Things went pretty well last night as the Nets were a 10 point underdog and a missed 3 pointer in the last two seconds that cost them the game, but the spread was never really in doubt. We plan on keeping things rolling tonight!

So let’s get to the breakdown for February 12, 2019: Los Angeles Lakers at Atlanta Hawks.

Historical Numbers Against the Spread

Tonight’s matchup features two team that if the regular season ended today, both would be out of the playoff picture. The Lakers currently sit at 10th in the Western Conference with a record of 28-28 and are 3-7 in their last 10, while the Hawks sit at 12th in the Eastern Conference with a record of 18-38 and are 4-6 in their last 10.

Lakers Historical Numbers Against the Spread

While a lot of people thought that the Lakers would be around the 5th seed at this point in the year, they have failed to meet expectations. As such, the Lakers have been one of the worst teams in the league to bet on this year with a record of 25-30-1 ATS, which 21st in the NBA. The Lakers play this game on the road, and while they have been one of the worst teams to bet on at home going 11-16-1 ATS, they have actually been a .500 team to bet on on the road going 14-14. They have not played great this season on a full days rest going 14-17-1 ATS, but that is right on par with their record overall. This is an above average spot for the Lakers to cover.

Hawks Historical Numbers Against the Spread

The Hawks have been a bit of a dumpster fire this season, and their betting record has showed it as they are the worst team in the league to bet on this season going 24-32 ATS. In one of the weirder stats I have seen, the Hawks have actually been one of the better road teams in the league to bet on going 17-15 ATS which ranks 8th in the league, but have been by far the worst team in the league to bet on at home where they own an incredibly bad record of 7-17 ATS, which is 20% lower than the next worst team. Overall, this is a horrible spot for the Hawks to cover.

Historical Numbers on the Total

This game should be a fairly high scoring as these teams play at two of the fastest paces in the NBA, with the Hawks ranking first and the Lakers ranking 4th. The Lakers, however, have played better on both ends of the floor ranking 13th in defensive efficiency and 21st in offensive efficiency. Meanwhile the Hawks rank 28th in defensive efficiency and 24th in offensive efficiency.

Lakers Historical Numbers on the Total

Even though the Lakers have been one of the fastest paced teams, they have hit the over at one of the lowest rates in the league at 22-33-1. Interestingly enough, the Lakers have been the absolute worst team on the over at home this season going 7-20-1, but have been an above average team on the road going 15-13. Additionally, they have only been slightly below average on a full days rest going 14-18. Overall, this is an above average spot for the Lakers to cover the over.

Hawks Historical Numbers on the Total

The Hawks have been one of the best teams in the league to bet the over on this season going 32-24 which ranks 4th in the league. The Hawks have performed similarly well on the road and at home going 14-10 at home and 18-14 on the road, but where they have really thrived is on full rest. On the season, no team has performed better on hitting the over on a full day of rest than the Hawks, who own a 26-11 in rested games. Overall, this is a very good spot for the hawks to cover on the over.
