2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational Weather Forecast and Projections

We’re teeing off for the Arnold Palmer Invitational this week in Bay Hill, Florida, and the weather starts great but gets increasingly impactful as the tournament progresses.

As usual in my golf weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps soften and slow the course, which helps as much as it hurts. With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try to highlight the time frame with the lightest winds and the time frame with the strongest winds to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another. You can then use this to your advantage when making your picks on DFS sites and sportsbooks.

Arnold Palmer Invitational Weather Forecast

Thursday, March 7th

Perfect weather. Winds are light (5 mph) all day, and there are no rain concerns.

Friday, March 8th

Winds start at 5 mph early in the morning, building to 5-10 mph by the late morning. The afternoon winds will be around 10 mph sustained, still very manageable weather, but it is the windiest timeframe of the first 2 days.

Saturday, March 9th

Winds start picking up over the weekend. Morning winds will start at 10 mph sustained, building to 10-15 mph in the late morning. By the afternoon, sustained winds will be around 15 mph, with gusts of 20-25 mph.

Sunday, March 10th

Similar to the prior day, we’ll have 10 mph winds early, gradually building to 15 mph sustained with gusts over 20 mph in the afternoon. We also bring back the chance for some rain in the afternoon.

Arnold Palmer Invitational Weather Thoughts

Two main notes here. First: A Thurs PM / Fri AM build is the optimal way to avoid wind, but flipping that build still brings very manageable wind conditions. I don’t think building to a certain wave is ultimately going to make or break you, but it will give you a slight edge. Second: Both weekend days get breezy, especially in the afternoons. The early you can target a golfer on the weekends the better off you are.
