Lesson 4: The Psychology of MLB DFS

The Psychology of MLB DFS. It’s a funny thing to dedicate a lesson to. But what’s even funnier is that so few people dedicate the proper time and attention to understanding how big of an impact this aspect of MLB DFS has on long-term success and failure.

____
The Swings

There are two things you need to know here (covered multiple times already in this course – and so, simply collected here in a point-by-point list for easy reference and “refresher” throughout the season):

1) You need to understand how sharp (and sometimes sustained) the swings in MLB DFS can be.

2) You need to be strategic and purposeful about putting yourself in position to weather these swings.

____
The Names

Remember how we have talked a lot about how many mistakes are still prevalent among MLB DFSers, and how people regularly end up on the wrong plays, or end up making roster decisions that make very little sense? Remember how we have brought up Obvious Land Mine Days – with the implication being that large numbers of people often end up on a pitcher we know is a poor play? We are going to touch on these items more fully in a couple lessons, but there is a big component to this “prevalence of obvious mistakes” that falls squarely into this Psychology of MLB DFS section:

Name Value.

Lots of people roster names in MLB DFS.

We roster numbers.
