A daily fantasy sports OG, Notorious has been roaming the DFS streets ever since they were invented. He has racked up multiple live final seats and several six-figure tournament wins in his DFS career, and Noto will mix it up in all different types of contests. So, who better to walk you through the madness of an NBA DFS slate? Core Plays LIVE will zoom out on the slate as a whole, zoom in on the best NBA DFS picks, and constantly update as news breaks. Whether you are diving into the slate 5 hours before it starts or 5 minutes before it starts, you’ve come to the right place.

Happy Tuesday!

I believe traditions are important. Ever since we turned 21, my friends and I have made the trip to the nearest casino (about an hour’s drive) to bet on every single first-round game of the NCAA tournament. We essentially put together 20 different 3-team parlays. Are parlays the best way to approach this tournament from an ROI standpoint? Of course not, but we do this for the entertainment.

Speaking of entertainment, the process of selecting the teams is the best part. We each get two picks that can’t be refuted. After that, everything is up for debate. Over the years, ties have been settled by rock, paper, scissors, paper airplane contests, coin flips, beer chugging contests, arm wrestles, staring contests, long-jump competitions (we stopped doing these once we turned 30), and much more. We are making the trek again this year, although the original group of around 10 is now down to three.

If you have any picks that you feel great about, reach out to me on Twitter and let me know. I have two picks that my friends can’t go against, and I plan to use them wisely. I plan on taking my laptop and will be updating this article throughout the day. As far as the slate goes, there are 5 games on the schedule. The Wolves are the only team playing in the second half of a back-to-back, and there aren’t any teams playing in the front half of a back-to-back.

Team Previews

Charlotte Hornets (at ORL): We start tonight’s slate with the Hornets, who have lost 8 of their last 10 games. They had a nice run there a few weeks ago, but that seems to be over. Tonight they travel to Orlando to take on the Magic, who are 26th in pace and 4th in defensive rating. This is one of the worst possible matchups for fantasy production. The Hornets come into the game as 13-point underdogs and have a team total of 95.5 points. That’s not only the lowest total of the slate (by a wide margin) but is 11 points lower than their season average. LaMelo Ball, Mark Williams, Cody Martin, Bryce McGowens, and Seth Curry are all out, while Tre Mann is listed as questionable. While we know the offense is going to flow through Miles Bridges, Brandon Miller, and Vasilije Micic, there’s nothing that stands out from a DFS perspective. We don’t have a single player with a positive RGValue in our projections.

Orlando Magic (vs. CHA): The Magic have won 8 of their last 10 games and have jumped up to 5th place in the Eastern Conference standings. Tonight they host the Hornets, who are a bottom-5 team in both rebounding rate and defensive rating. The projected pace of this game isn’t ideal, but the Magic have a respectable team total of 108.5 points. The Magic don’t have a single player on the injury report, which is certainly rare at this stage of the season. Given the lackluster environment of the game, the projections aren’t a big fan of the Magic. There’s not a single player with a positive RGValue. With that said, this is a small slate, and I could certainly see Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, or Wendell Carter having a nice outing at low ownership.
