This week’s rankings update is marked my one of the most impressive runs in the short time that I’ve been writing this piece for RotoGrinders. The headline below says it all, and I will discuss that more in a bit, but first let’s look at the week in review. In a week marked by the NBA All-Star Break, there was a little less action than usual. Many players probably veered from their comfort zone and ventured to the NHL and PGA worlds. That’s the problem with the daily fantasy sports game, it’s just so consuming that when there’s a break in a game as popular as the NBA, daily gamblers don’t know how to handle themselves. Well luckily the All-Star Break ended and the sharks and fish of basketball could return to their comfort zones, and the NHL or PGA players sighed in disappointment as the number of uneducated players in their leagues went down. Well before I go on and on about this, let’s dive into the rankings and see what happened around the top 100 in Grinder Nation this week.
Headline Story: BRETTFAVRE444 DOMINATES NBA & PGA: DEBUTS AT #7 OVERALL
BrettFavre444 is a guy I remember hearing about early in the NFL season on DraftStreet, before I began hiding the chat room to avoid the annoyance. He was winning football leagues left and right and I can only assume climbing the rankings. But when my time writing for RotoGrinders began(in early December), BrettFavre444 was in the midst of some sort of siesta from daily fantasy. From late October until late December, he disappeared according to our Grinders game results. Well since then, he has made it his mission to make up for lost time. He has been on an absolute tear in the past couple months and after a week where he earned $20,500+ in PGA and NBA leagues, he has managed to push all the way to the 7th spot overall. So big congrats go out to BrettFavre444 not only on becoming the headline story this week and for moving to 7th overall, but for all the monetary success as well!
The New Guys
Besides BrettFavre444, there were two players who joined the top 100 in the overall rankings. One, Redzone187, is a returning member to the top 100 who rejoins the elite group following a brief period of struggle. Congrats and welcome back Redzone187, good luck moving forward! The other player we have entering the top 100 this week squeaked in and stands at #100 overall. Btjordan23 is the 100th ranked player in Grinder Nation, an impressive achievement that leaves him in a tough situation. As the #100 player, you have to be on your A-game every day to move up and secure a long term place in the ranks. Good luck Btjordan23 and while I am rooting for you, there are plenty of Grinders trying to displace you!
Double Digit Jumps: This Week’s Movers and Shakers
While BrettFavre444 is dominating our headline, there were three guys who were content to subtly climb the leaderboard and continue to cement their place in Grinder elite. Luckbox8 stands at the highest place in the ranks of these three guys, but made the smallest leap. Regardless, he used an impressive ten place jump to go from #59 to #49 and can happily say he is one of the top 50 daily fantasy players around. The second biggest jump goes to a new member from last week who is sure to be looking to join the top 50 like Luckbox8 in the week ahead. At #52 overall, after a 12 spot jump this week, SocrDave adds his name to the list of recently new players on the leader board to only get stronger after being ranked. Congrats to both of these guys on the second and third biggest moves this week. Our biggest jump of the week comes from a guy who would probably have taken the headline story any other week, but ran into the challenge of one-upping BrettFavre444’s $20K week. Regardless, Dp47 had a great week and moved up a whopping 28 places to find himself at 60th overall. Great job to Dp47 on a ridiculous week that is not forgotten amongst Grinder Nation.
