Pitcher Grind Down
- Henderson Alvarez / Franklin Morales – I could break these pitchers down individually, but I would basically be saying the same thing for both of them. This game features the highest run total of the night and Coors Field is a place where pitcher’s ERA’s go to die. Combined Rating = 1

Miami
Giancarlo Stanton – Stanton may be one of the most popular plays in the industry tonight which is pretty rare considering how expensive he is. Stanton mashes LH pitching and gets to face a lefty that has been awful against RH hitters this season. I should also mention that this game will be played in the best hitter’s park in all of baseball.
Additional Plays: Christian Yelich, Casey McGehee, Marcell Ozuna
Colorado
Corey Dickerson – Alvarez has only given up more than 2 earned runs 1 time in his last 10 starts. I have a feeling tonight will be the 2nd time in his last 11 starts. The Rockies are the best offense in baseball at home and should be in for another big outing tonight. Dickerson has been crushing RH pitching all season long and should be batting in the heart of the Rockies lineup.
Additional Plays: Nolan Arenado, Charlie Blackmon, Justin Morneau

Pitcher Grind Down
- Odrisamer Despaigne – Despaigne has a 3.28 ERA on the season, but his 4.56 xFIP tells another story. He has a pretty mediocre K/9 of 5.5 and he is walking 3.4 batters per 9 which is a bit high. I could see Despaigne being a fairly popular value play tonight, but I’m not too high on him. Chase Field is a hitter’s ballpark and the D-Backs have quite a few good LH batters in their lineup. Rating = 4
Salaries: $5700 FD, $11450 DD, $6200 DK, $NA FF, $16100 SS, $NA FTD
- Josh Collmenter – Collmenter has really pitched well at home this season. He owns a 3.20 ERA at Chase Field and has held opponents to a .212 batting average there. That said, he’s not a high strikeout pitcher and the Padres have been much better offensively since the start of July. In fact, the Padres are the #1 offense in baseball over the last 30 days. I’m likely going to avoid him completely, but could see the merit in using him as a GPP play. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6300 FD, $10550 DD, $6100 DK, $ FF, $14600 SS, $10550 FTD

San Diego
Seth Smith – Over his last 10 games, Smith is 12/32 with 4 XBH’s and 5 RBI’s. He draws a great matchup tonight against Collmenter who has given up a .368 wOBA to LH hitters this season.
Additional Plays: Yangervis Solarte
Arizona
David Peralta – Peralta has 2 HR’s in his last 4 games and draws a nice matchup against the rookie RHP Despaigne who has given up a .353 wOBA to LH hitters this season.
Additional Plays: Ender Inciarte, Miguel Montero

Pitcher Grind Down
- Hector Santiago – Santiago has quietly pitched well this season. He owns a 3.46 ERA with a K/9 of 7/8. He is only producing a 29% ground ball rate though which is concerning. Tonight he faces the A’s. While the A’s offense has been ice cold, Oakland is still an extremely tough place to pitch if your on the visiting team. The A’s are a very patient team at the plate and draw more walks than any team in baseball. Rating = 5
Salaries: $5900 FD, $11900 DD, $6500 DK, $NA FF, $16800 SS, $11900 FTD
- Sonny Gray – I was a little surprised to see Gray as a -160 favorite. He’s been very hittable over his last 3 starts as he has given up 24 hits and 12 earned runs. He still owns an ERA under 3.00 on the season, but has an extremely tough matchup against the Angels who are ranked 12th in wOBA vs. RH pitching this season. I’m not sure if I’m going to be paying up for Gray in a subpar matchup. Rating = 6
Salaries: $8600 FD, $17600 DD, $8600 DK, $ FF, $25400 SS, $17600 FTD

LA Angels
While I don’t love Gray at his price point tonight, I don’t love any Angels bats against him either. Gray has held both LH and RH hitters under a .285 wOBA this season.
Oakland
Josh Donaldson – At this point in this season when you see the A’s facing a LH pitching, Donaldson should immediately pop into your head as a good play. He’s batting .289 with a .469 wOBA vs. southpaws this season. The crazy part is that 22 of his 33 hits off of lefties this season have gone for extra bases.
Additional Plays: Derek Norris, Jonny Gomes

Pitcher Grind Down
- Jonathon Niese – Niese is having another Niese-like season. He owns a 3.50 ERA (3.82 xFIP) with a K/9 of 6.5. He is producing a 49% ground ball rate and has given up very few HR’s. The Dodgers offense carries some big bats, but they have really struggled vs. LH pitching this season. They are ranked 23rd in wOBA vs. southpaws and strike out at a 20.4% clip. Niese is a solid play tonight that will surely fly under the radar. Rating = 6
Salaries: $7000 FD, $11400 DD, $6800 DK, $NA FF, $18600 SS, $11400 FTD
- Dan Haren – Haren gives up way too many HR’s. He has already given up 24 homers on the season, 12 to RH hitters and 12 to LH hitters. His ERA is hovering right around 5.00 and his K-rate is not high enough to make up for the few runs that he typically gives up. Even against the Mets, I’ll be avoiding Haren tonight. Rating = 4
Salaries: $6800 FD, $13100 DD, $6300 DK, $ FF, $17000 SS, $13100 FTD
Batter Grind Down
NY Mets
David Wright – Haren is a reverse-splits pitcher. He has given up a .361 wOBA to RH hitters this season and Wright has hit him well in the past. He is 7/21 with 4 XBH’s off of Haren in his career.
Additional Plays: Daniel Murphy, Lucas Duda
LA Dodgers
Yasiel Puig – Puig is in play tonight against the lefty. He has great power against LH pitching and is one of the few players in baseball that can score fantasy points in multiple ways. Plus, he’s still a but under-priced on FanDuel.
Additional Plays: Matt Kemp
