PGA DFS GPP Breakdown: The Masters
Long-time grinder, STLCardinals84, breaks down his top PGA DFS picks in various price ranges for this week’s tournament. Which golfers should you be targeting to try and take down the big DFS tournaments? Find out below!
The long wait is over! We have arrived at the first full week of April, which means only one thing… It’s Masters Week! With MLB also in full swing and the NBA/NHL playoffs around the corner, times are good on the sports calendar right now. Let the good times begin!
As usual, the year’s first major contains a somewhat limited field. We have a field of 89 golfers assembled for this tournament, which is the exact same number that we had a year ago. As for the course, we all know about Augusta National Golf Club. This layout will test every aspect of a golfer’s game. From trees to hazards to speedy, difficult greens to narrow landing areas, every weakness will be exposed by this course.
Note: RotoGrinders has partnered with Betsperts Golf and the Rabbit Hole! Prices will increase the day after the Masters, so take advantage and get grandfathered in at Betsperts’ lowest price now!

I am much more inclined to value course history at this unique venue, though current form is also a factor. I’m not going to blindly turn to course history at the expense of every statistical measure, but experience has value here. How will the LIV golfers fare this year? There are plenty of fun story lines to follow. As for the types of golfers to hone in on, when all-around ability comes into play, it’s easy to look at strokes gained: tee to green and ball striking as key metrics. However, short game and bogey avoidance can also be mixed in on this difficult course. Par five scoring is also key, as the par fives are by far the easiest scoring holes on this course.
Thanks to the smaller field of golfers, it’s worth noting that the cut rule at the Masters is that the top 50 and ties make the weekend. In addition, there are also some amateurs, past champions, and older golfers in the mix, and many of those players are already unlikely to make the cut. I say this to emphasize that the majority of the good golfers will likely make the cut this week. Getting all six of your golfers to the weekend is paramount in a tournament where a good majority of players will survive to play four days.
With the general talking points out of the way, here are some of my favorite GPP picks for the week!
PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel GPP Breakdown for the Masters
Rory McIlroy
DraftKings: $10,800
FanDuel: $11,800
Yahoo: $45
Look, I am not going to tell you to fade Scottie Scheffler. He’s good. If he putts it well, he’s almost assuredly going to be in the mix. As we all know, that’s not a given. Scheffler is likely going to be pushing 30% ownership on DK and 45% on FD. I can’t get overweight on those numbers in a deep-field major. Of course, last week’s results are going to bring me back for more punishment with McIlroy. We know that his game should theoretically fit Augusta very well, as he’s long off the tee and generally strong on par fives. However, his history at Augusta is spotty. Over the last four years, he has two missed cuts and two top-five finishes. The important thing for me is how strong his game looked last week. McIlroy teed it up at the Valero Texas Open to get geared up for Augusta, and he had one of his best tee-to-green weeks in months, with nearly 8 strokes gained on approach. Buckle up for the ride.
