2024 THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson Weather Forecast and Projections

We’re teeing off for THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson, where we’ll be on rain watch through the entirety of the tournament.

ComboPGAcomparison

As usual in my golf weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps soften and slow the course, which helps as much as it hurts. With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try to highlight the time frame with the lightest winds and the time frame with the strongest winds to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another. You can then use this to your advantage when making your picks on DFS sites and sportsbooks.

THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson Weather Forecast

Thursday, May 2nd

Storms rumbling through early morning. My hope is that they are cleared prior to golf, but a late start here is possible. Winds will lay down pretty quick after the storm rips through, around 10 MPH through the day, at times even lighter.

Friday, May 3rd

Again we could see an early morning storm batch, though confidence in timing is a bit lower this far out. Again winds during the day which are not thunderstorm generated will be manageable, around 10 MPH.

Saturday, May 4th

Scattered showers and storms. Winds around 10 MPH.

Sunday, May 5th

Rain chances look elevated on Sunday. A delay or multiple delays could show up here.

THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson Weather Thoughts

It’s messy, with rain possible every day, but I don’t see a clear wind edge to be had. I prefer the afternoon on both Thursday and Friday, but for DFS purposes, that isn’t a useful note.
