events in 2025 as well as money and FedEx Cup points.
We aren’t putting too much money into this event. I think targeting a young team with plenty to play for could bear fruit at this event in years to come.
Luke List / Henrik Norlander +8000 (DraftKings)
So I can have Luke List take aim at flags all day and let someone else putt them for him? Sign me up!
Luke List typically models as one of the better T2G players in every field but struggles mightily in the short game department. For outright bets, we aren’t worried at all about around-the-green play. For the green play, Luke List can let his partner take all of the birdie putts that result from the opportunities he creates with his irons.
Henrik Norlander isn’t the best putter in the field, but he sure is not Luke List. He ranks in the top 40 in putting and has even excelled in approach of late (ranking 23rd). With most of the odds so short this week, I don’t mind adding a long shot for fun. Now, if I can figure out how to get Luke List a designated putter for the rest of his events…
We will stop here. A very tight card for what many are considering an off week feels like the best course of action for me. What bets are you making this week?

The Majors Futures
At the moment, I have 100 units through promotional bets on Ludvig Aberg and Cameron Young for the PGA Championship. I would love to add Scottie Scheffler to this card but would need a pretty large deposit bonus ahead of our next major to get this done. After hitting Scottie for the win at The Masters, allocating a marginal amount of my bankroll to chase these bonuses for future golf bets is a fun way to build a card early. I will update on any additional bets next week.
