NBA PrizePicks Predictions Today

Donovan Mitchell More/Less Than 25.5 Points

The home team has won each of the first 5 games of this CLE/ORL series. In fact, Cleveland wasn’t particularly close to winning Games 3 or 4 in Orlando. The Magic claimed those contests by a total of 51 points. Cleveland was also held under 90 points in both of those games. Perhaps that shouldn’t have been a huge surprise considering the Magic were quietly one of the best home teams in the league during the regular season, with a 29-12 record.

In the 3 home games in this series, Mitchell has averaged 27 points per game. In the 2 road games, his average has plunged to just 15.5 points per game on grim 36% shooting. I’m not going to put too much stock in home/road splits – especially small-sample home/road splits – but I’d expect another stingy effort from the Magic defensively in this one with their season on the line.

Is Mitchell capable of going off and ending Orlando’s season by himself? Of course. Do I expect that to happen in this one? Absolutely not.

Wendell Carter More/Less Than 8 Points

Carter hasn’t quite developed into the franchise center the Magic thought they were getting when they shipped Nikola Vucevic to Chicago a couple of years ago, but the Duke product has become a useful rotation piece. After averaging more than 15 points per game in each of his first 2 full seasons with the team, however, Carter’s scoring average dipped to just 11 points per game this season.

He did battle some injuries, and Orlando’s center rotation was a crowded one, with Goga Bitadze and Moe Wagner also fighting for minutes. Carter actually came off the bench behind Jonathan Isaac in Games 1 and 2 before reclaiming his starting nod in Game 3. After failing to crack 20 minutes in Games 1 or 2, Carter has played 24 or more in each of the last 3 games. That includes a series-best 33 minutes in Game 5.

He isn’t a major source of usage, with Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner running the show offensively, but Carter is efficient with the few looks he does get. We have him projected for 28 minutes in tonight’s contest, and there’s clearly room for upside there if the game is competitive.

Kyrie Irving More/Less Than 29.5 Points + Rebounds

Luka Doncic has struggled through knee soreness throughout the Mavs’ first-round series against the Clippers, but Irving has been happy to pick up some of the slack. After averaging 25.6 points and 5 rebounds per game during the season, Kyrie is contributing 25.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game in the playoffs.

Irving scored at least 21 points in each of the first 4 games before putting just 14 on the board in Game 5. That game was an utter rout, however, and his 6-for-14 shooting performances was his worst of the series.

Dallas is a fairly heavy favorite at home, and there’s certainly a chance for this game to get out of hand too. The Clippers’ stars aren’t necessarily known for their resilience, and Irving would simply have to hit his regular averages in this one in order to top 29.5 combined points and rebounds. Irving averaged 27 points per game at home this season as well.
