TBB WR Cyril Grayson signed to active roster; RB Kenjon Barner and TE Darren Fells elevated from practice squad

Cyril Grayson has been signed to the active roster, while Kenjon Barner and Darren Fells have been elevated from the practice squad ahead of Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers. Grayson is expected to continue to play a prominent role in the offense with the release of Antonio Brown earlier this week. Grayson should slot in as the number two receiver behind Mike Evans and can be considered in DFS contests going forward. Barner is expected to serve as running back depth with Ronald Jones and Leonard Fournette both out. Ke'Shawn Vaughn and Le'Veon Bell should lead the backfield with Barner available as the third back. Fells is expected to serve as tight end depth and shouldn't be considered in DFS contests at this time.

TBB TE Darren Fells and WR Breshad Perriman have been elevated from the practice squad for Sunday; WR Scotty Miller not activated to 53-man roster

Darren Fells and Breshad Perriman have been elevated from the practice squad for Sunday's game against the Washington Football Team. Fells is expected to serve as tight end depth behind Cameron Brate and O.J. Howard. Perriman should serve as receiver depth for the Buccaneers and could also play on special teams. With Miller still on IR the Bucs will have Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, Tyler Johnson, Jaelon Darden, and Perriman available.

Brandin Cooks now reportedly not expected to play today

There have been mixed reports about Brandin Cooks, but Ian Rapoport indicated Cooks will be out today. The Texans' WR situation is a mess, and it is fair to expect the TEs and RBs to factor heavily into the passing game. Keke Coutee and Chad Hansen are the clear top WR options remaining, and Duke Johnson should be active in the passing game. Look for an additional update on Cooks when inactives are released.

Jordan Akins officially active

Jordan Akins is active Sunday and should work as the top TE option for the Texans. This will limit the role of TE Darren Fells.

Jordan Akins inactive Sunday

Akins will miss his third straight game for the Texans. Darren Fells will be their top TE option and is coming off a very productive Week 6, where he caught 6 of 7 targets for 85 yards and a TD. Keep in mind, he had just 2 catches each of the two weeks before that game, so there is some downside risk.

Jordan Akins ruled out for Sunday

Jordan Akins will miss his second straight game on Sunday. Darren Fells should fill the top TE spot for Houston, while Pharaoh Brown will get a little work behind him. Fells (2 targets last week) and Brown (1 target last week) did little without Akins, making them essentially completely TD-dependent plays.

Jordan Akins is inactive Sunday, which is a bit of a surprise after he was listed as questionable. Darren Fells should get more usage as the top TE, while Pharaoh Brown will work as the TE2 Sunday. Keke Coutee is inactive and does not have a role in the offense this season.

Texans TE Darren Fells is Active Against the Chiefs

Fells, who was questionable with a hip injury, is active against the Chiefs. The Texans will be limited at tight end with Jordan Akins sidelined. Fells logged a season-high 96% of the snaps last week with Akins out of the lineup, and we should expect similar playing time for him on Sunday. Fells is going under the radar because of the strong tight end options this weekend and makes for a nice pivot off of the George Kittles and Travis Kelces of the world.

Kenny Stills (Knee), Will Fuller (Groin), Darren Fells (Hip), Jordan Akins (Hamstring) Questionable for Sunday

The Texans had an extensive injury report Friday, including two WRs and two TEs. Fuller in particular should be watched: there have been reports he is expected to play, but he has also frequently dealt with injuries in his career and was held out of the Texans' Wild Card win last weekend. Fells was a new addition to the report, appearing after being limited in practice Friday. The extent of his injury is not immediately clear.

Hopkins and Fells practiced fully Thursday and neither have an injury designation for Saturday.
